Halo: Infinite |OT| Campaign. Evolved.

Just beat it on Heroic, although it bizarrely gave me an achievement for beating it on normal, which makes no sense. Hopefully I get my heroic completion.

I can now say for certain; hands down one of the greatest videogames I've ever played, maybe even my #1. Story was fantastic. I loved the way they handled everything. Very, very well done. Escharum was an incredible villain. He had depth and sophistication to him, and boy does his character arc really come full circle in an amazing way. 343 fucking did the damn thing with this game. Best Halo campaign and game ever made for me.

What are some of your favorite guns?

Aside from the BR and Shotgun(has always been my favorite combo in any Halo game) I like the shock rifle, Heatwave, VK47, Skewer.

I do like going around and doing all the points on the map, it feels Far Cry-ish, but I do agree with those who have said the lack of variety in the terrain is a little disappointing. I'd love a snow area or a little diversity there.

Also, something about the physics when running people over with vehicles doesn't seem right. There's no impact to it, it's like you're hitting a balloon almost.

The sniper rifle, it packs a punch through my headset. I also like the sentinel beam and heat seeking rocket launcher. Most weapons feel good, save for the covenant pulse gun and carbine.

I like how electronic weapons will disable vehicles, which is rather clutch on those wraiths.

I can't wait to play this. Just need to get my hands on a XSX and it'll be mine! I have a few questions.

1. Is local split screen co-op coming to the game? I'm going blast through the MCC with my son on co-op, so would be great if we could also do it with this game.

2. Live service game. I read that this game isn't a traditional Halo game and it's a live service, meaning it's unlikely we'll get a standalone sequel any time soon. Is this correct?

At this point, I'm just exploring and finding collectibles. Love this part of open world games.

How far in the game are you?
3-4 main missions and maybe 8 side missions. It's bit odd since halo 5 really hooked me after couple of missions and grappling hook and throwing is really well implemented.

Finished the campaign last night. Gameplay wise this is the best Halo. No doubt. Combat is really fun.

The story was ok. Nothing special. I really dislike this trope of killing a beloved character just to bring it back later and the status quo remains the same.

Graphics were ok. There isn't a large variety of environments. It's either the same open world tile or the alien structure one.
Like SkillUp said, it's "Silent Cartographer The Game".

The final stretch is killbox after killbox. It felt rushed. I was wondering when I was going back to the open world but the game kept throwing rooms full of enemies at me. It's a good thing the combat is fun as hell.

I think it's a very good game. And 343 is in the right path.
But for the sequel I'd like to see more variety. More setpieces. And I think multiple huge mission areas in sequence is better than one far cry style open world.

Finished the campaign yesterday. Absolutely amazing. I still think that I like Halo 4 story a bit more, but hands down this is the most fun to play by far.

I get the impression this story will carry on within Infinite itself, a decent number of campaign DLC and a continuation of improving the multiplayer.

Finished the game, at the halfway point I thought I was playing the best Halo, but ultimately i'm not sure.

I felt the final story mission was underwhelming, with lots of repeated rooms, encounters. Copy paste is absolutely rampant. And this goes for quite a bit of the game tbh. All those structures or spires or whatever, they are completely similar. And yes, I do miss a bit variation in scenery; cities like Mumbasa, or a jungle or something. The ending felt kind of sudden. There aren't that many story missions it seems and they are awfully similar.

But the good, the gameplay is 10/10. Its the best Halo and one of the best FPS period when it comes to controls. The shootouts are insanely good. Grunts will change behavior, enemies will fly towards you after a nade, fly straight up after a disruptor kill, they react differently to every weapon and action you take. The moment to moment gameplay is insane. Just by the end, after the same room again, it gets kind of sour. I'd rather duke it out in the open, I think. The gadgets are awesome, but selecting them mid battle can be a bit of a pain (on regular pad with default setup). The sound is amazing. The sniper and shotgun sound insanely good. I loved clearing the map, as I liked the encounters. Summoning a warthog, opening a gate, entering the warthog again. Or grab a sniper, get on a perch, throw radars and pick them off. Its great.

MP has been my fave in a long ass time so its all good. But for campaign, I might prefer Halo 3 Remaster and ODST still.

You are too defensive about this game. Like, you respond to almost everyone who has a negative opinion about the game. Just chill out man. Halo is a long-running franchise that has many fans who want many different things in a Halo game. I love the open-world Halo setting of Infinite but I can legitimately see why previous Halo fans would not vibe with it.

