The Sims 4 |OT| Behold its true form and despair!

As much as I appreciate what the sims 4 does better in the series....I can't shake my sims 3 addiction. I feel more attached to that environment than the one in sims 4. Story progression seems more involved in sims 3 than 4. I find myself not even caring about anybody in the game and go for trying to become better at my job. I really love the situations that come within your job like lying on your resume and etc. I hope they push those features in the next dlc.

Funny thing is that I feel like these two towns in TS4 have way more character than TS3. I love the Naw'leans feel to the first one, and with the exception of some of the store ones in TS3, they all felt like nondescript islands or valleys. Bridgeport (Downtown) and Monte Vista being the bold exceptions to that.

My sim stopped having sex for some reason. I get them to agree to woohoo and then the action cancels and they don't do it.

It happened right after I convinced a woman to divorce her husband since we'd been doing it on the regular for a while and I wanted her to move in with me. She was already my girlfriend at that point too.

Now I can't do it with anyone. And I broke up with the poor divorcee shortly afterwards, now she keeps coming over and crying.

So just like real life then....

lol, I'm really digging some of these aspiration rewards. If you max out on the Best-Selling Author one, you basically gain the ability to make
a horcrux. You can write a Book of Life and then fill it with a person's story. If that person dies, you can use the book to bring them back. Pretty awesome.

Holy shit, I need to level my writing.

Does anyone know if you can still get raises after you reach the top tier of a job? I seem to remember that in TS3, if you kept performing well, you could keep getting raises, even if you were already fully promoted, but I'm having trouble here.

After spending hours and hours at the top of careers, I can't figure out a way to get raises like sims 3. Some jobs give you a method of earning more money (like gamer with turking and streaming) but for the most part, the $300-$400 p/h seems to be the limit for most jobs with no more raises possible. Writing/publishing books still a serious money maker in Sims 4, song writer sadly isn't. Takes 5x longer to write a song than a book/painting and you can only publish one a week for a daily pittance, too much like real life maxis.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed by the end game here. Writing is great, I agree. Easy to make tons of money. Is programming good? It takes days to write games, as opposed to books and they don't seem to bring in good cash. Promotions are a must if job cap out at 400.

Just added the cast of Chuck to the game and the first option that appeared when choosing a career for them was "secret agent".

Good.

Finally got this working thanks to a Windows reinstall. Loving it so far, the Sims are way more active than they've ever been before.

Video games are better than apps and song-writing for sure, but can't touch a best seller sold to the digest. I kinda wish song-writing and video-game making was identical to book-writing (Self-Publish, Find publisher or once-a-week big publisher), with similar payouts. If past expansion are to go by, expansions will back drums/bands and flesh the musician-sim stuff out more.

How does multiple households work? I want to make two separate games, but it looks like when I make a new family I see my old sim there. I want to be playing my second family while my original one ages.

Maxed out one job path, already got some level max skills and one aspiration which granted me instant upgrade/repair, bought some trait like the one where hunger and social drain slower.
Starting to feel pretty great, oh and book royalties don't stay forever, I was getting 2,5k a day and now it's down to 500.
With each job getting 2 paths it feel a bit too much but you can unlock furnitures with either so it's fine.

I should be at about 15 hours of playtime and really liking it so far.

I actually like this. The sims 3 was way too easy

I want it to be hard, but I want it to be possible for me to beat the game and it become easy. I'd like it if I could keep working hard enough that I no longer needed to focus on my career. Doesn't seem like that's really possible now.

The expandable rooms makes it so much easier to make quick changes to the house that I wouldn't have even bothered with making in previous games. Starting out building a small house doesn't feel nearly as constraining as it used to.

Lol i love seeing your avatar. He's my husband in my game. I added the entire band and my sim is flirting with Luke while married to Callum.

Man, hearing all about this game makes me badly want it (especially as someone who cared more about the social aspect of The Sims games than anything else), but I'm still sticking to what I said earlier and won't buy it (at least not yet). EA and Maxis simply removed too many things and series staples. For every step forward this installment takes, it also takes two steps backwards.

The other missing features aside I am shocked by the lack of a Mac version. I have always seen Sims as a more casual game. It was THE casual game before mobile came around after all. How can they alienate a huge portion of the casual audience by refusing them access to the game.

At the main menu, look at the top right of the screen. There should be a '+' icon for starting a new game.

