Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin -Saturday September 16th |OT| This is Boxing

Completely missing my point. I disagree with that one card just as much as anyone. All I'm saying is that even if that card was much closer (but still in favor of Alvarez) then the outcome would had still been a draw. So no reason to go berzerk for that one card as far as the actual outcome is concerned.

Thanks for the calm reply. I'm not going beserk. Yes the final outcome is a draw. The scoring should reflect that in some fashion. Even as an Alvarez fan you have to admit that that score is suspect.

When you prefer a fighter over another, it's easy to look for "ways" for them to win rounds on your card.

Or you know you maybe we understand the sport better. I love both fighters and it's beyond obvious that GGG won. Didn't just win he dominated. Again the worse case is 7-5 for GGG.

Next fight won't be in Vegas and GGG - now aware of what Canelo actually offers up will crush him.

You don't understand the sport as much as you think if you think GGG dominated.

And , other that outlandish scorecard from the first judge, Actually does that. The second judge had GGG winning by only 2 points and the third was a plain draw. The mismatch is meaningless even if Canelo had won by one point only. The outrage is more fishy than the scorecard honestly.

Now show the next literal second with gggs fists in canelos mouth. He hit him, but he didn't slow ggg down. It's boxing.

For real? What brand do you recommend for wraps. I've just been using the Mexican ones. But want to get washables. Same with gloves.. I hear avoid everlast..?

It actually is not, because the score is so lopsided in it scoring. That it's an issue of bias or incompetence.

A punch doesn't suddenly not count just because a guy walks through it. It's not like GGG hurt Canelo either. If you are using that metric that's even more reason to call it close/draw.

I mean, volume doesn't mean everything but he landed 4 more power punches. The fight was a lot closer in terms of power/damaging shots than people want to believe. Canelo was backing up a lot, yes, but he was also exchanging.

Doesn't matter. A damaged fighter is always dangerous, they have no other choice. Ggg dominated the fight and took Canelos best shot and didn't care. A part 2 would of happened without that shit card.

You can't say 7-5 is acceptable, while saying GGG dominated.

Just admit that the fight was super close.

No one would be fuming if Byrd scored it 7-5 for Canelo.

Canelo took GGG's best shot as well. What exactly is your point? I mean, if you honestly think GGG dominated I don't know what to tell you.

see both of their faces, canelo had basically nothing while ggg did have bruises.

I'm not saying it doesn't count they all count. But there's context here. I think canelos weight gain slowed him down for doing it the first time in his career. Ggg didn't hurt canelo, but this fight was vastly more technical than I think all hoped. After a while it was clear canelo gassed out. That's why I give it to ggg. He had better cardio and stamina, and skill in this one. My money was on canelo.

@ above visual damage can be just that. Gggs face was bunged up after Jacobs too. I'm saying he responded to all of conelos shots. While Canelo got tired.

Maybe, maybe not.

Incompetence i can agree. Bias? Come on being so loopsided will make it so obvious.

The thing here is that even by one point favoring Canelo it wouldn't make any difference, why nobody is talking shit about the draw scorecard if Golovkin won by such a landslide according to some of you.

I think cardio did have an effect, and it did absolutely affect Canelo in some of the middle rounds, but he won the final 3 on all the judges scorecards, so he seemingly recovered somewhat. GGG won a lot of the middle rounds big, but they were just individual rounds. They weren't 10-8. They counted the same as the rounds Canelo won. I think some people underestimate how close a fight like this can be when it comes to scoring. Even if you had it 8-4 GGG, or 7-5 GGG, in a fight where some of the rounds were fairly close, all you need is a couple of rounds to be scored the other way and all of a sudden that's a draw. The margin for a fight like this to go from a win for one guy, to a draw or a win for the other guy, is incredibly small.

He did dominate. What's your point?

Cool. If you keep saying it maybe it'll come true.

For everyone that dismissed Jacobs in his fight with GGG:

Canelo did not prove to be a harder hitting or better boxer than Jacobs in this fight.

Honestly the GGG-Jacobs fight was a lot closer and I feel GGG won that one comfortably.

GGG slowly started to lose respect for Canelos punches as the fight went on, and those early rounds where GGG was super careful and not exposing himself might've cost him the fight (although a judge that scores this 118-110, is just insane and I have no idea what it would take to to make them score a fight right).

Rematch might prove to be even better, Canelo will come out knowing he doesn't have the stamina to box GGG for 12 rounds and needs a KO, while GGG will come out thinking he needs a KO or the judges might fuck him over again.

Canelo's eyes/cheekbones were swollen af

This. And he had a little mouse under his eye. But it's not like they both went head to head with their best blows. It was pretty technical. I expected more body shots from canelo.. but must be hard against ggg.

I can't tell if you're defending that score or not.

Who would've thought that a Ninja Scooter could be so logical? Lol. I agree, fam.

He's not. He is saying Byrd thought Canelo won the fight. How much he won the fight by at that point becomes irrelevant. The end result would have been the same: A draw.

I think the point is Byrd was bought. Many writers actually called her out on twitter this week. And then it happened. If she had it 114-113 cantaloupe or GGG it would have been passable.

Scooter you agree with the bullshit card?

I had it close for GGG. Because it was that close, and because of the nature of close fights and how they can be scored/what judges might look for in awarding a winner, I don't think a draw is outlandish. I don't see how you can arrive at 118-110 Canelo, but some of the rounds were so close for me that I could easily see some of the ones I gave to Gennady going to Canelo. Not everything is a robbery.

Canelo's biggest problem was his stamina rather than GGG. GGG was struggling to connect alot of the time.

I think it is an easy decision for Canelo if he xan work on pacing himself better in the next fight.

imo canelo landed the harder shots but GGG outworked him most of the way. i had GGG with 7 rounds outright to canelo's 3 with 2 "even" rounds that could have gone either way

Answer the question man. It's bullshit.

I just did. I think a draw is fine. That's the nature of fights going to the judges. Two people can look at a close fight/round and come up with different results. It doesn't make either person wrong. It's subjective, and not an exact science. Stop being so dense.
