I've played Diablo 2 so much in the last years that i'm currently not very excited about Resurrected. Will try it out but idk if i will stick to it.
I would rather have Path of Exile 2 now but thats been delayed to 2022.
But hey maybe there will be a good mod for D2 Resurrected that makes me change my mind.

played about half an hour. seems good. never played Diablo 2 before. of course it's too early still but i feel like controls could be changed a bit and make stats easier to read. but hey maybe it's just me.

I've decided to just beat Duriel with every class available in the beta instead of focusing on grinding/farming with my hammerdin and poison javazon. seemed sorta pointless since both the amazon and paladin can clear the end of act 2 so easily.

about to roll a druid. I've never put much into druid so this should be interesting.

if anyone needs help with anything on xbox feel free to hit me up. whether it's way points or just help with a quest.

Lost Ark will be out here at some point in the fall. Might scratch that itch for you.

The game looks great! But the combat doesn't feel that good. It seems like the character's swing animation is practically finished when the hit registers, and it feels laggy because of that. Just pathetic! A thing you do 99% in this game feels lame to me👌

Playing open beta at the minute and was this game always that easy or they nerfed it for beta purposes? Or me being 13-15 years old when loved it in the past was that badly skilled in video games? Haha
I laughed after killing Andariel with my Amazon within 10 seconds rofl

i feel this way as well. Played about 40 minutes on PS5. I can tell this would be great fun and a time sink but I only ever played Diablo 3 before and to be honest it seems like more fun….. I did play it a lot though so maybe do not have the nostalgia factor. I may pick this up though as love the aesthetic.

yeah, combat can feel a little bit off especially if you compare it to Diablo 3 where it was more satisfying.
But hey Diablo 4 looks even better in that regard.

Worth to mention that this game plays flawlessly in terms of performance and looks stunning on PS5. Bug free so far, beside one crash (in the middle of act 2 I’m atm).
It’s amazing how atmospheric this game is after all those years.
Really good remake, I’m impressed so far.
Unfortunately it’s mostly nostalgia trip because there is barely any challenge, just realised how far ahead today’s games are in terms of gameplay.

The game has truly aged like fine wine.

Seriously Diablo 3 was hot dung compared to this. I don't have high hopes for D4, as it will probably keep the simplification.

Runs pretty bad on a 1060 even on medium at 1080p, this is rather disappointing.

Just press g while playing then it will be easier to render on your pc.

This is a multiplayer beta. You’re playing multiplayer games alone, not single player, so the world will keep resetting. Once the game is fully released you can play single player and the world won’t reset.

The original framerate of the game is 20 fps and they are overlaying a 60 fps animation over that. it's going to be wonky no matter what you do.

Damn it the racial implications of this didn't occur to me until I was about to start the game. Is this bad?

Good game. Got to the point of finding the Black Tower.

I used an Amazon playing with spears and javelins. 20 years ago and used a bow Amazon. This game is way harder than Diablo 3 on this default skill level. Already got killed 3 times.

Took a bit time to get acquainted with the UI.

Some downsides
- Frame rate on Series X is hitchy. 60 fps most of the time, but slows down for no reason some times
- Maybe I'm blind but the Identify and Town Portal scrolls looks almost the same. The blue and brown streaks across the scroll are hard to tell apart in your inventory
- Getting killed and retrieving your body stash, I think you got to make sure your inventory is clear. All or nothing stash grab

In response to your point 2 and 3:

-You should be using tomes for each. the tomes are easily identifiable. you shouldn't have loose scrolls in your inventory. the tomes are cheap and make a huge difference.
-You only lose what you have equipped, not what's in your inventory. The problem is that some gear adds stat bonuses. Which means you were able to wear what you were wearing due to depending on other gear. When this happens, you can't auto equip everything at once. If that's the case, you need room in your inventory. If you can equip all your gear just fine, your inventory can be full without issue.

I'll be playing on xbox most this weekend if anyone wants help with anything, I can hop onto my amazon or paladin.

Just started act 2 with my druid. Going to finish it then either start over with barbarian or sorc, haven't decided yet.

Ah. Were tombs in the original game? I forgot.

