EDGE Magazine reveals their Games of the Year 2022

Hahaha... there are surely a lot of better games that deserve a top 10 spot. I swear they do this on purpose so they create some strange buzz around the magazine.
They have been living on this idiocy for 20 years otherwise they would be already gone like many others.
In the meantime a game like Pokemon that has been bashed by everyone gets a 7...ah but it's Nintendo 👀

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Gotta market yourself somehow with print and gaming editorial dying out

Using GOTY list to validate your hard on for sony games is hilarious. Game is still rated a 94 and still selling an assload of copies

Same thing you dweebs try and do for The Last of Us Part 2 only you can’t because it’s the most awarded game that year also

It's ok man, there's other GoTY lists that vote the way you like :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Love seeing Pentiment so high, it has been top 3-5 on many lists, even if it hasn't been #1 on more than a few. Will definitely have to check out Windjammer 2, Poinpy, Roadwarden, and Hardspace : Shipbreaker from this list since they're all unknowns to me unlike the others.

I might actually have to give pentiment a try. Maybe I'm judging it too harshly by the way it looks but it just ain't the kind of game I want to play on my new £450 console. It looks like a mobile game but I guess the lines are being blurred between console and mobile games.

It's a visual novel, play it without thinking about what you're playing it on, it's a great story based RPG.

Not knocking their choices, good on them. It's the whole art-house snobbish "my taste is better than yours" circle jerk of dislike around certain games or genres that make some of the discussion surronding this particularly obnoxious.
It goes both ways. People think some of these games are "art-house" when in fact they are just games that aren't apart of the AAA hype scene. If you actually like games there is some good shit out there to play.

This guy's favourite movie of the year is genuinely gonna be Avatar 2.

I like AAA, AA, and Indie games, so yes, there's plenty of great games for me to play without shitting on any of those types or thinking one is elevated above another.

Point proven lol
Point definitely proven.

Things that some gamers weirdly care too much about:
- subjective reviews
- marketing in the from of trailers and when they come out and what they show

TintoConCasera

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Best part about those threads is all the people seething when their fav games are skipped.

Still a weird list, I guess they like being alternative.

It's been finished for years. It's glory days are long gone. Now it's just an edgy clickbait site.

People here actually expecting them to put a game they scored 6/10 in a top 10 list ahead of games they reviewed 9/10 - 10/10?

What on earth is that list

Have they seriously put a Netflix game in their top 10 games of the year whilst completely excluding GOW : R :messenger_tears_of_joy:

It's refreshing to not have to see the usual, safe, mainstream garbage in such lists.

But that FMV game... Not sure about that one.

Elden Ring doesnt make a list..."yea its not a game for everyone, its divisive and a hard game."

GOW doesn't make a list "This person is trying to be edgy, how you leave off such an obvious game."

Every game isn't for everyone...GOW is like an MCU movie, its made to appeal to as many people as possible and that's why some people don't enjoy it. The game listed aren't objectively worse but take more risk which some gamers prefer. The more mainstream websites will give GOW its praise but how often does a game like Neon white get a ton of love for what it does?

I wonder how GT7 made it to that list. Other than that, reasonable selection.
It’s the best game of the year. ;) The clever people at Edge almost got it right. Swap immortality with GT7 and it’s a lovely list. Also, it excludes Ragnarok which is the right thing to do.

Bayonetta at least getting a top 10 spot warms my heart. In a perfect world it would be top 3 everywhere but I’ll take what I can take.

Otherwise solid list, Hardspace Shipbreaker is really good.
Added Hardspace to my PSN wishlist. Never heard of it before.

Sci fi power wash simulator. Only you are meticulously dismantling giant ships for scrap in space. Theres a story too. I have it downloaded. Might jump in soon.
I’m waiting for a Neon White PSN sale and it should be my next game to fully focus on. Have heard only good things and it getting this reverence from Edge made me more interested than ever.

As opposed to a lot of people here, I’ve always respected Edge and think they don’t fuck around with their reviews and don’t play the mainstream hype game.

what I find funny is Death Stranding is exactly the type of game outlets like this jerk off, but because it has a huge budget they negged the fuck out of it. If it had “retro style” polygon graphics or sprites they would have given it a 10.

It just shows you how pretentious these places are. They just build their reputation on shitting on anything that can be deemed too mainstream
