After playing Outer Rim content almost exclusively since it released, I played several large modes this weekend and I have to say the Scatter Gun works so well on the bigger maps. I was running a T-21 so just beyond mid range is the sweetspot, so those with blaster rifles or blaster pistols always try to close the distance to gain the edge. Nope. When they move in I do the same and introduce them to trusty ol' Scats and win most of those encounters.

For me, it really diversifies my options because I have long range, close range, shield penetration, one-shot kills, respectable damage to heroes, and a Droid/Turret killer. Loving it!

That's not overly difficult imo. I get tons of kills with the Ion Torpedo on Walker Assault.
And if you play two/three rounds of Fighter Squadron, you've got the vehicles done as well.
Nah, easy peasy this one.

So... the Mandalorian Strength (Berserker) trait card. Any guess or rumours as to what it does?

Extra speed while running and/or greater height on jumps?
Bigger HP pool?
Melee becomes a 1-shot kill 100% of the time instead of the RNG-fest that it is at the moment?

I'm all for something to entice me away from using Scout 100% of the time. Bodyguard is close since, in theory, its a massive survivability boost but I can't give up the radar invisibility while sprinting with Scout and the Rank 2 and 3 bonuses are just gravy.

I've been enjoying the Adrenaline Stim card lately and have been wondering if its something that would work well in concert with the shorter health regen of Survivalist. But I suppose if I'm looking for synergy with Adrenaline Stim, Bodyguard would still be the better choice since it effectively extends your HP pool, either partially or fully depending on Rank.

Well the 1 million credits could be a problem for most, but I'll go ahead and assume it's just a placeholder amount.

Based on the leaked information
it gives you extra blaster damage when you are injured at levels 1 and 2, and extra blaster damage and damage resistance at level 3.

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBa...95z/details_of_all_new_content_including_ion/

Not sure if I'd give up scout for that just yet, but it sounds really strong. Probably full on terminator mode when you hit level 3 on it.

On the other hand, not sure if I like traits that increase blaster damage. It could potentially be OP as sin.

Did he do the Survival briefings for this or was it a soundalike?
I don't think think so, the IMDB page for the game lists Tom Kane as Ackbar's voice actor.

Hope DICE puts some sort of in-game tribute though. No one can deny his voice was iconic, and how much fun came from all the memes.

Starting to regret getting the season pass now, how can they DLC be in such a bad state?

They have their monies. What do they care about after that?

Seriously, i suspect they have only a small team working on BF and its DLC at the moment, the rest are helping with Mirror's Edge and this year's Battlefield probably.
Not that this means buggy state of the DLC and the game in general is acceptable.

What do you mean with bad state?

For me, the maps look great. But they play really awful and are locked behind a seperate playlist with gamemodes some people dont wanna play.

im kinda pissed about that first DLC map wise, the weapons etc was nice. The Maps, not so much.

But that isnt a reason for me to regret the Season Pass. I will wait how the next Pack turns out before saying such stuff... (i hope bespin and beyond will be way better)

All the bugs in it, I can understand a couple of issues here & there on PC with all the different configurations of hardware but not on a closed system like the PS4.

I cannot progress the Hut Contracts like many others, then there are the poor people who are having levelling problems getting dropped back down a level instead of progressing, I cannot code but the people making this content are paid professionals & issues like this are getting worse & worse as the years go on, I know I am going OT, but how hard can it be to sort this out, do they even bother to test this content, just really starting to get fed up now with broken games.

Today has been absolutely dreadful. Played like 3 games before turning my Xbox off.

In a single match I can count upwards of 6 pulse cannon/ion disruptor hits that did absolutely nothing while being straight hits. How this hasn't been fixed yet is beyond me.

Also:
- Hero icons disappearing constantly when I am one step away.
- Enemy AI controlled entities seem to loathe my very existence. Infantry turrets and probe droids will fucking insta target me on sight and gib me faster than anything. Meanwhile my turrets have difficulty locking onto a guy who just keeps walking past them. Then there's also the 'not so random' AT-AT gibs, great fun.
- The second I step into any vehicle, AT-ST or fighter, everyone suddenly has ion torpedos and whatever packed and ready to go. Meanwhile, when our team is getting fodderized by one, I have to go scouring the map for a disruptor or a rocket in order to finally take it down.
- Best. Spawns. Ever. /s. No really. Keep spawning me straight in front of that Luke, AT-ST or player controlled AT-AT.
- Personal, fucking, shield. It's like armor lock from Halo, but mobile. It stays on way too fucking long and being forced to carry a cycler rifle or scatter gun is just ugh.

Playing a borrowed copy on PS4 and I think that even the PC servers are more populated/better at match making. What happened with this game? I want to like it but I just can't.

Was getting caught part of your plan?

What kind of bizarro universe are you playing in?

Seriously, I'm playing this morning (PS4) and everything is still in it's tip top shape population wise.

I was hoping that was a place holder also. Because I saw 1 million credits and said screw that.

Luckily, I always find matches quickly on PS4 as well.

Sounds to me you're having a bit of bad luck playing.
Sometimes we all have that feeling that everything and their mother is against us.
And on a sidenote: why not equip an Ion torpedo/grenade yourself, instead of scouring the map for a powerup?

Uh... No...they're not?

Unlocked the Dt19 or whatever the free new sniper is called. Been playing a bit with a triple snipe load out: the new sniper, pulse canon, and cycler rifle. It's a ton of fun but it feels like it's more work than necessary to get kills. That loud single shot is oh so satisfying though.

Yesterday, on Twitter, I won a Season Pass code (UK) for this on the PS4. I don't own the game.

