I'm fairly sure you mean actual real deal AI and that would most likely be developed unrelated to sex robots not that the paths of these two ideas wouldn't cross over. We'd probably have a lot more issues with AI in general than we would having to worry about people wanting to bang thinking machines.

Obviously nobody would jump straight to child molestation without having perused lower-hanging fruit. The question isn't how many child molesters previously viewed CP, the question is how many pedophiles viewed CP and never molested children. It's entirely possible that there are pedos who are sated by images, and others who would be sated by sexbots (thus kiddie sexbots would be preventing molestation of real kids).

I'd still expect anyone who actually molests children to have gotten there by way of escalation, but that doesn't in any way show that cutting out the middle steps would reduce the number who take the final step. You'll need to do better than "it's clear heroin addicts started with weed."

I think child sex robots are a complicated issue that serious research would need to be done on.

I'm not very well informed on the subject and can only speculate, but I'd assume the vast majority of pedophiles are decent people that would never act on their urges. But I'd also assume they'd end up having a ton of sexual frustration.
If fucking a robot can satisfy them then let them at it.
But that's where the needed research comes in, it has to satisfy them rather than slowly normalise it in their mind.

I wouldn't worry about sentient sex robots before sentient AIs in general, the current efforts on sex bots seem to be based on sticking fairly off-the-shelf level speech AIs into realdolls, I don't think they even have movement systems yet. They're not going to be cutting edge robot tech, we'll have our "do sentient AIs deserve rights?" moment with supercomputer-based systems, not consumer-grade robots.

And even if they make it move and think, it'll take a long time for the price to come down. I think the current ones cost over 10000$, that's a lot of sessions at the brothel.
