Xenoblade 3
Live A Live Remake
Chrono Cross Remake
Front Mission Remakes

Hell yes
Yep. Those things look awesome. Depending on performance of No Mans Sky I might get that for the first time too.

Like I said earlier it is just old school fun on the Switch. I like the mix of new games and remasters. Technically it isn't always the best system but there is such a sweet spot for good looking remakes of older games.

That was actually pretty good! New Mario Strikers I'm very keen on trying as I've heard a lot of good things about the Wii game. Kirby game looks like so much fun, that's a day 1 for me. Klonoa 1+2 is super fun, plated the hell out of the demo of the second game as a kid and have always wanted to try them. The Mario Kart booster pack kind of makes the expansion pak a tempting offer and also confirms there won't be a new Mario Kart anytime soon.
Same man, UK PS2 demo disc :messenger_tears_of_joy: that and Dark Cloud, how can 2 demos stay with me for 20 years? The music and vibrancy, beautiful. Day one on this bundle.

XC is my favorite game ever and XC2 is absolute magic... I hope Mitsuda is composing again, Guess I need to get another switch.

I assume a lot of these characters shown are ancestors of previous games main characters, I see amalthus, melia, nia, akhos, Van Dam am I missing any others?.

We need a prediction thread for Switch Sports.
I was trying to think of a parallel from the Wii or WiiU. Wii Sports Resort was released a few years into the Wii's life cycle. Just from Wikipedia, as of March 31, 2021, Wii Sports Resort has sold 33.14 million copies worldwide. Although, the Wikipedia entry does mention that Wii Sports Resort was later packed-in with the system.

Just with the online multiplayer, the leap in graphics and basic gameplay innovations like being able to use the leg strap for controls in soccer, I would think that 20 million is almost guaranteed. If the game is well received at launch, I think 30 million+ is a reasonable expectation.

If I remember correctly Wii sports resort had the benefit and drawback of it needing Wii motion plus. If you wanted to get the whole family playing suddenly it was a stupid expensive game for 4 controllers.

I think that would hurt its sales.

For that reason I'd go with 40 million.

I love me some bowling. Star balls to the max.
The golf update in the fall could be a game change. I don't need it to be at the $10,000 radar-based golf simulator level, but it will be nice if your correct swing path matters (which then would make it feasible to have a golf club controller attachment).

I don't have high hopes if I'm being honest. The fact it's coming later to me sorry of feels like it'll be half baked. But I hope I'm wrong.

LOL - good point. I should go into this assuming that it will be arcade-only, and then allow myself to be surprised if it does end up as a decent golf sim.

Well.. It was ok, there was a lot of content and updates, i can't call it bad, just wasn't what i was looking for. hardcore fans should have a fun time with this one, but a new Switch Sport and Mario Strikers is good for casual players, those games have potential to become big.

I really liked the first Xenoblade but after X i don't care much about the sequels, they are so exhausting 80-100 hour games, after 3 i wish Monolith could make something different, but it looks promising for fans.

Kirby is Mario Odyssey 2 lol

Is 'That Pure Potato'
This was the best Direct I can remember - so many things revealed:

The Disney Speedstorm sounds great. I am not a fan of how Mario Kart 8 removed the unique attributes of the racers in multiplayer (it's all about grabbing coins now, which feels bad from a gameplay perspective), while this sounds like each racer has their own strengths and weaknesses. Plus Disney and Pixar, cross platform, seems like good fun.

What is the deal with that Chrono Cross remake? It looks like someone wrote a ROM specifically for the worst PS1 emulator ever, then chose the worst filters possible, then purposefully made it even uglier. I feel insulted that they'd even ask money for whatever that was.

The new Kirby looks better than I was expecting. It looks like I may actually play a Kirby game.

It took them long enough to get a Switch Sports title. I will definitely be picking this up. I really liked Wii Sports and the idea of being able to quickly hop into some bowling or tennis matches online sounds awesome. Plus golf in a free update? Word.

Will be trying the demo of Triangle Strategy, but I have a feeling that even if it isn't that impressive I'll be grabbing it anyway. I have been replaying the various iterations of FF Tactics for far too long.

It's years overdue, but finally Earthbound on Switch Online.

It’s what most Nintendo fans grew up with. Has a bunch of extra missions, a duel mode and motion controls.

I've also read several times that many people actually like this version more than the prettier one 🤷‍♂️

Yea the Wii version has added stuff the ps3 and 360 version didnt get OG ep 1-6 type missions are in the wii version along with straight up lighter saber fights the ps3 and 360 got the enhanced physics and HD graphics both are good versions.

I played it and it was very mediocre. the selling point of the game, the crazy force abilities, were just not really there on Wii/PS2/PSP because they were mainly driven by the Euphoria engine which of course couldn't run on those systems due to them being severely underpowered.

basically this version was just a very forgettable Star Wars game IMO.

What's the over under of genshin getting a release date for switch?
Was just going through the thread. From what I know, Genshin on the Switch might never happen (last time I've heard from my friend, they're not really into it, most of the team is focused on other platforms), but we'll never know for certain.

Anyway, fuck you Nintendo, now I miss my Switch even more..

