Perhaps it'd be easier for Sony to just give Miyazaki a few million dollars as a signing bonus and set up a new PlayStation studio under him in Japan, then poach most of the talent from FromSoftware to work on a Souls-like game.

FromSoftware doesn't own many IPs anyway, so nothing lost there. Then when their first game is announced, just slap "From the creators of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring" and people will buy it like crazy.

I wonder why Sony (or someone else) doesn't do that? Any thoughts?
You wanna wreck FromSoftware and make 2 experimental studios? huh?

Seeing how April PS+ games have been announced and there's nothing worthwhile (again I must say), it seems this rumor won't be related to that.
Let's wait until Spartacus is announced and see what it brings to the table but great PS+ games is not it

Sure, for the Mom, but there is no reason for the dad to need 6 months off. Sorry, you don't.

This is not threadworthy, they also do this when they know ahead of time of anything substantial coming up, and the news about the ps+ shakeup was enough for that

Why does Sony and their hardcore followers always overhype things?

It’s the tit for tat kind of mentality that gets me. Must have to get one over on fans of other brands at any cost. It’s an avalanche but that’s probably more to do with how popular the brand is worldwide.

So…nothing. Feel like there’s been a lot of nothing from Sony lately.

Do you even play videogames? They've released 2 big first party titles already and it's only march. God of war is expected within the next 4 months. Outside of actual games they've had PSVR2 and the bungie acquisition

Sony purchasing Nintendo, BotW2 is only delayed because of the next gen overhaul.

Sony releasing PS5 Pro, circumvents chip shortages by using actual Pringles inside the machine.

Goodbye, Volcano High x Ratchet and Clank crossover DLC, all that furry lesbian shit that's supes mainstream.

Bloodborne PS1 classic demake.

Final Fantasy VII Remake indefinitely delayed so Square can push out Final Fantasy XV-2: King Richard Edition, a whole new story comprised of the three canceled DLC, an MMO, a live action Paramount+ series, and several handwritten letters.

Naughty Dog announces an HBO series based on the remake of the Last of Us based on the HBO series based on the game. Tiger Woods plays Abby.

The interesting thing is, despite the success of the Souls franchise, From are always left to fund their games through either Bandai or Sony.

Kadokawa has never really supported them.

That's kind of wild. I looked up Kadokawa's finances though, apparently they're worth about $269 billion yen. That's about $2.4 billion in USD. So maybe it's just down to them not wanting to give too much in funding for what was traditionally a niche franchise?

With Elden Ring's success now, though, I imagine Kadokawa might be willing to provide more direct funding themselves, but I don't know if they have a games distribution/publishing label. That could be another reason.

Fun fact, they did used to make and publish their own games WAY back. Like Lodoss-Tou Senki (Record of Lodoss War) on the SFC...which is a pretty fun RPG with a neat battle system, for anyone interested ;)

One reason, Kadokawa and FromSoft would probably not let him walk so easily i.e they'd give him some phat extra pay to stay with them.

Another reason, Miyazaki might not want to leave his Souls team behind, and prefer to work with them.

Third reason (and possibly most important), Sony doing so could poison their relationship with FromSoft and Kadokawa in some form, since they'd be poaching key talent from a company they not only have worked with multiple times, but even have a minority stake investment in. And Sony don't want to risk jeopardizing an otherwise great business relationship over a talent poach.

If Sony does anything with Miyazaki that's exclusive for PlayStation console & ecosystem, it'll have to involve FromSoft, involve Kadokawa, and at the very least be a co-development deal like w/ Bloodborne. Maybe by leveraging that strategic partnership they announced months ago.

Not trying to get away with anything, he said he had multiple things he was waiting on and I would hope anyone should doubt this was the only thing he was waiting on
Yeah that seems very logical. Like others said it would be hilarious if nothing else was announced this week.

I know schreier is saying that everyone's expectations are out of wack since they leaked this months ago but I'm still super unimpressed with Spartacus so far. I want to wrong though! Impress me Sony!

Some of people here are too gullible.... but at the same time - I am also hungry for news. It would be a dream to hear something like "BB remaster out TODAY NOW" or "Sony bought KONAMI" etc.

Instead of Sony producing another handheld, could there be a mayor merger in the works to battle MS?
I'm calling it! Sony and good 'ol Ninty joining forces! :messenger_sunglasses:

So removing supported platforms is caring? MGS has a big story with PS, no doubt about that but there are a lot of ports in other platforms that won't happen if Sony buys the rights to it
I'd hope that caring would be allowing most people to play those games
I listened to Todd Howard and he said going Xbox & PC only means he can reach a larger audience than if his games were multiplatform.

Konami going exclusive to Sony would show that Konami wants to reach a larger audience too.

/s

I want Konami IP revived and preferably multiplatform
