Nah. I think this thread will continue. Sometimes posts get shifted over to VirginGAF depending on the content though.

Not really seeing cases of restriction i.e. site-imposed bans, not requests... that haven't come as a result of their posts descending into disrespectful behaviour.
I don't know to what degree the avenue for self-reflection & a sane appeal email is open for all of them.

I've spent some time in web dev, so I would be interested to know about the change in post counts if they're willing/have time to share. Could be a multitude of reasons - cleaning out orphaned posts where the thread has long since been nuked, after the recent upgrade, being one possible reason.

I think at some point, you need to cut your losses and stop giving people second chances unfortunately because you know they will just come back to call you out and account suicide. And in the end, they may not have seen it, but they still got special treatment because they were allowed to come back and newer people would’ve gotten fully banned.

He posted on Gaming side regularly too, so I gave him a Politics-specific ban and a week to cool off and decide what he wanted to do upon his return. It's true that not many people are choosing to stay on GAF out of the people who have had their Politics access disabled -- personally that sounds like a perk, not a punishment -- but a few have.

I’m saying that I understand where those guys were coming from and how irked they felt in what they saw as a hypocritical stance, in the Trump / Winter Soilder thread ( which obviously isn’t fact).

I understand where they're coming from and why they're irked too. This is why I raised the question - is their irkedness justified, and are their subsequent actions justified? I know fully well WHY they feel slighted. But does that entitle them to not comply with the rules? How many tantrums does EviLore have to put up or let slide in order to adequately convey that he sympathizes and respects those users' opinions? At some point it becomes more about them and their feelings rather than the health of the forum, and you have to draw the line somewhere.

That thread to me, reignited that feeling being targeted and suppressed and sadly it won’t be the end of it. I expect to see more of those threads along those lines in the future and possibly more bans thereafter.

You might have felt targeted and suppressed, but from my point of view, you really aren't. I'm pretty sure you'd agree with me that most of the left wing reee types who sperged out over the years weren't oppressed either and got banned because they did not comply with the rules. I don't see why that doesn't apply to the recent bans as well. Quit trying to find oppression where it doesn't exist or else you're going to work yourself into a mark. Just deal with it.

As for bans/lock down, 99% o things roll off my shoulders so I don't care if people/threads are shut down. I can take it. The only threads I don't want around are disgusting stuff or porn etc.... That's not still going.

Trump being a Russian asset from way back in 2016 is still going. A few months of tension based on the climax of a strange as hell election cycle was too much to bear. We needed a policy change for that.

GAF isn't a staging platform for coup attempts. You'd be hard-pressed to find any significant amount of users who condone such ideas (whether they've already left or not). Same as it's not a staging platform for Antifa/BLM rallies and riots. There was a policy change with regards to conspiracy theory talk, yet right when it hits, an old worn-out laughable joke of a conspiracy is being trotted out as reasonable.

I would posit that 3+ year long exercise in FUD was one of the touchstone fuel sources that led to January 6, very much courtesy of the Democrats and MSM building narrative in concert. Trump isn't blameless but I'll repeat what I said in another thread a while back - between the MSM, DNC, Big Tech and the Trump Admin there was rarely an adult in the room - unfortunately that looks to be a running theme going forward.

It is not bannable to disagree with the media, but to go to politics just to proxy whine about the conspiracy theory ban by flimsily constructing an argument that whatever topic you just entered is "also a conspiracy theory" is just trying to pick a fight. If you truly believe something is an actual unfounded conspiracy theory, you can use the report button (if that gets disabled you might get the message that your valuation of what constituted a conspiracy theory was off a lot).
