Looks like it won't beat its predecessor. Looking forward to watching some 60 fps footage, afaik Sony only showed 30 fps so far.

Honestly? A bit disappointed. I thought it would crack 90 but I guess I had too high expectations. Still buying it within first week of launch either way.

90+ is usually reserved for genre defining game. This is more of the same which is ok.

Also, 90+ doesnt always translate into goty awards. It takes two and Death Stranding were both under 90 and still won the majority of GOTY awards after going up against 90+ games like REmake 2 and Forza Horizon 5.

1800p checkerboarded to 4k at 60fps?
So why would the fidelity 30fps mode even exist? 1800p-4k is not that much to sacrifice 30fps. There must be other changes
Native 4k however, that is quite a bit more then just 1800p checkerboard to 4k checkerboard.

From what I gather so far, the story seems to be a letdown for some and some of the optional tasks are not fun.

Personally I can live with this, of course it's hard to beat the first game storywise, because the big myseriums has been answered already and I can just skip the optional stuff, which is not fun.

Along with what I expected

85-89

88 is great score specially these days critics are much harder on games generally

My only complaints about first game are mele combat and side quests variety

If they fixed them Im in

Gameplay is most important thing to me in video games

Sifu is my best game this year untill now

2,880,000 = 1800p checkerboard
6,144,000 = 2160p native

So that is a 2.13x pixel per frame difference?

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

No 1800p checkerboard is 1920*1800p where as fidelity is 3840*2160p.

A lot more pixels. Its closer to 1440p than 1080p. 3.4 million pixels vs 2.1 million for 1080p and 3.7 for 1440p. And checkerboarding fills out the remaining 3.2 million pixels to bring it up to 5.6 million you would get from native 1800p.

Ghost of tsushima and days gone both used 1800p cb on ps4 pro. I like it way better than naughty dogs 1440p solution.

Getting great reviews. 93% Critics recommend and 88% top critic number on Opencritic is insanely good.

People had issue with first one as well. Open world games have their own critics so I wasn't expecting anything higher than 90. Looks like it hit what I expected it to hit.

ACG mentioned it great fun. Mentioned bugs which DF guy said was there but another patch smoothened things over. Expecting more patch in a week or so.

6.5??!?! wtf, lmao. Get this dude outta here

Joab Gilroy is the best games critic in the world. He is the current holder of the title 'Best Esports Journalist in Australia'.

Fucking massive doubt........

It can be made simpler, too, thanks to HFW’s robust accessibility options. I played the game on “Explorer” mode, and at medium difficulty, aiming to experience the default options where possible, but a “Guided” style of play is available and I appreciate Guerrilla’s efforts to provide something everyone can enjoy. Even on Explorer mode the game is too generous with its assistance, though, and it robs the player of any satisfaction to be had in solving a mystery.

Take climbing, for example. A great part of Horizon Zero Dawn was its traversal, which saw Aloy clambering and scrabbling her way from one side of her world to the other.

Native 4k is 8.2 million pixels. 3840*2160.

4kcb is 1920*2160p = 4.1 million pixels. The rest of the pixels are filled by an algorithm so the TV get the full 4k frame buffer.

1800p cb should be 1920*1800 = 3.4 million unless they are lowering the horizontal resolution a bit more which i highly doubt.

1080p is 2.1 million pixels. 1440p is 3.7 million.

If the guy thinks it’s a 6.5 that’s his right to have that opinion. Doesn’t mean he’s right or that others can't disagree.

Frankly I wish we would see more of this as the idea that all these big exclusives are all amazing in every way is kinda silly. We need reviewers to be tougher.

But I doubt I’ll agree with his verdict. And that’s just fine in any case. No need to let it upset you.

Oof looks like the story is just as bad as the original. The lore was great but the execution in zero dawn with most stories through holograph dialogue was awful. And Aloy's performance was also terribly bland.

Also games seems to be a bit buggy.

Graphics, gameplay, enemies, and sidequests seem to be top tier.

Huh.

So you mean the story is good, but the execution is bad?

90’s can be tough to achieve when 300 mofo’s are trying to summarize every detail.

I’m not sure how a game better in each facet ends up with the same score as it’s predecessor, though. Weird.

Awesome! Love this guy, been following his DS walkthrough. He should be a voice actor, has a fantastic voice.
His Demon’s Souls reveal reaction is priceless. I used his original Demon’s Souls walkthrough when playing the PS3 version so I knew he would be extatic. I immediately checked his channel when it was revealed just to see his reaction xD

Edit: I just realized he sounds almost exactly like Brian from Family Guy.

That’s fine, but did you read it?

How can a game’s,
“…side quests are great, but pointless” - Huh?

“Robot dinosaurs.” - Where?

Nothing wrong with an opinion, but at least make sense.

True! It may not be 10/10 but hell no it's a 6/10 or 7/10 game. These small/unknown outlets looking for drama :) I will buy it and enjoy it no matter what
I can actually see someone score it 7/10 because there are certainly better games but a 6/10 score? There can’t be any 10/10 games released ever according to that person!

Eurogamer review also criticizes heavily the game, basically says that it has not very much going on for it except for visuals.

If it were scored it would be 6 or 7 at maximum I guess

As a woman with African roots, it was also startling to see Zulu face paint in the game being treated as a cosmetic, something you can get at a settlement for shards, as if it were fun Halloween makeup - completely removed from its cultural significance.

I don't mind if they come to that conclusion based on real stuff - like bugs (which I'm hoping day 1.2 patch will fix) and when they make statements like 'climbing was a great part of Zero Dawns experience', I have to wonder if they even played the game given it was the single biggest request to improve. The more you give the more you have to guide, all you did in zero dawn was look for the yellow fabric on a rock.

Usually if you don't have to use more than one or two weapons, that's the game telling you to crank up the difficulty. I'm not arsed about the metascore but half arsed reviews like this are nothing. These were the harshest criticism to take away 4.5 points?

Looks like the story is not that good again, but the graphics and gameplay are enough to buy it. I'll just imagine is a new shiny monster hunter game.

I’ve been watching some PS4/PS5 comparison videos and holy shit the difference is HUGE. It’s not just a resolution and frame rate bump. The geometry, textures, draw distance, and effects are on a completely different level on PS5. I know people like to shriek about cross gen but this game on PS5 is the most “next gen” looking game I’ve seen yet.

That’s not to say PS4 got the cyberpunk treatment. It looks perfectly playable.

Yeah, ACG review deffo locks in my wait for this. Just finished, seems like a good sequel but it’s sad to hear the issues with combat remain. I hated the close combat stuff and I don’t know why he said it’s 1080p 60 but he did say it looks shimmery in performance mode, also not A locked 30fps in quality mode.
I think it’s not long until true Sony exclusives go back to 30fps. I mean this game looks like an amazing late life PS4 game but it doesn’t scream next gen to me….

…..where are the crazy looking crabs and underwater scenes we saw in the trailers?

basically, as someone who liked Horizon and wasn’t blown away like some reviewers this looks more of the same but bigger. I don’t want bigger, I’ve just slogged through ghost of tsushima and I’m good for Sony huge open world games right now.

also, I’m deffo not buying a game that hard crashes my ps5, not risking anything that could shorten my consoles life span.

hope every one else enjoys it though, seems good And excellent if you really annoyed the first and are after more.

lol this is Forza horizon 5 all over again. Looks pretty much identical. Basically PC low vs high settings.
