Making that much money upfront, not including MTX revenue, is decidedly not stupid.
I don't think Overwatch 2 is going to sell 1/5th of that but revenue is revenue.

It's confusing. From what I understand it's 5v5. There's PvE which is paid and PvP which is free.

It's a new package filled with new work from Blizzard.
It's just as valid as God of War Ragnarok (they both look like DLC to the first games). It's their imperative to charge what they think they can get.

Few days ago they announced 3 upcoming announcements. March 15th Hearthstone Expansion Reveal, April 19th New WoW Expansion Reveal and in May they will reveal the Warcraft mobile game.

The PvP is a free update if you already own the game. PvE is what you will have to pay for

What is your point? Yes, I am well aware of that and its not only 1 expansion per year. A typical Hearthstone cycle is 3 expansions pure year, last one was in December and this one is the 1st expansion of this year, 2nd expansion is usually in August time and then 3rd during the Holiday.

Blizzard whole marketing with Overwatch 2 has been a disaster imo and full of nothing but confusion on something that should be really simple to explain. Their paying model still is not clarified to this day 3 years later..

I think releasing PvP sooner is a genius idea and I don't mean that sarcastically but it's a smart move to not make people wait longer than they need to. OW2 PvE can come when it's ready, I just want to play something fresh!

Ahh interesting. I never tried Linux in my life. Are there any notable differences? I am assuming it's just way less bloated than Windows is and runs smoother and less load on the PC?
I am sure OW2 will support it if the original game did.

Way less bloated, yeah, mainly because you can pick and choose certain components based on how old or how un-bloated your equipment should be.
There's a blue million types of desktops, GNOME being one of the more common ones but on the mid-ground in terms to resource use. There's lighter ones like XFCE and LXQt that usually come with distributions made for older PCs.

Not familiar with any of that stuff tbh, but on the topic of OW2 I am gonna assume PvP part of overwatch comes in soon before end of the year. I wonder if they'll delay the PvE version till 2023 or if it's even gonna make the holiday cut.
