Well we have still yet to see how Sea of thieves and State of decay do( I think those 2 have the best chance at success), I don't expect much front. Rackdown or scalebound. Halo wars will do fine but that's not something to build a franchise withYes but ND replace UC with TLOU .
MS can't seem to be able to replace there IP that losing sales.
That is the big problem .
Lawd have mercy.
What were the sales of the XBone version of TR to compare?
~175k
Can someone ask Claire for an RPG update? DQ Builders, DQVII, Tales of berseria, maybe even star ocean, etc?
-Gears of War 4 sold ~415K / 505K
-Uncharted 4 879k / <950k
Who would believe this some time ago?
Wow that is abysmal. Gonna be hard to see how a 3rd installment will get green-lit and funded.
It'll have decent legs and sale will help, I think. Still, maybe the next game will be console exclusive again?
Yeah. UC4 was their farewell to the franchise.
Beautiful. It's been amazing to be back. Glad to see the thirst is quite real lol
So Titanfall did 875K on Xbox One and PC in March 2014 with the Xbox One base being fuck all.
Titanfall 2 does 175K on PS4/Xbox One with both install bases being far being 2 and a half years later.
I'll say it again, that tech test fucking DESTROYED this game. Respawn fucked up hard with the multiplayer. Hard. The release date simply finished the job.
But the decline was already in place. Aligned for installed bases the launch is essentially where you'd expect it to be...if you had any sense.
I think their eyes were opened by h4s lack of legs, and the failure of MCC... that's why Warzone exists.
You aren't wrong. I went from pure hype to literal frustration at how bad that tech test was. They killed their own game before it even launched. I'll wait for it to be $5 and pick it up for the campaign (which probably won't be far from now lol. It's already down to $25)So Titanfall did 875K on Xbox One and PC in March 2014 with the Xbox One base being fuck all.

And I'll buy Skyrim (for a 3rd time) once I get Switch. Skyrim is in my top 3 video games of all time and I will buy it to play it on whatever console I own that they release it on lol. It's rumored to be a Switch launch title... so even more sales incoming.
Practically every mainline Halo game aside from the first one launched to different install bases and still pulled ~3.3 million, so that doesn't hold much water for me.
I'm sure they expected a drop. Just not one as big as H5 suffered.
Is Claire posting real numbers from NPD on twitter? Verified? Isn't that Aqua?
Que sera, seraPoor S-E nothing.
They knew what they signed up for the moment they agreed to the timed exclusivity.
How much did it cost them to secure the IP from Epic (not to mention the development costs) ~ I doubt they spent all that money with lowballed forecasts. Those deals popping up days before the game's release should've been indicator that the preorders were lower than they would've liked.RE: MS First Party, it's clear there has been a frame shift in how these games perform and (likely) what MS expects from them.

If Respawn gets a chance to make another Titanfall game I really hope they take a long hard look at the differences between TF1 and 2 and realize the direction they decided to go for the sequel was not what the majority of the fanbase wanted. As mentioned many times before, the Beta was a horror-show and there was a ton of feedback as to why but Respawn thought that minor tweaks would fix everything instead of taking a lot of the concepts back to the drawing board. I wish them the best of luck.

That's exactly why it SHOULD hold water. Between h3, reach, and 4 there was no growth, despite the growth of the Xbox platform. Which means a shrinking percentage of their user base was interested in Halo.
Between H4 and MCC you have an INCREASE in dissatisfaction among remaining fans, AND
a smaller user base. H4 had a MASSIVE drop off in players weeks after launch. H3 was a most played game for YEARS. MCC DESTROYED consumer confidence and goods will.
A Smaller percentage of a smaller number + contempt = a steep decline. No internal analyst should be surprised by that. These are the signs they are paid to see, and they were in plain sight.
Just a bombardment of huge $60 games released. Not surprised to see some disappointments.
I bought TR PS4, but I wish I didn't. Was a huge disappointment for me.
Those are the launch numbers. Across both Xbox and 360. I don't agree with your perspective.
What you see as a lack of growth for Halo, I see as a extremely solid and loyal fan base that existed even on the original Xbox (it also sold >3 mil also).
I'm sure MS saw a decline coming with Halo. But I just don't see them forseeing a 70% decline.
Thats actually good :O
I'll say this for the 437th time. All they had to do was:
- Improve visuals
- Add sliding
- Add campaign
- Add more MP content
That's it. NOTHING ELSE. They did all of the above and then starting changing MORE shit no one asked for.
Definitely. Bf1 had the benefit of returning to historical war. Titanfall was never going to compete with Call of Duty. It was a terrible week to release that game.3 AAA $60 first person shooters in a row.
What could go wrong?
The game is the best reviewed FPS of the year to my knowledge. I loved TF1, but the community evaporated in about an hour after release so the changes made were most likely studied well beforehand to make the game more appealing to a wider audience.
I didn't like the beta either, but the final product is amazing
EA fucked them by releasing at the same time as CoD and BF
That's a bold take. But I kinda like it.I think EAs plan was to use titanfall 2 to hurt COD and let BF1 make the real money. Sucks for titanfall and respawn but its probably a smart longterm move.
