When it comes to San Andreas I'm not even sure how they would. The Hot Coffee stuff was buried in the disc's files and is near-impossible to activate regularly so other than obviously modded versions of the game the AO and M versions should look identical, right?
I get flustered when people bring it. An average Joe isn't going to have access to it. It was found by hackers and everyone who was told about it believed it and they still believe that you can control people having sex. The sex in GTA isn't even thought provoking. There's not even nudity. They're just acting it out and you get to see the body's go up and down. Even when you date a stripper you hear them and that's it. I've seen the mod and it's nothing like everyone made it out to be. Wolfenstein: TNO had done more with its sex scenes IMO. Getting a girlfriend in GTA has more nudity and then it's just a fake set of breasts. You have to watch out for a bouncer and wow isn't that better than actually spending money at a strip club? I'm not going to strip clubs because the game is more entertaining.
The PC mod itself is actually just an edited copy of the game script files with a single bit changed. The mod was also made possible on the console versions, by changing the bit inside a user's saved game file or by using a third-party modding device. Take-Two has stated that the mod constitutes a violation of the End User License Agreement,[4] even though modification of the main.scm file is common within the mod community.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Coffee_mod - You could play "How do you do it?" and have more control over naked dolls. It's like someone got offended when someone placed two barbie dolls inside a Barbie house, naked, on top their bed.
Even if it was found. It didn't imply it was meant for a user to use. You could hide jpegs and etc under textures right? You could do what programmers do and rename files to say vulgar things. Your average consumer won't see that. IMO parents who make love and create loud noises cause more harm. Video Games are scripted.
People get scared and they think 17+ or 18+ ratings mean their kids are being enticed to play the game. Mass Effect was another example of that. They go beyond the ratings boards and they try to parent it like it's pornography. It's not even close to their ideas. They should try boycotting R rated films or the violence in the books they buy their kids to read.
Banning GTA for that is beyond hypocritical for anyone to say if they're going to allow other games with brothels and the like. Even with God of War on PS2 you didn't see this incredible danger some make it out to be.
Their list is beyond dated. The M replaced AO many years ago. I'm not saying that's with everything, but an M does way more than a lot of games that actually cater to the market inside of AO.
I wouldn't go to an M rated game when the internet is about 100 times worse and kids have more access to it more than they did when I was young. I don't even see why they would be that thrilled when the naked skin is a texture without a real face attached to it.
What sucks even more is that we can't go beyond a ratings system either. We can do it with movies and music, but its like people average the consumer as the rating on the box. That's pathetic to me.
