Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

Don't see how Emily was proven wrong when her tweet about Mother 3 was that it was happening in 2016. It's June. She was also right about voice acting in the new Zelda. It seems like people are desperate to discredit her.

She got correctly that Zelda was coming to both Wii U and NX (kind of expected) and there would have been VA (that was not expected) while female option was considered by Anouma. 2/3 with the other not completely unfounded is not bad. Something similar happened with Gematsu's Smash rumours: they were absolutely on point at start (Wii Fit trainer was like VA in Zelda, a way-too-specific detail to guess correctly that easily), but they were wrong on Chrom and Chorus Kids. Then, through interviews, we've become aware they were indeed a thing at one point, then dropped.

So, yeah, right now Emily's credibility is still in a pretty good spot right now. And I want to highlight "right now", because...well, if Mother 3 doesn't show up at all this year (I don't think she specified E3 at any time, just that it was going to be announced this year), that will hurt her credibility much more considerably, especially if it happens with no explanation on the matter (like happened instead for female option in Zelda). And she wouldn't be the only one who would see her credibility lowered.

She was going to be 3/3 but you can't alter the Triforce to have more than 2 right answers. It would throw it off!

Edit: Oops thought I was in two different threads

The detailed Eurogamer vouching isn't anything to ignore, so I think that they just don't have it ready yet. I imagine they would want to do an "available now" release like they did for Earthbound and Beginnings.

I guess I understand that but man Mother 3 is a big enough bomb drop that I think it would have been fine to do it without it being an available now release.

I was working during most of the past two days, but I definitely enjoyed what I managed to see of the stream. Good job, Treehouse! You guys are great!

At this point they are waiting for NX or something, I can't see Nintendo dropping it just like that.
Honestly, I'd prefer that to having it on the Wii U.

I'll cut Emily some slack. I think the "no female option" was a really big thing to me to get wrong. She seemed very sure on that saying you could choose between a boy and a girl. I mean it's not like Aonuma just made the decision to keep Link as a male. This decision was made a long time ago.

I feel you, but I do think that Nintendo doesn't want to make people wait any longer than they have to. Making the previous games immediately available did wonders for their visibility, and I don't see them changing that, especially with the history this game has had.

Yes. She says she never said it'd be at E3, just 2016, and that there are still six months left.
She actually put a poll on Twitter like a week before E3 asking people about when they thought Mother 3 would be announced. E3 was an option, so was Fall 2016

She deserves zero credit for the Wii U/NX cross-platform. That was obvious.

VA was a huge hope and certainly a possibility. She didn't mention the extent of VA which makes it easier.

So basically, if she doesn't get every single rumor accurate, then let's throw shit at her? She got 2 out of 3 Zelda rumors correct, the Paper Mario rumor correct, and the Mother 3 rumor (which Eurogamer is backing) has yet to be disproven.

Should we also stop treating Destructoid as a legit source for information too? They claimed that Linkle would be in the game.

We here at Destructoid have heard that the playable female character may very well be Linkle, who was introduced recently in Hyrule Warriors Legends, but like all rumors take these with a grain of salt.

You really going to give her credit for the voice acting rumor? The rumor said there is "voice acting for most of the characters except Link." In the game, it's only Zelda. The strange old man is clearly going to be an important character, but no voice acting.

It is very likely she just had a bad source. Happens.

Rogers wasn't really that far off base about female option for Zelda, I mean Aonuma did admit that the idea was at least explored.

They used to be public but a couple of months ago, people started attacking her, so she made her profile private.

I'm at least glad he's on the 'Zelda would be the playable female character' side of things. Zelda's in the title, she should be playable first.

Just like Zelda is probably the first voiced character in the series.