I feel like these sims take really long to do things like eat/shower. I haven't played Sims 3 in a long time so maybe it's not very different and I'm just impatient but quite often my Sim is pressed for time before work.

That's been the case since the Sims 1.

If you upgrade your shower, Sims won't take as long. I usually but about 2 hours before work for my some to do a bunch of mood boosting activity to get them in the necessary mindset.

Oh my god I've been playing this game for a certain amount of hours straight. Can't disclose the number because it's way too unhealthy. Addicting.

But I have an issue. I sold my old shower to replace it with a better one (a shower/bath one). The thing is, my old shower was broken and when I sold it, I got left with the "broken animation" which just won't disappear. Here's what I'm talking about:

See that cloud/leak in the middle of the room? That's my problem. I can't do anything about it, not even "repair" it, since the old shower is gone. It's an annoying bug.

You could turn off needs by pressing ctrl+shift+c to open up the cheat console and entering the following code:
Code:
testingcheats true
then hold down the shift key while you click on the mailbox and click Alter Needs which will open up the following six options:
1. Disable household needs decay
2. Disable world needs decay
3. Enable household needs decay
4. Enable world needs decay
5. Fill needs (household)
6. Fill needs (world)
Finally click on one of the first two.

Yea lol I know the first town gives off NO vibes. I guess the story progression mod in the sims 4 is spoiling me to notice the charm of 4. One thing I can say about sims 4 is the fact that the npcs don't randomly stand outside of a building like they do in sims 3. It blew my mind going into the gym and seeing all the equipment taken while in sims 3 everything is open for the first few minutes of arrival which is weird.

I remember taking my sim to the museum at 6am and being the only one there until about 8am. Seeing things like that are a cool addition to the series.

I have been way too much into this game during the weekend. I may start over and build a big and different family living in a house identical to my real home.

I'm still having fun with it. I walked my Sim into the bar to see Dan Ryckert from Giant Bomb, Kramer from Seinfeld, and Meredith from The Office (US) sitting at a table together.

I sold my old shower to replace it with a better one (a shower/bath one). The thing is, my old shower was broken and when I sold it, I got left with the "broken animation" which just won't disappear.

I'm having the same problem with a sink but haven't even bothered to search for a fix yet.

Current house...I still haven't actually filled up the ground floor. I'm not sure what there's left to waste space on. I have three bedrooms with their own full bathrooms, three other bathrooms throughout the house with only lavatories, I have a massive kitchen, a dining room, a large living room, a study, a writing room, a painting/crafting room, a workout room, a music room, and a game room. So yeah... :+

Game keeps saying sims4.exe has stopped working, tried windowed mode, deleting the documents folder and repairing/reinstalling the game (also drivers updated). Anyone has an idea what i can try?

So, I got the goddamn game a couple of days ago after spending a bit of time with it at a friends house. Some omissions still bother me a little but does the game play damn well and building is so cool now. Changing the house around was never easier. Game was also cheap, so it made it easier.

I'll leave a few screenshots of my house here and btw I hate windows, I can never get them right so yea. That freaking rocket on the roof though, that's living...

The entrance and the hallway

The living/dinning room

And the kid room

And here's me and my buddy, Mr. Death.

Read a review which popped up on my Facebook feed at Pixelkin. (As a parent, this angle interests me even though I know what The Sims is)

TL;DR they liked it

The Takeaway

TheSims 4 almost feels like a reboot. EA has taken the staples of the series and considerably reworked them. In the case of Create A Sim, this feels like a fresh new way to play.

Otherwise, though, the game retains a lot of similar gameplay to The Sims 2—a personal favorite of mine, but maybe a little too cut-and-dried for players used to the extreme micromanagement of The Sims 3 (in which you can accompany your Sims to work, to the grocery store, everywhere).

I didn’t mind the removal of those features. A word of caution though: The Sims is a series that thrives on expansion packs. There’s a lot of concern from Sims players that the features that were taken out (like swimming pools and the ability to go to work with your Sim) will be added back in later as expansions—which will, of course, cost money.

The only thing I'm wary of is whether or not they're planning on adding this stuff back in as post launch expansion content. Deciding between Destiny and Sims expansions would be tough.

[superhot screens]

Very nice screens. I'm jealous of your house-designing skills.

My houses are always designed like Frankenstein-esque abominations; they're derived from the starter houses with ill-advised additions of my own. It's a nightmare, but I need the space and utility...
