Guise of the Wolf is on sale on Steam, and I love me some werewolf games. Should I trust the Steam reviews bashing the hell out of it?

It's baaaaaaaaaad.
The devs also got into a kinda hilarious hissy fit fight with a famous youtuber (TB?)

So, the reason I haven't posted in this thread today:

THIS fucking game...holy shit. Started at noon, just quit 11 hours later (and that was just the tutorial game). Apparently there is no way to win in the tutorial despite the mighty empire of Siam crushing America, Venice, Vienna, and Almaty, nevertheless it's SO good. I feel like I'll have 100 hours in this by next week.

Yeah it was TotalBiscuit, I think myself and Dot have posted the same video.

Welcome to my world. Got way too many hours on this game on both my Steam accounts.

Just got through The Journey Down Chapter 1. I figure it's kinda topical since Chapter 2 will be upon us "this summer."

The graphics: highly stylized and cool. A combination of near-future backdrops, modern charm, and African-inspired character designs.
The story: interesting. Didn't get very in-depth into the setting but was enough of a taste for chapter 1.
The music: Incredible. One of the best things about the game.
The puzzles: Not one bad puzzle in the mix. That's high praise indeed for a point-and-click. There was one part where it seemed unclear that you could actually do something - the final puzzle - but maybe I was just tired and didn't think of it. It wasn't too easy and wasn't Guide Dang It, either.
The length: Two hours, on pace for any episodic P&C.
The voices: ...Um. Well? There's a lot of stereotyping. Italian-American mobsters, lazy Jamaicans, quick-tempered Asian chefs who care about honour, snooty French concierges...I didn't see a toque-wearing lumberjack who said "eh," but then again I don't know what's in store for Chapter 2. All that research into western and central African masks, and none of the characters seem actually African. Shame, that.
The verdict: Not just a great chapter 1, not just a great first effort for a developer, but a great point-and-click as a whole if you just put aside the disdain for stereotypes.

Ah, it was the Guise devs? I remember that whole mess lol.

Yeah it was TotalBiscuit, I think myself and Dot have posted the same video.

I linked the second Guise video he made, i think you linked the original livestream version but TB's opinion of it is still the same, haha.

Many of my evenings were spent starting up a game of Civ 5 and then seeing the sun rise through my window in the final era! Fun stuff!!

If you have IRL buddies to play it with you, dedicate a whole day to playing Civ 5. Get real into your civ, set up a room in the house for secret conferences, and wildly fight about politics over supper. Great fun!

Just realised I had this. I'm in a point-and-click mood, so I might give it a go.

Welcome to my world. Got way too many hours on this game on both my Steam accounts.

i sitll remember my first real game...

i was polynesia. so op. quickly made allies with Askia

I sincerely hope the new Doom multiplayer is decent, I'm getting pretty tired of Team Fortress 2 and free weekend forever. It's getting harder and harder to find decent games where the teams don't have retarded class balances. I try and have fun and just treat it like deathmatch no matter what the mode because team work is usually nonexistent and completing objectives is usually a no-go. On offence and it's payload? Of course you'll have five snipers and four spies who don't now how to play either class. And it's not just on valve servers exclusively either.

I think I would stop playing TF2 if there was another multiplayer game like it and not the many modern military shooters that dominate the market. I don't like Call of Duty or Battlefield (anymore, I loved 1942). I tried playing Dota 2 for a while (1600 hours), and while I absolutely loved the game I absolutely grew to loathe the audience playing it. So damned toxic and the same problems with classes (roles, whatever), communication and teamwork existed in that game too.

Maybe I should try Counter-Strike: Global Offensive again. I played a lot of CSS but kinda grew bored of GO since it just seemed like the exact same assets from CSS with some minor alterations.

I've been itching to play that recently. But I'm scared. I haven't put nearly as many hours into that game as some. But the times I did were entire nights like others have said.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Sadly all I got is these PNGs for them. You could create something with em but as you can see La Pincoya is the one with the best quality.

Ah, yeah, I've seen those in my Google Image searches (it's where my Katrien avatar came from!). Thanks though! I'll probably just wait and see if Atlus tosses out some official wallpaper or something.

I have about 70 hours in the game and still feel like a total newb. I still have no idea what some of the stats mean and keep finding out about major game features, like being able to micromanage what titles the population works in each town.

Such a deep game!

That's how I felt when I played Civilization 4 in college. Civilization has the "one more turn" addiction going on.

This is another contender for SteamGaf plays. Need to ban Korea and stealing workers though.

I have no idea how I missed this shitstorm. I heard about the Garry's Incident thing. Pretty crazy stuff!

Definitely! Why, is Korea OP? I just downloaded them during the Steam sale but haven't tried them out yet?

They have insane science bonuses so it's nigh on impossible to lose when Science Victory is on.

Their Unique Abilities.

Specialists provide +2 Science
Great Person Tile Improvements provide +2 Science
Completing a scientific Building or Wonder at your Capital grants a tech boost (Equal to Research Agreement tech boost, affected by modifiers)

Oooh. that's too bad.

Sounds like a good civ to pick when cheesing your way to victory against high level AI, though.
Like Venice!

Yeah if you want to cheese AI go Mongol (for early game wrecking), Korea or Babylon (for science victories).

Enjoy
