Diablo 2 Resurrected Officially Revealed

They also stated they are having a technical alpha and will listen to feedback on issues, this is one area that is truly negative in terms of gameplay I hope they change it.

Watch the video linked above: they flat out state they're keeping the original mechanics, and only doing QOL (stuff that people did anyway with mods) and visual changes. They're literally running the original game, just with a new renderer on top.

We will see how it goes, enough complaints about in in the alpha/beta they might change their mind. I hope they do.

Let me put it this way: immunities only become a problem in Hell difficulty. The people that will complain about established game mechanics that a child could overcome won't ever reach Hell difficulty in the beta. You know what they will complain about though? The lack of infinite respecs to make up for their poor reading comprehension. The lack of infinite stamina. The slow leveling speed. The Shamans resurrecting the Fallen. You know, basic things that anyone with an attention span and half a brain could cope with. I'm sure there will be a flood of complaints by people used to the way Diablo 3 just hands you everything on a silver platter.

Then, I hope the developers will look at those complaints, and go "Fuck off". Just...diplomatically, obviously.

I noticed they added pants for some reason to armor sets...
I mean it's not '' game is ruined '' but I don't understand why mess with that it really draws attention for me ( nostalgia and all ).
I just like the color contrast too with the skin, the pants just makes it look all bland especially since the rest of the armor at lower levels is grey so there's no brighter color contrast with the legs.

Look at the Sorc at 17:00 for example
I am pretty sure that's earlier armor, she isn't supposed to get pants until field plate if you look here https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Armor_Appearance ...
Note too how the rest of the armor becomes brighter at that point and contrasts better with the pants being added.
But without that it looks so bland and again washed out.

I just dunno why the hell they mess with this.

Edit: So actually I was just stupid, I was listening and clicked on the video and happened to see that but didn't see how they switched between the two xD.
It fooled me because the armor in the new graphics doesn't look like later armor in the original game.

I did note this with the Assassin too tho at the start of the game, I dunno if they're actually doing it and are just tactically choosing to show specific gear to hide it or something.
But my criticism has changed from that at least to the armor doesn't actually look very accurate to the original.
The armor looks totally different and like much earlier armor than it did in the original in the example in the video.
Which again, less cartoony and more washed out graphics.

Edit again: Actually I wasn't stupid because later in the video they show how they reused the base model of the Assassin for the Succubus like they did in the original and yeah she has pants.... Which is just weird, just why?
They didn't do that with any of the other characters...

The best Diablo game to this day. Those cutscenes still look good. I can’t wait to see how Andariel looks.

She was showcased in gameplay.

Hell YEAH! Day 1 mofos. I am so excited over this. But sad at the same time, 20 years ... if freaking old. I was 21 years old when d2 came out (along with BG2). It feels like it was a few years ago. Where the hell did the time go? I can't wait to play this on pc ans switch (yes i will buy two copies) D2 was fantastic. The point of being able to switch graphics on the fly is awesome.

After a good sleep, and thinking about this release. I am so looking forward to see how the Necros corpse explosion now works. I hope they dont change the sounds too much, because that skill is epic as it is. But with better graphics and more details on blood and bones, it will be the best ever.

Just watched the 45 minute deep dive, looks good. Will never be a fan of block inventories though. Found it interesting how they discussed the balancing of consoles and keyboards. Like on PC, you can teleport wherever you click, but on console they have to auto-port a distance instead. Or the barbarian jump can be directed on PC but on console it's just going to be a leap forward 'x' amount of distance. Things you don't really think about.

Looking great. I hope it plays well on the Switch, would be awesome to play it there.

Probably stupid question, but I guess the crossprogression still means that I'll need to buy the game twice?

Diablo 1 had a mood that just canbe beaten.
Yeah, I almost shit myself as a kid when I first encountered the Butcher.

You do think about that if you know a bit about the vast differences between pads and m/kb. Not only those aspects. The way you have instant access to so many more keys that can have functions of the game mapped for instant access. While on pads you dont and require either nerfing of that number of skills, or stoping the game while you browse, of nerfing the enemy numbers and damage that they do.

The way you can precisely atack with a mouse by instantly pin pointing at any area on the screem, using projectile atacks. While with pads you cant, and will most likely use autoaim for everything. This will lead in a reduction of enemy numbers, because you simply cant handle that big of a number with a pad since you lack the speed with wich to use skills and lack the precision of the mouse. Together with a reduction of enemy numbers, you'll also see changed behaviour, doing less damage and moving differently, slower.

Pads are just a shit instrument for gaming, even though thats their only job and were born for it

I see everyone forgot warcraft 3
That was developed by Blizzard. This one is developed by Vicarious Visions, the people behind the Crash remake and Tony Hawk 1+2, among others.

They know their shit when it comes to remakes, so I wouldn't be worried.

I agree, but still have 0 faith in Blizzard doing anything right at this point.

Yep, normally I'd be very sceptical, but guys at VV have done INCREDIBLE jobs remaking Crash and THPS.

Nope, they do remember it. But there is nothing here that raises alarm. It genuidly feels like labor of love and frankly in some ways too conservative even for me. For example they will not be fixing stamina. Meaning that you still have to manage it and there will still be a bug where if you run your armor doesn't work.

I don't know any fan of D2 which liked stamina bar and this mechanic.

On paper it seems they did it.
They added options and qol trying to stay faithful to the original and you can still play exactly like the old version if you want.
We'll see what feedback from that alpha are, it seems they are leaning from past mistakes for now.

But I have to say, magic immunity is really annoying.
Unless I have someone with me, its impossible to pass through the desert unless I make a battlemage build.

Lost all it's grittiness. Just looks like Diablo 3.5

After WC3 Reforged, I'm not holding my breath. I'm optimistic as D2 was a game that is ingrained in me from ages ago and I'd love a proper remake.

Fucking kidding me? This game ate away at 6 years of my life. I might as well quit my job, now. Well, the only thing left is how will they handle trading? Will they keep true to the game and allow us to fuel our own economy? Or will they shit on trading like they did with D3?

I'll get this for switch even if it is messed up, I really don't care as long as it's portable. If it turns out looking and playing really well on ps4 pro maybe I'll get it there too.

I feel a bit used here though, my most anticipated games of 2021 are all ones I've played before for 100s of hours.. being mass effect, diablo2, and kingdoms of amalur (specifically for switch).
