Looks interesting but I'm the only one feeling like her character model has some uncanny valley vives? I looks super weird to me

Obsessed:

Ellen DeGeneres playing as... Space Karen! WTF House' whadaya doin. Business 101, know your audience.
Space Karen lol, I cannot unsee it now !

Seems ok, the photo realistic model will age like milk Death Stranding style, but the gameplay's seems there.

My biggest gripe with this game they announced is that the main character seems like a weak, semi-politically charged idea. I was joking when I first seen it that you play as Hilary Clinton in a spacesuit. Others comments about the character being 'a Karen' is very much in-line with what was presented.

Aside from that (based on what was shown), the atmosphere is great, the gameplay seems proper, and the game's general concept seems good. It's just the choice of character and the icky narrative thats steering me away.
I heard this called "Karen in Space" and couldn't help but laugh.

Interesting concept. I wasn't a fan of the Defender-style games they put out, and this seems to be a 3-D translation of that gameplay, with more of a story. I'll pass but hope it turns out well for them and everyone who enjoys this sort of game.
I was thinking the exact same thing.

she looks like Ellen degeneres. Of all the people on Earth, that’s probably the last person you should make your main character look like. I seriously doubt this protagonist appeals to the majority of gamers and I have to scratch my head as to what housemarque is thinking here.

The main character + title of the game already tell me this will be a huge flop unless it gets really good reviews.

it will probably be fun as hell but underrated due to their choices mentioned above

Wonder if this could be the demon souls of third person shooters. Think about the premise of the plot, she faces alienish beasts that look inspired by its design, also the story laid out wjere she dies and restarts, very demon souls-ish typr of gameplay with the reset and start over, wonder if we die if we have to get back our xp we gain etc.

very interested to see more of this game.

I have to agree. Maybe this was a ps4 title and they cancelled it to bring over to Ps5 is my only thoughts
This was what their last game looked like

Give them a break, its their first venture into AAA space and it looks great and their gameplay is always fantastic

I think some people are being hard on them for what is obviously their first venture into the triple AAA space. much like how any studio started from the ground up. naughty dog, Santa Monica, guerrilla games and even sucker punch. we all have to start from somewhere, and the game play in their previous titles are stellar.

I love HM, but I don't know about this. I guess this is their take on rogue-likes? Would have preferred a Resogun 2, but I hope this is good.

All I wanted was for her to stop yammering all the way through that trailer.

Maybe the final scene will involve complaining to the manager.

Yeah, I had originally heard that Housemarque was going to develop a online multiplayer game that sounded a little like it could have ended up a GAAS title. At least this is going in the other direction, an SP title.

And I agree we should cut them some slack. The Karen thing is funny, but it's not a big deal. The gameplay will be the thing that matters, and Housemarque is known for that. The story will probably just be an incidental structure to prop up the gameplay.

Production budget is probably AA rather than AAA, so we shouldn't set expectations too high.

Looks awesome and very much my cup of tea. I really hope there's a decent story underpinning the game too.

Also am I the only one that got Ellen Ripley vibes from the main character? I actually thought it was Sigourney Weaver doing the voice at first even.

I'm looking forward to it. It's a horror/thriller action adventure with some Housemarque arcade shooter DNA.

I'm still very confused what this game is. If it hadn't had the logo, I would have never been able to guess this was a Housemarque game.

Yeah I meant to say AA, while this does a much larger budget than their previous titles. I can imagine it's nowhere near the budget of horizon 2 forbidden west or the last of us 2. and yeah I greatly prefer this, over what they were developing previously. too many studios. Nowadays are making these battle royale cash grabs. so I'm actually excited housemarque are doing something single player focused.

This really got me interested during the presentation.
I honestly don't find the title that bad, I know some hate it.

Housemarque is quality but I need to see more about this before any final decisions.

Love Housemarque and Returnal is day one for me. If the rumors of Sony acquiring Housemarque are true, I would love to see them expand the studio into two teams. One major/big one for games like Returnal and one minor/small one for the arcade twin stick shooters. I still want DinoNation damn it!!!

Can't get over how ugly the main character is... it's like they mixed Ripley (Alien) and that big hulking lady from Game of Thrones (can't remember her name, big blonde girl with short hair and a sword). Main character being so ugly legit makes my interest in this game go down severely.

I'm not sure what to think of it yet. I love most of their games, but I can't quite figure out what this one is based on the trailer. I'll probably check it out, but it's too unclear to have it on any kind of hype list.

I know it’s early next gen but is there anything here that couldn’t graphically be done on a PS4 Pro.

it still looks good.

Y u get my hopes up for a returnal review or something, bumping this thread

This game is growing on me, cant wait to see more of it.

I'm convinced it's a sleeper hit that'll end up being one of the most visually impressive games of the launch.. it seems like, dark souls with guns, like hideously difficult kind of thing

Looking forward to more footage of this game, as Housemarque has made good games. As noted, the visuals are a step up from what they've attempted in the past. Hopefully they're able to deliver another fun game, but with the next-gen flourish to the visuals.

I feel like this game could be made much better by just scrapping the current main character for something better and coming up with an interesting plot. The direction seems questionable in its current form. I like aspects, but disagree with a number of decisions elsewise.
