when Elon Musk gives you a release date or release time frame, you can bet that it will come out at least 2 to 3 years after his promised date, or it will never arrive at all :)

If a game crashes will it crash the entire system?
You don't need games to crash the Tesla screens - existing software on it can(and does) take down the entire dashboard.
Critical systems aren't part of it - but you get to drive blind until the screens are rebooted.

Does it also crash the speedometer portion too? Are those system crashes common?

So the idea is that your car is on autodrive while you play something? If the game crashes due to bad code
and it leaks into the telsa OS
is that manslaughter?

So if it's like steam deck, we can Gamepass on our way around?

That would be pretty fricking cool.

Might eventually surpass flying as the preferred method of travel.

Gaming systems in a car are just stupid. For the driver a no go, for the backseat any smartphone should do the job.
Especially in a car that pretends to be green but teslas are just overpowered egoboost toys for rich wannabe green people.

Maybe when 100 percent of all vehicles are fully autonomous Ill accept games on a dash. but till then, Keep the distractions off the big heavy death machines.

this is a company that wants its cars to automatically switch into reverse when it "thinks" it needs to, and who have put important everyday things you need to use, including the gear shifting, onto a touchscreen interface with no haptic alternative.
and they put a steering wheel into their car that doesn't work correctly with how 99.999% of people are used to use one...

Teslas are already rolling safety risks as is

Gotta a find away to distract the folks from realizing they bought a shitty vehicle somehow. This is definitely one way to go about it.
