Forspoken - Deep Dive: Magic Parkour Deepdive

I believe it is, I never liked that engine. It's poorly optimized and games always look weird on it. I am so glad FF7 Remake switched to UE4 and FF7 Remake Part 2 is going to be UE5 with KH4 as well, so exciting stuff. KH 3 was on UE4.
I always thought FF XV looked fantastic, I love its look, still looks great today imo, different taste I imagine. The lighting in FF XV is so good.
i think graphic and the chocobo music were the only good things about ff15 :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

But i don't have much expectations graphic wise, i'm here mostly for the gameplay.
Graphics were fantastic and I think the soundtrack in general was amazing too.

I understand the complaints about the combats though. I think that visually they look amazing, I love how you're flying around, warping etc, it's super stylish, but sadly it's only a visual impression, you don't actually do with your own hands what you see on the screen, it's too automated. On top of that the combats are really badly balanced, because once you realize you can have almost an infinite amount of healing items on you, you realize ou can't die anymore and everything suddenly feel extremely bland.

FF XV could have been a lot better with some tweaks. It's still a game I really appreciate, for its origins, VS XIII legacy, and some of what it is now, it has its place in my heart, but I'm really aware of its issues too, it's a love / hate relationship, it's full of missed opportunity.

And talking about missed opportunity, there really was a base in FF XV for a lot of things to be better. Once you start modding around the game on PC, you can do insane stuff.
Just a few days ago a mod was released to be able to do warps outside of combats, here's a little clip I recorded:

It really enhance the feeling of freedom.

I also made a video showcasing a lot of FF XV modding, out of bound areas etc, showing what it can be when everything is suddenly not as limited:

The FF XV of my dreams :messenger_smiling_hearts:

About Forspoken, we'll see... Like you I'm very cautious about combats, it might look cool in video but we really have to be able to play it to see how it feels. I personally think the traversal look super fun and I like the look of the game in general. I'm scared that it will feel very repetitive with ton of icons everywhere etc though, I saw some of that in a gameplay video and I don't like when games go for the ubi aspect instead of you discovering things on your own.

FF15 was a decent looking game on PC in the daylight setting but the night kind of looked bad. It's very difficult to make nighttime look good because everything depends on reflections and lighting. I think the Luminous engine is not very good when it comes to the lighting imo.

Man FF15 had such potential, kind of sad the development hell it went through. FF16 looks stellar though!

Oh weird, I think FF 16 looks a lot worse than XV, like a generation behind. The lighting looks a lot more flat, it just makes me think of an improved FF XIV, maybe because of the art style too, but I really don't think that XVI looks particularly "great" at all.

It won't stop me from playing it or anything, the game might be great, or not, we will see, but as far as I'm concerned it's a big let down on the visuals for me, I think FF XV is clearly above it, but like by a huge margin.

I'm only talking about the technical aspect, art style is another more subjective topic.

Out of the announced and out now and soon to be released square games, this one I am honestly not interested in. and no, it is not because the mc is a black woman.

It is weird to see so many of you finding this cool, in my eyes, seeing this modern looking person with magic sneakers jumping around looks completely ridicules.

This game looks to me like a remedy-Control type of situation.

As games go, It will be good. But most won't like it for one reason or another. And then years later will be considered as an underappreciated game.

The lighting is absolutely atrocious in this game which it's curious considering this element was this team's strength before.

Anyway graphics/art and the battle system are my greatest concerns for now. I still think it'll bomb pretty hard :/

Parkour looks great.

But terrain looks flat.

Little to no platforming to enjoy the moves.

Hopefully they are not showing everything.

Man people really have a hater boner for this game.

Still quite a mystery how this will end up, the traversal definitely looks fun though.

The environments look so generic and dull and empty. I'm yet to see any screenshots or clips of this game that would have something interesting going on instead of generic main character running around a bland grassy hill #42 or bland rocky desert area #69.

Yawn.

Next 2 overview trailers are about combat and the open world activities

The next video in the series, Forspoken – Deep Dive | Magic Combat, releases on November 3, and will dive into the fundamentals of Frey’s magical combat skills. Discover more about the types of magic, attacks and upgrades players can unlock to help Frey battle the wide variety of enemies she’ll encounter throughout her journey. The final video, Forspoken – Deep Dive | Exploring Athia, releases on November 10, and will showcase quests, challenges and various activities that players can find and accomplish across the world of Athia.

This is why I barely come to forums anymore. This types of negative comments really sour my time with gaming. I’ll keep coming here for news but god these comments are terrible.

The ignore user/thread feature is a blessing.

No it isn't.
I don't use gp nor does a few of the posters here who have issues with it.

It's very underwhelming and always has been.
Wait till the MC score comes out.

So it's not just me. These gifs are a LOT more clearer than the YouTube ones. Is YouTube compression that bad? Everything is a lot smoother too.

I'm thinking YT compression may have something to do with it. Also, I'm really interested in what the performance mode is going to look like.

It is ridiculous. But, in a good way. It looks like a crazy, unbelievable superhero type AAA game, that isn't meant to be taken seriously - just fun as hell to play.

That is blended way better than this game.

You think the girls in Japanese school uniforms blend in better with a fantasy world as opposed to Frey who actually changes her clothes to fit in with what everyone else is wearing?

And I’m not even saying those anime handled it bad. Part of the appeal of fish out of water stories is to contrast the lead with the strange world they find themselves in. If in the first Thor movie, Thor landed on Earth and instantly changed his way of speaking and such to match Jane and the others and also instantly knew how things work and people behave on Earth, a lot of the charm of that film would be gone.

I nabbed those from a poster on the other site, but they are hosted on imgur. GAF has a size limit if you try to upload directly here.
How the hell do you post imgur img and gif in high quality in here?

When i try to open them on another page they are low res and the gif are in video format and i can't post with the post video button in the forum UI.

I just copy the gif link then in the thread reply section click insert image (ctrl+p) and paste it there.
Seems to work for me. :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

That's pretty weird. Not exactly sure what's the cause of that. Maybe a browser thing?

Game looks like such a mixed bag. Great tech and traversal seems good paired with lackluster combat, generic environments and God awful cringe writing.

I am too. On YouTube it looked like the performance was laggy, but in that gif it looked 60 fps which makes the game seem much better to look at even if it would have a notable dip in visual quality. I play on gaming laptop so I hope I can get those 60 frames.

Some of ya'll are crazy. Looks like a fun ass game. It could be terrible, but the gameplay does look fun.

One of my only complaints when it comes to the gameplay is lack of physics/destruction. In one of the earlier videos, the protag is fighting in a little village with a couple of houses around. Lots of spells going off near the buildings but nothing affects the building. Even if there wasn't full destruction, pieces breaking off would have added a nice display of power. I wasn't a fan of Control really, but the physics and destruction made the combat a lot more interesting than it was.
