Spicey taking day off.

of course he is

even though he ended his off-camera briefing yesterday by saying there would be a briefing today in connecticut

His recollection? He wrote a fucking memo right after it happened. He's not trying to remember what he had for dinner last Saturday.

They don't know what else to say. They're putting out these denials anonymously because they know they're not true and they didn't even bother to ask Trump since he stormed off to the residence an hour after the story broke

Kushner like Trump are probably shitting themselves as the IC look into their businesses. Russia leads to so much more.

I saw it mentioned yesterday, but this whole situation really just makes you wonder why the hell Trump and the White House want to protect Flynn so badly. I don't think they've had a single bad thing to say about him, and in fact they've actually defended and praised him since the firing. Suggesting that he was wronged. What exactly does he know that makes them want to go to back for him like this?

The POTUS is mad he can't think for himself.

Also...that just the way he speaks excuse sounds like someone making fun of him. I can't think they were serious with that.

Still, it's just going to turn into a 'he said/he said' with the POTUS. Even though this POTUS is a piece of shit, it's not going to get anywhere with the Republicans.

But, pressure is mounting. This is another Jenga piece removed from the Trump presidency.

Could be as simple as the president not wanting to admit that he made the wrong choice, or that he didn't do his due diligence. Not as if we haven't seen such behavior from him before.

The WH can say whatever they want....the NYT isn't going to run a story of this magnitude and with the ramifications it carries without having the goods. Not happening.

I think it's got to the point where they're just clueless as to how to defend him so they're basically to "it didn't happen" as an explanation for everything...

Oh good, that means he'll clarify that that's exactly what he meant in a few hours

judging by the last days, he'll wait a few hours, till the wh has this official line of defense and than he'll tweet:

"its true. all of it. i ordered comey to stop the investigation because flynn is an honorable man"

Always fun to recall that 'memo' is short for 'memorandum'. Traditionally:

The original use was as an adjective, placed at the head of a note of something to be remembered or of a record made for future reference.

In other words, that's what memos are for.

I think it's his ties to Russia and the investigation.

But they aren't even this way with Manafort even though he has a bunch of legal shit surrounding him as well. And he's also in deep with Russia. It comes across as if there's something specific about Flynn that they want to protect.

It's like a mafia family. Flynn is more loyal and has proven himself more than Manafort. The whole thing works exactly like the mafia. It's mostly about loyalty and how fully one believes in and follows the orders of the mob boss.

That's what stands out to me. Trump normally has no problems throwing people under the bus to protect his own ass.

So Fox News is basically a branch of Russia Today at this point, no?

Why is this guy's opinion even relevant to FOX viewers?

Because FOX and their viewers through years of cultivation have nurtured the dangerous idea that the majority of American news media "lies" about the GOP, Christians, White people etc. (aka the people trying to "save this country) for the sake of controversy to the point that even historical enemies of the US are more trustworthy.

Sad thing is, the viewers don't benefit at all. In fact, they lose their rights, health care and financial stability while the people at Fox get to enjoy the position of being the only state-run media in the "new era" while all other competitors are jailed for not telling the truth. Fox has shown itself willing to lie openly on the chance that it gains them power in whatever dictatorship their expecting.

What is a "Comey memo"? Just something he wrote down? Why aren't Trump supporters just saying Comey is lying? ...or are they?

Comey's memos are multiple pages per memo in high detail about every conversation and meeting he had with Trump. Normal thing for FBI agents to do, they create fallback for when accurate recall is needed and just general paper trail. Something you don't easily strike down as lies.

.@CBSThisMorning reached out to 20 republican senators and representatives as well as to the White House to appear today -- all declined

Ouch, not defending him. You know saying nothing makes it worse right?

Conversations with some officials who have briefed Trump and others who are aware of how he absorbs information portray a president with a short attention span.

He likes single-page memos and visual aids like maps, charts, graphs and photos.

National Security Council officials have strategically included Trump's name in "as many paragraphs as we can because he keeps reading if he's mentioned," according to one source, who relayed conversations he had with NSC officials.

Trump likes to look at a map of the country involved when he learns about a topic.

"He likes to visualize things," said a senior administration official. "The guy's a builder. He has spent his whole life looking at architectural renderings and floor plans."

FBI memos are notes kept by agents of calls they have with people and are admissible in a court of law as evidence iirc.

edit: Calling the memo a lie would require an admission the memo exists. While it's obvious that it does as per reporting by multiple agencies they see it easier to shriek "fake news".
