Extensive new details on Zelda Breath of the Wild from Game Informer (Maybe spoilers)

The only negatives I can see from that info is the lack of a more traditional Zelda Dungeon design and the lack of traditional Zelda items (whether they are found in a Dungeon/Temple or out in the world). Everything else sounds great. Will have to wait for more info or reviews to get a better understanding.

But it seems they're being replaced with the sheikah tablet functionality. We've only seen 3 of them so far too, the magnetize, water freezer and the kinetic energy freeze

And Bombs. So four. And there's the Korok Leaf+Paraglider so 5. Fire Rod and Lightning rod so 7.

I don't think we'll be lacking items which have interesting utility.

The Slate will essentially be your Swiss Army knife in terms of equipment (and maps) outside specialized things like the Fire Rod and glider, is what I'm getting from this.

Based on the screenshots / concept art from that video,
it looks like you might be able regain control of the giant mechs, all of which do have similar but distinct interiors, maybe you could use them to traverse the overworld or fight the bigger calamity?

The Wind Blight Ganon Fight looks Hype af. Oh my god it looks like we're getting the ideal incarnation of Zelda Bosses in this game.

We've seen 4 bosses so far now? Wind Blight Ganon, Hinox, Steppe Talus, the sand boss in the superbowl commercial. Hope there's a lot more, don't want to keep seeing the same bosses throughout the world/shrines

People already getting disappointed over a summary of a preview that doesn't say much is funny

Can't wait to see the tears during the launch week (and for those who play the game it'll be best to just enjoy it and not to read all the hate based on biased assumptions

And yeah, there's no point in getting spoiled if you want to play the game, these kind of mechanics are best appreciated when you discover them in an open world game. That's the beauty of it, the first 3 hours are magic

I don't see how any of these are spoilers.

"Spoiler" is not just about the story these days, it's basically anything that could ruin your experience with too much détails on the gameplay, mechanics so that you don't enjoy the discovery. It's a game, not a book, so that's on point as an extensive definition

The damned thread claims there will be spoilers. If people did not want to read spoilers they should not enter this thread.

I bet the Master Sword breaks off in Ganon's fucking head or something.

Either way, I bet it breaks at the end of the game.

If that happens would Demise his soul not be freed? He is locked inside the blade right?

By that logic the Master Sword being shown at the end of the first trailer is a really big spoiler. I mean if you're on that extensive of a media blackout then why go into a thread at all about new details about the games.

Anyone read the article? Some of the details are a bit more exciting than how they come off in list form. Descriptions of roaming the wild and fighting
Wind Blight Ganon
were pretty colorful.

Dungeon design reminds me philosophically of Portal (but scaled up) - the overall objective is apparent, but how you choose/plan to go about achieving it and then actually executing it is where the fun will lie.

Also, on shrines, he seemed to be under the impression that all[ shrines have two objectives/puzzles; one primary (that likely results in an orb) and one secondary that is more difficult to achieve. The writer experienced this with the two shrines he tackled, and I believe he is assuming that all of the other shrines will function the same way (don't think this has been confirmed anywhere else so it's a leap).

Yeah, she's a bit off on the shrines since we saw one at e3 that had multiple stages and looped in on itself. They're not all going to use the same act structure.

Exactly. Gaurentee we will see a hook shot like device for some sort of grapple hook. The traversal mechanics and physics system are asking for its.

Likewise - have they shown this boss or something?

I googled him and he was in the first picture, now I regret it. Going back to semi-black out mode.

EDIT: I really don't get the fears and complains about supposedly not enough dungeons or whatever. If it was another Oot clone everybody would complain too.
I really look forward to new stuff, it's about experiencing thing you never knew you wanted.

Where do I find the images?

The digital issue of this Game Informer has been released so anyone with a digital subscription has access to the main article where the details appear. There's probably some images of stuff like the boss. iFirez posted a video in this thread that has the screenshots from the magazine, but that video has spoilers and analysis of the article's details so be warned. I don't know if anywhere else has posted them yet, but they are probably already out if you google for them.

Dang, they are really abandoning all the trademarks. Not that I am complaining. Having that music play for a freaking compass is silly

That isn't really a trademark though. Ocarina of Time started it.

And if it means the game will stop telling me how to use bombs, arrows, and explain what a damn Rupee is every time i get one, it's a welcome omission

I dont plan on getting a switch anytime soon, but boy am I excited to play this game.

I'm not even going to read most of these bulletpoints. After XV, i am totally going blackout mode on games like this from now on.

The master sword has to be unbreakable right? Having to craft and look for weapons because they are constantly breaking/disintegrating is probably going to get old real quick.

What did she say?
All The 7 shrines I've seen on video had an optional and not that hard to miss bonus chest inside, if that's what the secondary objective means.

Also, nowhere in the article was it confirmed that there were 4 dungeons.

Obviously it is easy for us to make the leap - 4 Giant Guardians -> 4 "moving" dungeons, further corroborated by the "leaks" around E3 2016. But still no official confirmation - the door is still open for more than 4.

Since the master sword looks beat up when it was revealed, odds are that there is a magical way to repair it. And from the gameplay vids I've seen, weapons are plentiful as enemies carry many varieties. I don't think we will have much trouble maintaining a small armory. Hopefully :)

On that initial E3 long play with Nintendo Treehouse I'm almost 100% certain someone said there would be a way to repair items eventually. I also think that the durability at the start would make sense to be quite low so you are forced to try a bunch of different weapons, and then the more "high level" enemies would have weapons with more durability (Maybe even you can "reinforce" them to add durability to a weapon you really like?

Not reading any of this want to go in blind.

Could someone just tell me though

Overall does it sound really good, mediocre, or bad?

Anyone else dislike the functionality of the sheikah stone? It feels way too much like a modern tablet and I find it ridiculous. Feels out of place to me and like it doesn't belong into the fantasy setting of the game.

Guardians are robot spiders that shoot lasers. Doesnt seem out of place to me.

The fantasy setting of a game about the revival of an ancient civilization with advanced tech like robots, computers, guns, and giant moving fortresses?

I only want to know one thing without spoiling everything else: any mention of where it takes place on the timeline here?

Well many games have pulled primitive robots and lasers in a fantasy setting pretty well like skyrim or dishonored 2 and even past Zelda games had those but I don't know something about a digital pocket map which you can also use to add new data to it seems way too modern and off for the Zelda setting to me. I guess it is just me.