Yea, you shouldn't be worrying about what I choose to respond to or not respond to. That's my business entirely. I've responded to outright trolls who posted nonsense, some of which I think were even banned, and not because I reported them, but because some of them were that blatant. I also respond to a shit load of positive comments, too, engaging on where I had differences, so why exactly are you so defensive about me taking issue with things I find blatantly not accurate, or things that I disagree with based on my own playtime?

And, no, there's no legitimate reason AT ALL for previous Halo fans "not to vibe with it" because it's that fucking amazing a Halo Campaign. It doesn't get much better. I firmly believe that if you don't like this game you have simply never liked a Halo game, or are out to have something negative to say just for the sake of having something negative to say. I will engage about this game when I want, about whatever the hell I want when I feel like it. If you don't like it put me on ignore. I believe the story and characters were fantastic, the best pure character development work the Halo franchise has ever seen. The writing has simply never been better from my perspective. Escharum is also one of the franchise's best villains, if not the very best. He was badass, he had honor, wisdom, has depth, actually respects the Master Chief as an adversary. He's a very well put together character. The voice acting late in the game sends chills down my spine.

And Jen Taylor, what a fucking legend. She should win every fucking award for her VA work in this game. Some of the very best I've ever come across in a videogame. The entire team at 343 and everybody involved should be proud because they made one of the best videogames ever with Halo Infinite.

i got three more unsc audio logs im trying to find and its killllllin me. ive been around this piece of the ring a million times.

but im so determined to find them without help!

but fuuuuuuuuck these things are hard to find bc this place is so huge lol. im not sick of looking yet though. im almost at the point where ive memorized each section of the map. i keep finding things i didnt know were there. ive found 3 or 4 different locations where you can get underneath the map, which was aimultaneously disappointing (bc no skull) but awesome at the same time. ive gotten good at sneaking around and running away lol. and ive analyzed the audio logs even closer, trying to piece together more of the story, and possibly tip me off to the location of the remaining three.

after those three i have 2 banished logs, 1 spartan log and 6 skulls. gonna do it without looking up, i dont care how long it takes!!! i dont care if i die trying! axios motha fuckaaaaas!!!

Of course they're "similar" in design aesthetic, but they're not exactly the same, which is kinda the whole point of doing stuff like that. They have similar themes and elements, such as doors, color patterns, design aesthetic, or the recognizable downward leading path that sends you further down into a structure. Considering what they're trying to show you, it makes sense for there to be some kind of similarities when the structures were designed by one and the same species, entity, but within every last one of them was multiple unique standout areas or spaces. There has to be visual consistency when we are dealing with a certain aesthetic by a known species. I challenge anyone to find a Halo Campaign that does unique forerunner spaces better than Halo Infinite does it. I don't think there's one.

The most identical/copy and paste stuff seen anywhere was the 2020 mission AA gun interiors and "The Sequence" mission beacons, which fiction wise make sense as being 100% identical because they were literally all the same exact thing or structure, but your stay inside all of them was so brief that it was non-existent as an issue. All the various forerunner interiors and the spires you actually enter have plenty of unique rooms and spaces, so the real complain comes down to you noticed similar designs? Similar color schemes and design aesthetic? I would sure hope so, they were made by the exact same ancient alien species, and they exist on the exact same piece of the Halo ring.

My biggest complaint about the entire game was in specific enemy characters not being spotlighted in a way I felt was appropriate considering their importance. That said, I guess it makes sense in a certain way, and it's 343's way of giving them less significance in the story in order to tell us fear not about specific characters? Perhaps so!

The achievement will pop. When you beat it on a higher difficulty it automatically gives you achievements for all levels of difficulty “under that one” in halo games. I beat all Halos on legendary cause it’s an easy way to rack up lol

Good, cause I legit got nervous. I legit got mad at one point in the final stages. I never get mad playing games, but this one fucking fight was, to me, so fucking unfair that I had to let out some frustration lol. Thankfully I found a way. What I really love about this game in the end is situations that you think are unfair, actually have a well placed solution to that problem in your arsenal already or in the room, and it's just up to you to go try it and you'll see how it changes your circumstances. The very last boss was especially clever.

343 gave a very nice audio cue, letting us know exactly what the enemy was afraid of. In retrospect it should have made sense from a visual standpoint, and I love that they thought that deep into it.

You have no flexibility in the perspective of other people's opinions.

