Is this only on the Oculus store, or will an uncensored version be on Steam?

Unless you're buying stand-alone games, I don't know why you would buy anything from the oculus store. Steam VR works fine with the rift.

The book burning continues. Even if it was uncensored it’s still vr trash. Play the wii version like a real man.

But seriously the dialog in re4 is the most mild shit ever, and in facebook’s case it’s not about the mob it’s about the control of language.

I remember growing up watching a great TV show here in Australia called The Movie Show. It was hosted by 2 prominent film critics called David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz (the ONLY version worth watching was when these 2 hosted the show).
Anyway, there was a film being shown illegally in Australia called Ken Park, and Margaret Pomeranz was there to see the film with many interested film viewers. As it was banned, many there were arrested. All over censorship. This was lefties fighting censorship and allowing people to watch films they wanted, regardless of content.
Flash forward to today and these same lefties (of which I am one) are now out to censor gaming as it is deemed sexist/misogynist?! Where in the fuck have we gone so wrong...?
I for one was so excited at the prospect of playing my fav game of all time in VR. It is the main reason I have held on to my Quest for so long. I am not buying this game in protest. I know these are only minor things but, where does it end? When do we get to take back what we once loved from these fucking people who aren't actually playing games but are trying to shape what we see/play/read/listen to? Enough is enough!

This is stand-alone exclusive, no PC version in sight.

Your Quest wouldn't have been able to play it anyways, as it will only work on Quest 2.

"with the ending losing 30% of the dialogue"

It'S nOt A bIg DeAl u GuYs, GaMeR bRoS mAd.

I'm not happy about it, but I'm still buying it.
And this is the problem and why it keeps happening.

I remember when age ratings were enough.

But now with an increasing number of adults behaving like children they've needed to go that step further in order to "protect" people.

What a joke.

We're at the point now that people unironically can't tell the difference between reality and fiction.

And yeah I know this is by FB’s request but the fact Capcom went along with it
That means nothing - this is most likely 100% paid for by FB, so Capcom has the right to say yes.
And it's also a very FB thing to do - take a re-release of an old game that exists solely to appeal to fringe buyers that have already bought the last 50 re-releases of it, and censor it for 'broader' audiences that will probably not look at the thing twice to begin with.

I mean this would still be silly if it was the first time reprinting a 15+ year old game, but they've been re-releasing it practically every year with no concerns over dialogue, but now it matters?

I wasn't going to get it because I have no interest in VR. But fuck facebook and Capcom for this. Also facebook can get right the fuck away from videogames and someone should make sure the door hits them on the way out.

Everyone has a price and mine is Resident Evil 4 in VR. This is the situation I am in and I'd rather miss out on a few lines of dialogue than miss out on the VR experience. Yes I am reluctantly supporting the title with my wallet against something I disagree with, but I'm not out here asking for games to be censored. This is the only way to play it in VR so it will have to do.

Gamers 'voting with their wallet' won't mean anything overall. Quest users take the shaft as is, 99% will take what they can get.

Was it sexual harassment when Ashley asked Leon to fuck?

This is almost like that episode of The Simpsons about sexual harassment.

I literally came in here fully expecting the gore to be neutered. This is sad.

All a part of your pussy "new normal".

So all the insanely disturbing gore is okay, but flirting is just too much for us adults.

Reminds me of this, if you flipped the subject matter around:

Decades ago I worked in a movie rental store. A woman wanting to watch a movie with her young son asked me about two films. I told her one had extreme violence (decapitation, blood, etc.) and the other had two sex scenes. She chose the the violent one. I had a faint hope that attitudes might change over time, but this just shows they're getting fucking worse. The stuff they're censoring in RE4 is just so petty too.

That’s why I’m doing it out of principle.

Sure, but you're the small minority. Most people looking to buy this probably won't even know censorship happened or even notice it while playing. RE4 VR is more about experiencing that world in VR, not a few line changes anyway. I get it though.

sex is bad. violence is okay.

Save a click: Luis' "ballistics" comment, Ashley's "overtime" comment, the "no sex discrimination here" line, Leon's "glasses" link to Hunnigan, and more have been removed because Facebook doesn't want misogynistic or sexual tones.
Someone should tell Facebook the type of VR videos you can enjoy on the Oculus.

I hope this doesn’t sell. The game has sold enough “proper” copies to justify it being a classic. It doesn’t need to be butchered by agendas and puritan mindsets. I have owned this game so many times over the years. Owning the censored version in 2021 is pathetic if you ask me.

I think the problem lies wherein you KNOW what type of content you are getting into when you browse ‘those’ type of vr videos. It only takes one or two moms to buy something for there kid like RE VR then find out theres sexual suggestions and get triggered enough to complain about not knowing or expecting something to be there….gaining traction from other people with pitchforks out.

My arguement would be that the appropriate label is on the game which is M for mature.
