BIGTIME TV MOGUL #2
While I never thought it would bomb, if one MCU movie was going to bomb, it was this one. The haters weren't exactly out in crazytown. Of course, after this you'd have to be a little out of touch to predict any MCU bombas. I think everything coming up on Marvel's plate for Phase 3 is bulletproof until Inhumans.

For doing something so creepy on an internet forum that you were basically branded for it?

I could not even criticize a scene in the movie without the OP jumping on my comment in the Ant Man Thread. Not surprised by the thread title after seeing who created it.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
loyalty to corporations on this forum and elsewhere is just too damn creepy.
Yeah, that plus the insane amount of attention put towards reviews and sales. Personal validation from stuff like that is getting to be an illness.

Sorry while I enjoyed the film, I still thought the character development and exposition was very weak. In true Marvel form the movie had great action sequences, strong CGI and funny quips. But they tried to do way too much character development In way too short of time, so important bits felt very cliche'd and I ended up feeling next to no attachment to the characters. I would have loved for the first film to be about Hank Pym and his wife (Captain America style) to get us invested at least in Hank, his daughter and the importance and urgency of his mission. With the way it was presented and condensed into less than two hours it just didn't feel right.

Edit: But I'm totally enjoying this thread. This development is GOAT.

Love these threads. I wouldn't put it together myself but I love them. Some people will spend more time in this thread than he did putting it together. Also ant man was amazing.

I doubt people will spend a year in this thread.

I will never understand the obsession with screaming "You were wrong!" on the Internet. Seems like some people need other's opinions shot down to validate their own.

This is a great appetizer to the main course Batman V Superman. That first trailer reactions were glorious.

I'm surprised that so many people thought ant-man was going to be failure, at worst it would of done Thor 1/Dark World numbers and even then it still wouldn't be a let down. I think the problem is a lot of people jumped the gun when Edgar exited and made their mind up that it was going to fail because of that.

Isn't Ant-Man's opening weekend well below the two Thor films?

movie completely surprised me and its easily up there with the best MCU movies for me (Winter Soldier, Guardians, Ironman 1)

I hope it does well enough for a sequel

I don't know what those made worldwide opening weekend, if it's what box office mojo says on the opening weekend numbers then no, Ant-Man is projected to make more than both Thors and GOTG.

Either way it's projected to make over 110 million opening weekend and that's far from a fail especially considering the amount of positive reviews it's getting and raves on twitter. It's going to make a great deal of money before it exits to DVD/Blu-ray. I also don't go buy opening weekend guesstimates i like to wait till the actual numbers come out.

You're comparing Ant-Man's worldwide opening with Thor, Thor 2, and GOTG's domestic openings.

Seems like an ok weekend, but not spectacular. It's their lowest opening since The Incredible Hulk, and on a pretty similar budget. Given the property, and the name of the super hero though, it's pretty good. Pretty close to the openings of the first Captain America and Thor movies. A solid opening commercially and critically for a new franchise. I'd expect the next set of heroes will open bigger (Strange, BP, etc).

For those saying it bombed, I accept this.

If they're saying it's "bad", then that's a subject of taste. If they acknowledge that they like the movie, but a year or two ago said it looked like shit, then commence crow.
