We need to talk about sex, robot experts say

Moose Biscuits

It would be extreamly painful...
Swear to God, if governments ban sex robots before they even get off the ground I'll start breaking shit, like, crucial shit

Just based on the size of the parts of the robot I can see, I'd guess that robodong is like two (old) Samsung TV remotes taped together.

RIP to the lady.

This is not some fun exercise. Such companies, whichever make these robots, should not be obligated to make tools for the sexual gratification of paedophiles.

If they're not obligated, should companies be competing in producing these tools? Like the Lolicon industry? It's not a slippery slope fallacy to be concerned with what that shit would potentially turn into. It's companies having their profit margins depend on deviancy.

Pornography can raise people's sex drives and teach them (mostly false) expectations. What you're suggesting is far fucking worse. If you know fuck all about how the mind of a paedophile works, why are you trying your darndest to allow something that's not at all decided to be harmless. You don't know if it would make them far worse. If you don't believe they can suppress their actions, why not hope to castrate or straight up remove any sex drive with drugs etc.?

But what if, by feeding it with a substitute (a robot), they are able to keep the addiction under control enough to not act on any urges?

I dunno. To me it does not make for a good rehabilitation strategy.

Do we do this with drug addicts who are a danger to themselves and others? I think the answer may be yes in some instances, but most of the time, no.

Vancouver and very soon Toronto is trialling safe injection sites. I cannot recall off the top of my head their effectiveness.

I would imagine these robot brothels could serve a similar purpose.

Scientific trials should be done to see if they can help rehabilitate or curb the urges of those with dangerous and illegal sexual tendencies. Anything that makes even a small percentage of sex offenders less likely to re offend has to be a good thing. Alternatively if studies prove this does not transfer the desires onto the doll or makes the person seem more likely to find new victims they should be banned from owning any as a preventative measure.

It'd likely take years and hundreds of voluntary test subjects but either way the results would be incredibly valuable

tangentially related since a bit of this was also mentioned in the op.

People always seem to ignore the whole " these help the elderly " factor of sex dolls. Every documentary I've watched has had at least one widowed, disabled, or simply less sexually capable older person for whom sex with a doll is their best or only way of finding gratification without embarrassment or feeling like they betrayed someones memory. Same goes for the disabled, mentally ill, victims of abuse etc etc these dolls do a world of good for some people already and could do even more if they were more wildly available and the stigma about them dispelled.

I mean, when the robot uprising occurs, do you really want to be a person who said "I approve of allowing people to commit sexual violence against robots"?

Cause I will sell you all out in a second, help me make my list now.

Gravity is a myth, the Earth SUCKS!
If letting pedophiles have sex with children robot substitutes actually keeps them away from real children, I'm all for it. Same story with other harmful sexual deviants. Hopefully there will be some studies done to show if this could be an effective solution. As for "normal" people utilizing sex robots, they can fuck their toasters for all I care.

Believe me when I say I'm not trying to pick on you, specifically, but I find it interesting that you basically side-stepped the question.

I don't think anyone really knows what effect allowing pedophilaics access to "childlike sex robots" would have on their sexual addiction. At worst, we're entirely guessing based on our preconceived biases. At best, applying rough analogies based on other types of addictive behavior/mental illnesses. As far as I know, there have been no credible studies that attempt to explore this. My entirely uneducated opinion is, similar to yours, in that I suspect a robot-substitution for sexual addiction wouldn't curb the addiction in real life.

However, the interesting question is: what if such a childlike robot was found to be an adequate substitute that satisfied sexually-addictive/pedophilia-type behavior? Would people feel comfortable with allowing that, legally-speaking? Would there be certain lines drawn even with regard to such robots? It's a potentially interesting thought exercise.

I would think that we'd have robot butlers before we'd have sex bots. While getting robots to master domestic work can't be easy, making a robot seem believably human, or not uncanny, seems even harder.

If I gave you a lifelike robot of your chosen partner, like a beautiful woman or a handsome man, would you never desire to touch a real one? Would you never look at pornography of a real one?

People are acting like these are nice vampires who have just discovered a substitute for killing people and drinking their blood.

Do you think we should ban BDSM and rape porn because people who are into that sort of thing will inevitably indulge in their fantasies and become actual rapists?

Let's talk about sex B4Y-B3, let's talk about you and me, let's talk about all the good things and he bad things that might be.

But the day we get robot butlers and maids *is* the same day we get sexbots though. Think about it!

Plus, people already fuck less than lifelike substitutes.