After all these years, the warthog still drives like shit. I hate the say the thing controls and I hate that it feels like a giant inflated balloon instead of a multi ton off-road beast

Driving any vehicles in in Infinite is kind of suck. The warthog is suck but the Scorpion tank is 10 times worse. I was so excited to get it at first but it's such a pain to drive I rarely ever use. I mostly use the Razorback so I can load up a squad of marines.

Finished the campaign yesterday. Absolutely amazing. I still think that I like Halo 4 story a bit more, but hands down this is the most fun to play by far.

Yea, will always personally love the Halo 4 story. There are specific things about this one that just really stand out for me that make me lean more towards Infinite. And enjoying Halo 4's story as much as I did is a big part of why I love this game's story because it cleverly utilizes important bits of the story from that game to further enhance Infinite's story. Especially love how they expanded upon and brought the Halo 5 story full circle, and concluded it on a very satisfying note for me. I feel like I got the added context that I feel Halo 5 left out. Just a wonderful, wonderful conclusion. I've never been more excited for the Halo Universe's future than I am after this game.

does the open world ever get better? it's really basic and empty to me
Empty how? Not enough interesting points of interest or enemies? It picks up significantly once you get past the fourth mission, far larger play space, far more activities and things to just happen upon, like marine squads, bases, FOBs, banished presence in smaller, non outpost locations, more random enemy patrols. So, yea, after playing "The Tower" it picks up quite a bit.

Lots more to discover.

This game is really fun. The combat is great and can get really crazy at times. I really like exploring and finding stuff in odd places. Pretty sure this is my favorite halo game. Halo 1 was great but a lot of the love for that game was seeing everything the first time. This kinda feels like what halo 1 should have been when on the halo ring. The multiple ways to handle encounters

A jungle environment would be nice. I guess there is more to explore in future updates. I also wish you could have the marines follow you longer. Or as you unlock more, perhaps you could have other Spartans help you and have the ability to use the grappling to get to tougher areas.

The ray traced audio is incredible btw. It really adds to the overall feel of the environment and weapons.

Im kinda all over the place as there is a lot to take in. I didnt get this level of fun with halo 5, but this time they hit it out of the park.

There seems to be endless dynamic dialogue for these little shit heads. 16 hours in and I have not heard one repeated grunt conversation.
They are truly fantastic. Still, I don't understand how the Banished HQ still tries to employ grunts in a combat role. It's evident they are not cut for it.

Ya ignoring the fact that there's certain super hero game where you just swing around one same looking city but lets complain about Halo not having 100 different biomes lol
When did people start frequently using the term "biome" in gaming forums? Is there a precedent? I never heard it used before the usual Halo haters disembarked in the threads. Now it's all biomes, biome here, biome there...

What's with the checkpoint system in this game? It's really wonky.

It saves checkpoints for if you die just fine. But if you quit playing and boot the game back up later, it doesn't. I was doing a really long section, and I play very slowly and thoroughly, so the section took me like half an hour. I made sure to wait for multiple "saving checkpoint" notifications on screen. Then I went to bed. Booted the game up the next day and I had to do the entire section all over again.

Wtf, Halo?

I remember first hearing it from games journalist. It's a biological term used in ecology but it's way overused in the gaming space for some reason.

Is there no way to go back to general exploring once you've gone too far in the campaign? I feel I'm almost done with main story but dont want to finish the game until I've explored more.

The fast travel option is disabled.

I'm pretty sure you get dumped back into Zeta Halo after you "complete" the game so you can muck around then.

Yeah the checkpoint system is weird. Sometimes it spawns me way back, other times, if I ran somewhere else it saves mid boss battle.

I also had a checkpoint saving when I was about to be slammed. It resulted in me dying at every reload lol. You can restart the mission though.

Bloody hell this is a long game (made longer by the fact that I am doing all the open world quests whilst in the area).

Vehicular combat is fun when it gets going, and I’ve finally got access to the banshees for some flying action.

One gripe - as great as the grapple is, it makes hijacking vehicles way too easy.

Hah, yes - They're not even a threat anymore, you just tether onto them and you're done. Even if you're in another vehicle it's often easy to get out & take over the other one than it is sitting there trying to destroy it.

I'm a bit narked there didn't appear to be any warning that I was about to go deep into the story tho and the open world stuff would stop. There's metric tons of content past that point (Or at least appears to be, I've not finished it yet), which is good but I wish I'd cleared more of the open world first