I'm just wondering if anybody would be interested in swapping it for something? Xbox One, PS4, 3DS, Wii U codes all welcome...

The poor hit detection has been present in DICE games for years, since at least BF2. But the frequency you describe, along with the rapid turret/droid lock-ons, sounds more like a latency issue.

From what I've observed, though I have no net perf overlay to confirm anything since I'm on PS4, is that your server site isn't set between map rotations. From personal experience, I can go from one map where I'm nailing every EE-3 burst and barely having to lead my shots, to the next map in the rotation where I'm firing rubber bullets and I have to lead my shots as though I'm using a garden hose.

To me this seems like the matchmaking system is mixing and matching groups from different server locations between maps in the rotation and picking the best one for the majority of players. Sort of like the way Mario Kart handles it on the Wii U. e.g. AU and EU sharing the same matchmaking region in MK8 is good and bad depending on the origin of the majority of players. It would certainly line up with the way I got Survivors of Endor in two out of three maps in a rotation the other week with only one map in between. Either the rotation was glitched or our players got mixed in with players on another server.

I assume you're in the US, so these instances of bad hit detection and rapid AI lock-ons could be a result of you being placed in a server in another country. If you're an extra 100-200ms away from the server, those lock-ons are going to be a bit quicker (1.5s lock-on time before latency is factored in?). DICE's connection quality indicators are worthless, since I get max bars yet also get occasional bad connection indicators, and I can say with almost 100% certainty that any Australian servers I'm connecting to will be with at least 70-80 ms ping due to distance (no one puts game servers in Perth that aren't owned by users or ISPs).

The rest...spawns only seem to suck for me when the walkers are vulnerable in walker assault and the map boundary is unlocked. But for everytime I get attacked at the spawn, theres been a time where I've been moving to flank as Imperial and had 4+ Rebels spawn on top of me. I also dont mind personal shield but thats because I love the Cycler Rifle/Scatter Gun, and often carry Ion Shot on certain maps.

Hero token behaviour is weird though. There's been times I've run through one repeatedly and been unable to pick it up despite no item equipped, and I've also seen two spawn next to each other in the shadowed side of the sandcrawler on Jundland Wastes WA.

I keep trying to like the Relby V10 but theres no getting around its mediocrity.

A simple weapon comparison on Symthic between the Relby and the A280C pretty much sums up the sad state of affairs for the weapon.

I don't mind it as a semi-auto rifle in principle but they should mix up the properties a bit. Give it a greater projectile velocity or ramp the damage (and heat generation). Anything really that would make it less... *meh*

This is definitely not true. I think you were having an isolated issue. PS4 is by far the highest population and fastest matchmaking. You can even choose your region in the settings for better results.

I've played The Outer Rim for 2 weeks now and I have some praise and some criticism.

Praise:
  • Hutt Contracts - I love not just having to level up and buy the new stuff. It is actually forcing me to use things I never touch. I actually really enjoyed sniping fools in their personal shields with the Cycler, a gun I had zero kills with prior to TOR.
  • Extraction - I love this new mode. I just wish it had it's own playlist. More on this in Criticism.
  • The Maps - I really love the new maps. Sullust has a very Bespin carbonite chamber feel to it. I know we'll be getting the actual Bespin in the summer, but this will do for now. Jabba's Palace is fun, but I am really impressed with the layout of Jabba's Garage. I've had some really epic battles in the Sail Barge room.
  • Nien Nunb - I was skeptical about them including such minor characters, but his abilities are seriously cool. I have yet to use Greedo, so I can't comment on him.
  • Level 60 - I like that my EXP is going towards a new goal again.
  • New Trophies - Always welcome.
  • Fixes to Heroes vs. Villains - Being able to select your Hero makes this 10x better.
  • Nerfs to Homing Shot - I know this isn't new, but I still have to praise this decision. My deaths to Homing Shot have dropped to almost zero.

Criticism:
  • The Bugs - Seriously. There are so many. Hutt Contracts at 100% won't go away, so I can view those that I'm actually working on. 0 credits at the end, I know I'm getting them, but how is this not fixed yet? Hutt Contracts stalling out.
  • The DLC weapons - They all seem underpowered. And this worries me. I feel like DICE didn't want to be criticized for making the game pay-to-win by making the DLC guns better than the OG offerings, but they should at least be equal. Or better in some scenarios, worse in others. I love the Relby, but it needs some tweaks. Less recoil and/or more power and the gun will be perfect. Dioxis grenades rarely kill. The DT-12 is trash. Why give us guns, that we paid for, if we can't use them competitively?
  • The Outer Rim Playlist - I want to play the new maps in Blast with the OG maps. I don't like that I'm stuck to one playlist where there are modes I can't stand like Droid Run or Cargo. Why not both? Or make it like Destiny where certain days, or weeks, certain playlists become DLC only? Like every Tuesday, Supremacy becomes a DLC playlist. Wednesday is Blast. Something like that. And Extraction needs its own playlist. I don't even care if they don't add in any of the older maps. Just keep it the 4 from the DLC. Turning Point had one map for months, so why can't this mode have only 4?

I haven't played the new Hero Hunt yet, but I'm hoping it truly is better since I've hated that mode since November.

Yeah I'm going to go ahead and say there's no way that's the cost.
It's definitely not. When you check star cards the app shows your current credits at the top of the screen. It already does this today, so that picture is showing the credits of whoever did the leak.

Just logged off on PS4 due to much of what you listed, turret insta gib ftw, plus two CE errors after rounds ended and the loss of a level. Something is up on dice/ea side of things.

Love hate relationship with this game goes on. Level design, maps, sound, graphics are superb. The problem is the actual gameplay, spawns, weapon imbalance hit detection etc.
