Why are we expecting her to be reasonable? She just found out someone she trusted might be a serial killer; for all she knew, she could have ended up a victim without suspecting a thing. That's a traumatic experience to go through, so I'll forgive her not being more politic with her response.

Anyway, truly a horrifying story. Hopefully the victim is able to get counseling and the support she needs to resume some semblance of a normal life.

Not feeling confident they'll find Charlie Carver alive, especially now with info about supposed bodies buried on the property. At least Brown was found alive.

How can you recover from something like this though? I mean Jesus. To know your BF is dead and then god knows what else he did to her. How do you recover?

The initial story gave me the creeps. He chained her like a dog in a metal container for two months, not to mention that her man is still missing...insanity.

Crazy case all around.

We really need to shrink the Sex Offender Registry down. Flooding it with sexting teens and mooning knuckleheads has taken a lot of attention off of violent offenders like the culprit here.

Rapists and kidnappers should absolutely have their property combed over on a bi-annual basis at the minimum, but the resources won't be there if we piss away time focusing on nonviolent offenders that don't belong on the list in the first place.

I think the chance of them finding the guy alive is slim to none.

This dude is sex-offender and I am not a lawyer or cop, but keeping a girl chained around the neck in a metal container that he visited frequently for about an hour sounds like a sexually motivated crime to me.

What reason would he have for keeping her boyfriend alive for two months? I mean, if they had found him with her... maybe. But it's not looking good for him I don't think

Jeez, I remember reading the original story and wondering about all sorts of weird possibilities - but none of them as dark or horrific as this, the world is a scary place sometimes.

Hope she gets the help she needs.

I couldn't agree more. Because of how frivolous the reasons to register are, it is not taken seriously. This needs to be pushed for change. No one who just moons someone should be on there. The ones on there should actually have committed sex crimes and be subject to searches for life.

So I'm guessing they traced the IP, from which the Facebook posts were made, to Kohlhepp's home, at which point they looked up if he owned any property, and they found the remote land where she was found.

There isn't even a house on that land.

This is so scary.

I wouldn't be shocked if she knew he was a weird creep, and might have been the one to call in the tip, but doesn't want to admit it publicly for fear of the backlash. She hired a sex offender for a position that interacts with people in their homes, driving people places, etc. I think she knows she's fucked if it comes out she was anything less than naive and stupid.