Nintendo sure is having trouble making actual new games.
How do? So far we have 12 Nintendo published games for 2022, with 10 new games, 2 full remakes and 0 ports or remasters.
Why is there a separate thread for every single game in this weak announcement trailer? This is a new level of dumb.
So it's not ok to talk about new games on gamepass but it's ok to start 8 threads about one nintendo trailer?
You have different threads for different announcements. Why are you surprised by that? This is the way it's always been done for conferences/presentations.

Sometimes, but a thread for every crappy game? I count 13 threads in first 2 pages alone......

Different threads for different announcements. Same thing happens after every E3 conference, Direct or Sony event.

I'll have to watch I guess next time, I recall mostly a few of the bigger games and that's it.

Even the smaller announcements will have at least some people caring about it.

To me personally the Chrono Cross remaster is a very small announcement, but for others it will be very exciting.

Finally saw the direct and I thought it was a pretty solid direct. I'd rate it an 8 even though there are tons of games I will definitely be buying. I think the thing that keeps blowing me away is that the kirby game looks so good to me even though I've never played a kirby game. Xenoblade 3 announcement is great. I liked seeing the live a live, chrono cross, that triangle game, and I might get that strikers game. I'm definitely buying that mario kart dlc. I'm not getting that wii sports game or the fire emblem dynasty game. I think I might even buy that Disney cart game. Strikers looked good and is a maybe. So many games I was interested in that I'm pretty sure I've forgotten a few.

Stacked year now. Buying;

MK8D Booster Course pack
Switch Sports (April 29th)
Mario Super Strikers (June 10th)
Klonoa 1&2 (July 8th)
Splatoon 3 in the summer

First 3 are for playing with my 3 year old - was only planning on buying Zelda and Splatoon this year originally.

Disney's Speedstorm looks very good. Good value for a Free to Play game. Can't wait to play it.

Just found out about Front Mission coming back but also no threads about it on here?! What the... only found people talking about it in here. Now I am hoping it comes to other platforms but we will see.

Let me just say I'm in my denial stage of the lifespan of the hardware we have. But if this direct is any indication, we have a minimum timeframe of when we can expect a new console.

Splatoon looks more of the same but still very nicely detailed. Looked very smooth.

I played [Star Wars Force Unleashed on Wii] and it was very mediocre. the selling point of the game, the crazy force abilities, were just not really there on Wii/PS2/PSP because they were mainly driven by the Euphoria engine which of course couldn't run on those systems due to them being severely underpowered.

Disagree about the gameplay, as I can just never find a way to enjoy the LucasArts Force Unleashed. Gorgeous, but play control is a mess IMO. Jumping is terribly angular, and the combat mechanics feel kind of like how a game sometimes plays when it uses a first-person shooter engine for swordfighting (sort of like how the Battlefront games are squirrelly and lack a sense of hit-feel.) I didn't even like the feel of the physics in combat, it felt great to rip stuff off the wall but then it felt like I was fighting stormtroopers with cardboard boxes. Krome's game has a much better feel, and the Force abilities are there decently enough (though it's less enjoyable to throw characters around into canned animations of cracked windows and stacks of boxes or whatnot.) It's a better beat-em-up, while the HD version is at its best when it's a physics toybox (but if that's the experience you're looking for, I'd personally recommend Psi-Ops way more than SW:TFU.) The Krome game is the only version of Star Wars The Force Unleashed I would ever recommend somebody play these days if they actually wanted to experience the story, since the visuals and physics are not as exciting anymore (even though, sadly, few games have that sense of smash-everything gameplay anymore.)

Two comparisons:

...That said, it is weird that they're bringing back the lesser-known one, and it'd be impossible to remaster the Krome one in a way that rivals the LucasArts one. Personally, this is the better game, and I'm very happy to see this version get remastered as I figured it'd never be seen again even if somebody like Aspyr relicensed TFU, but still, it's not the version even I expected. There's also elements of the story and presentation in the "real" LucasArts version, and generally better cuts of voice acting and performance, (plus the alt-story missions and coda added to Ultimate Sith Edition) that you won't get in the Krome game. (Also, Aspry hasn't detailed out this version, but the PSP and PS2 and Wii versions all had different bonus stuff in this, so will all of that be merged together, or is this only the Wii version repolished?) My ideal situation would be a master-package release of both games and all the content, or at least a release of both with different subtitles or something denoting the difference.

Calling this release "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" does feel like a misrepresentation of what gamers would be expecting.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Front Mission 1 and more than that 2 are big news, dunno why it seems there's no hype. Everyone was introduced to the series with 3 in the West on PS and 2 is the precusor to that, perhaps a bit more primitive or messy visually but according to many even better as a game (sans design issues the remake can fix like the slow loading of the extra long attack sequences showing mechs dodging etc.). There are fan translations but not complete. I'm glad it's not HD-2D. The gameplay shown is fitting for a remake of 1 but I do hope 2 will look more realistic and cinematic as it was going for.

Also what's with not uploading the footage from the Direct itself, instead the individual trailer available officially doesn't even show the game, just CG.

I'm excite for it, it feels we are in SRPG haven this year, the only thing is missing is FF Tactics.

I'm super excited for FM2 as it's the only one I haven't played. I wonder if 1 will include the bonus USN missions from the DS version
