Picked up a Wii U pro controller for this game as I suspect the gamepad wouldnt handle it. $18 ebgames preowner, not bad. Its a Wii U controller so its not likely to have seen a lot of use.

The only downside here is that Bayo2 had to be exclusive to the Wii U when I was pissed off at Nintendo and deciding not to get a Wii U.

Dammit Nintendo. You know how to piss people off but still convince them to buy your console.

Look at it this way Xenoblade 2, Smash Brothers and Zelda Wii U in addition to some of the games that are out.

Those were actually three games I had wanted but had convinced myself I could do without to not buy a Wii U. But Bayo2 is definitely making me reconsider my decision.

GAME Spain sent me an SMS to let me know that I now can pay in full for the pre-order of the 1+2 Special Edition. I went to the website to do it... but I can't! Woe is me. I'll have to swing by my local GAME and ask them what's up.

I'll get a new grip for my Vita while I'm down there.

Hmmm? What were you pissed off with Nintendo about?

Pissed off is probably too harsh of a word. I was more really disappointed with the direction the Wii U went from the Wii. Other than the graphics upgrade, everything else felt kind of like a downgrade to me, so I was planning on not supporting the console and waiting until the next gen to get their next Wii version or whatever they'll call it.

So, should I replay the first game before allowing myself to start on the second one?

I would say yes on the principle of the fact that the first one is great too. But if you remember enough about the first game, there's really no reason to not to start the second one other than you just wanted to replay the first.

Played the demo and loved it. The bestbuy gamers club has been very nice purchase so far. 48.99 new.

Btw how long is it? W101 seemed to drag on a little too long for me.

And similarly, if I never played the first, I assume it is well worth-playing first, even if everyone will be discussing the new hotness?

Or is play-order (IE story) moot in this series?

From what I've been hearing, there are pros and cons for starting with either.

Bayo1
+ The story will be told linearly.
+ All of the characters will get introduced and developed in full.
+ The gameplay will evolve as you go from Bayo1->Bayo2.

Bayo2
+ The story is easier to get into.
+ The beginning of the game isn't as brutally hard.
+ Overall, probably a more polished game with less beginner frustrations.
+ Going back to play Bayo1 might be kind of cool in a prequel-sort-of-way

Don't totally dismiss the story for Bayo1. It starts off somewhat vapid and predictable, but the developer's intention was that having fewer developments would let the player focus on the gameplay and understanding the character's personalities. By the end of the game, they throw in a few developments/twists that I think are actually really cool. It isn't a conventional way to tell a story, but it serves the game well (imo).

I haven't played Bayo2 yet, so if anyone wants to correct my impressions then feel free!

Does someone know if Bayonetta 1 will be available as standalone purchase for Wii U. Or does it only come with the Bayonetta 2 special edition ?

It is digitally. I think it's $30 if you buy Bayo 1 first, but whichever order will equal $60 on the eShop as it does at retail.

I was thinking about starting with Bayo 1, but as the day of the launch comes closer and having already other games on the radar for this week (CIV:BE,Dreamfall and Kingdom Come) I'm more and more tempted to skip Bayo 1 and jump directly into Bayo 2. Still torn about this. Can you play Bayo 1 using Samus costume from the beginning?

Ah great. Was thinking of just getting Bayonetta 2 normal editing as I might never get around replaying the first game. But wouldn't wanna exclude myself though.

When I checked last week it seemed like Bayo2 was $49.99 when purchased digitally and it offered you Bayo1 for $9.99 if you bought it afterward. I didn't see anything on how much Bayo1 would be if you weren't purchasing Bayo2 for some reason.

Think it was on their website or in a PR. But yeah the pricing is different depending on the order.

Bayo 1 first = $30, Bayo 2 will then be $30.
Bayo 2 first = $50, Bayo 1 will then be $10.

Blimey, loads more high and perfect scores coming in. a real shame that those 60, 70 and 75 scores have fucked the Metacritic score. I'd be so pissed off with those 3 reviewers if I had worked on the game.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
I've played through the first Bayonetta 5 times. I'm still going to play through it just for the fact that it won't be the shitty PS3 version I've had to live with.