When I got killed I lost everything. My inventory was empty. And all my gold too. The only thing that stayed in my inventory was some reason a single slot charm (passive bonus), which I had to sell for 500 gold, so I could buy a weapon from one of the merchants and go back to my body. I chose a bow and killed the enemies from far off then grabbed my stuff.

Maybe it was a bug.

Akara sells them. Let me know if you need some gold.

If I download the Blizzard client (or whatever they're calling it now) can I play now? Because I don't even want to bother installing the client otherwise.

I literally just did this, so yeah. You have to click a little arrow and select beta above the install button.

Noticed that the ps5 gets damn hot while playing this game. Other night I played diablo 3 and it wasn't anywhere near warm but everytime I boot this game it gets hot as hell

Remember that game progress doesn't carry over to final release. Don't waste your time farming shit unless you just have too much of spare time laying around.

Looks and works great on PC but that was the original platform. The classic Diablo II repositioning of enemies lag is still there, just as I remembered it after all these years.

Alright, it's a good remaster I suppose. I don't really remember the original all that well, but it's solid on PC and looks and runs fantastic. Druid seems like it would be a fun class just testing out various skills. It's fun having a swarm of crows following you around to handle pesky runners and far-off casters when you can't immediately get to them. To be honest it made me want to give Diablo 3 another shot heh.

I was sure this was day 1 for me but after a few hours, However as a series X player Im not so sure. I hate the inventory system to death. There's no way I'm gonna be managing individual potions like that. The graphics are very detailed and really digging the style, BUT I find my eyes are getting strained playing it. I can't help but feel this was designed to be played on a monitor close up. The game play itself felt kind of clunky. I can tell this was not designed around a controller. The drops are a mess and that font :messenger_anguished:

You might try a caster, they are the best class type and I hate playing melee

So I'm going to level the Barb today, last one I have left. So far, I'm thinking first three chars will be

Amazon
Druid
Paladin

I've been constantly running the first few missions in the middle tier (below ladder and above expansion). Should I be playing the Lords of Destruction tier or am I am ok with just the middle.

Regarding ladder play, this is just seasons I take it. Can you jump right into seasons without completing the campaign?

I’m not sure what you’re asking?

As for ladder, pretty sure you don’t have to finish the campaign.

you used to have to finish the campaign to unlock hardcore mode tho.

When I boot it up, there are three options (like squares). The top one is Ladder, the middle one is original or something and the bottom one says expansion with something about Lords of Destruction. I don't know the difference between the middle one and bottom one (except an additonal campaign act). This screen, sorry for size:

I assume if start a ladder then I cna get all the unique seasonal loot, and wait till it gets converted to a regular character?

Never played Diablo 2. But after having played Grim Dawn and Path of Exile I don't enjoy this game.
Can't see the praise for this game, feels boring.

This is a multiplayer beta. You’re playing multiplayer games alone, not single player, so the world will keep resetting. Once the game is fully released you can play single player and the world won’t reset.

Isn't that changed the fundamentals of Diablo 2 a lot?

Game has always reset no matter if you play alone or online.

I'm having trouble reading the image because it's so small and I'm too lazy to turn on my xbox so I'm going based off memory but I believe the middle section is to toggle hardcore/normal.

Basically each option you see is as follows:

Ladder vs Non - Ladder - it used to be that there were certain items only obtainable/craftable through ladder. that's being changed with d2r apparently. everything you can get on the ladder you can get in non-ladder. it looks like the purpose of ladder will just be to race against others and a chance to start fresh with other people who are starting fresh.

Hardcore vs normal - In hardcore, if you die your character is permanently deleted. Pretty straightforward.

Lords of Destruction vs Vanilla game - what you've been playing is actually the expansion, Lords of Destruction. You will have the option to play the vanilla game. The vanilla game is quite a bit different. Power level is generally much lower because they are no such things as runes and rune words and the expansion introduced a lot of new items and recipes. Also assassin and druid were included in the expansion so they won't be in vanilla. There is also no act 5, as that was included in the expansion. Some purists actually prefer the vanilla game so I see why they included it. I was on a kick for a while where I only played vanilla. This was a while ago, most people will ignore the vanilla option as the expansion is much better IMO.
