She did go all ~white feminism* on Nicki Minaj that one time, but that was mostly just her being ignorant and basically not reading the OP.
She's a mediocre pop star who's popular because she's blonde and inoffensive, but not much else.
Can you share the NIcki Minaj situation? i remember she actually attacked Taylor for winning something one time, or about a nomination, i don't know.
And she's popular because gurl can write some hits. And that's a lot more than what you can say from people like, Katy Perry, that can't sing shit and doesn't write either.
I used to not like Taylor Swift. some weird guy here had her as an avatar when she was still country, and would always post her in the "what, are you listening too?" threads which weirded me out because she was like 16.
then at my old job they used to play a bunch of songs over and over again, like love story and you belong with me. I would always think, oh god, this is that weird pop/country hybrid teen-ager I heard about. hated it at the time, even though I can look back at those songs with reverence today.
then I was home on some weekend and i saw this because why wouldn't I be watching the country music awards during my free time.

idk, I don't know a lot about country music, but there's something about this performance that presented her and her song in a way I had never considered before. probably because of the presentation and I'm assuming the people performing on stage with her. I have no idea who they are. but after this Taylor Swift went from some teenybopper who I heard about on the internet to someone who I could actually listen to.
to this day I don't remember who used to Stan for her so hard, but whatever. 1989 was good.
Something similar happened to me, tbh. My turning point was "All Too Well". Such a sincere, powerful, nostalgia-driven song, something i thought i'd never find on pop music in the 2010- decade. Then, that moment when you realize you don't need to be so hard in criticizing light music and you don't have to always listen to deep, experimental 7minute long shit that snob people usually drool over.
And 1989 delivers.
