Actually, if I was introducing someone to gaming, particularly if they are older (20+), I would have them play Pong then move up through the generations. Seriously. Something like Grand Theft Auto or God of War would utterly intimidate them if they played it right off of the bat. Watch this for reference:

I had such a viscerally negative reaction to this video... not entirely sure what it was. Maybe it was the 100 times he said "the lady I live with", maybe it's just the faux insight. Yeah, good job bro, nobody has ever thought about idiot-proofing games for noobs. Or maybe how it's some great fucking mystery how he learned the secret language of gaming, lmao. Oh I don't know, you played some games? Asked questions and got tips from others? Failing that looked at the instructions? Failing that switched to another fucking game? Had just the slightest bit of initiative and persistence because you were enjoying yourself?

Oh no shit your wife didn't get very far in Dark Souls while you whacked off to her failures in the background! And Christ, the YouTube sidebar suggestions while watching that turd of a video being slowly squeezed out over the course of 20 minutes are a bunch of "What X game looks like to non-gamer derpdaderp" Here's another video idea you fucking hack... hand her a guitar, the tab to Through the Fire and Flames, Eruption or whatever the fuck guitar god song you feel like, tell her good fucking luck then make a video about how guitar just isn't accessible enough, and pontificate on the absurdity of anyone ever having learned to play the god damn instrument.

Only redeeming aspect of that video is that even the dude's wife could see how lame Uncharted climbing sections are.

As for starting at Pong, I doubt that's necessary. Plenty of people skipped the 2D era completely and play the modern video game just fine. Plenty of simple games out there that can be played with very little guidance. But ultimately I don't give a fuck about the lady he lives with's experience with games. She didn't seem to have much interest to begin with, she can enjoy whatever fucking hobbies she's into and I won't whine about how they're not immediately interesting or accessible to me personally.

Bullet sponges are the worst type of boss fight
I don't know man, I'd take a bullet sponge fight over a basic qte-filled, zero gameplay boss fight. GOW being one of the few exceptions.
I like to actually play through fights.

I don't think i've played any pure QTE boss fights so sounds like ive dodged a bullet (by pressing X at the right time).

I just think that generally a bullet sponge boss that follows you around the map is a lazy design. It doesn't take a whole lot more thought to add in specific weaknesses that you have to take advantage of to "stun" the boss allowing you to damage them. This at least adds in a bit of variety. For me there is nothing worse than pumping ammo into a boss and wondering whether i am actually doing any damage. An example... I love Sea of Thieves generally but a lot of the boss fights are really boring. The final Gold Horder battle on the shores of gold comes to mind. You spend about an hour running around a large closed room firing all your bullets at the boss before heading to the opposite corner to find ammo and food continuously with barely any confirmation that he is taking any damage. They could have quite easily had something like chandeliers hanging from the ceiling that you have to drop on him or some kind of activated traps to trigger on him instead. There is very little skill involved as it is, you just shoot at him and then run away to hide.

They are giving some much needed competition to Greedy and Lazy Valve. Unreal 5 also looks like a great engine for cresting games.
spying on people's computers and steam friend list without disclosing it.
taking huge amount of system resources just to run the inferior launcher.
taking games hostage from pc gamers who don't want to use their shitty launchers and forcing them to wait 6 months to a year to get to play them.
forcing kickstarted games to not release on steam despite promises of steam version.
buying easy anti cheat and make it not work on linux anymore.
not having basic store features that other store fronts have had for years.
taking apple to court for not giving them complete access to their own store.
list goes on and on ...

They are funding tons of games that might not get made otherwise. They are a boon to the industry.
