Square Enix is handpicking access to Forspoken review codes. Apparently no PC review codes either

1) Not providing Windows Central the code is the best decision SquareEnix could have made lol.

2) Surprising to see SkillUp talking about this and mentioning it's a "huge red flag" when he was all over the limited Cyberpunk 2077 review code and mandated guidelines that included not talking about the console review codes and performance.

Anyway, I'm expecting a score between 75-80. Going by the demo, the game doesn't look as bad visually as some would have you believe, and the gameplay was quite fun and fresh.
its not that the game looks bad , its the fact that the requirements for PC doesn't justify the visuals of the game and how the game looks so bland and boring.

Mehr not a fan of Forspoken anyways. Watching the trailer for the first time I was mildly interested. But the more time passed the less interested I was.
I highly doubt this game will be good.
Probably just mediocore overall.
you know a game flops hard when they use too much cgi trailer instead of actual ingame footages, the latest trailer was immediately a red flag LMAO probably their last attempt to lure in people to buying their trash game

No PC code? Either the PC game is shit, or they are purposely funneling sites to the PS game due to their chummy partnership agreement with Sony. Or maybe both.

You'd think PC games would get priority access codes because it should have the best version of games to promote in reviews assuming the reviewer has a good rig to play it on.

I guess since they are 'picking and choosing' their favorite outlets who kiss their ass.....I assume the MC score will be in the 90's for the first couple days......then come crashing down into the low 70's with the addition of a bunch or 60's and 60's.

Not saying the game is going to be great, it probably won’t be, but these review sites going online to complain about not getting game code for free just reeks of entitlement.
When you have people expecting and waiting for you to review major game releases you need to make a statement on why you won't be reviewing certain games. Even if they would buy the game (imagine having to buy every game you need to review lol) they still couldn't release a review due's embargo date.

I disagree. It has nothing to do with wanting a free game, and everything to do with getting access to the game early so they can have a review ready when the embargo lifts.

That’s not entitlement, that’s how reviews work. And it’s a massive red flag if they’re being very selective about who gets to review the game & keeping reviews under embargo until the day before release.

For all the people absolutely shocked at this: can you name a single modern SONY console exclusive that didn't have the console as the only review code provided?

. . .I mean this game may certainly end up hot-garbage (particularly in terms of performance given those PC requirements), but it's not like this is evidence of that.

Luminous productions = :messenger_poop:

Should have sidelined them after they put out FFXV in such a state. Then all the extra shit they chucked at it to fix it up was also sub-par.

Videogame sites need the review code asap so reviewers can do speedruns at easy mode and the write shitty reviews on how Forspoken help them to cope with diarrhea and so start another gamergate.

There was drama a little back where a YouTuber claiming she was offered 70% less than her worth from SE to cover forspoken.

Maybe they decided fuck it, no one gets codes.

Turns out the person in question would never reveal what she quoted.

But my channel that I rarely put videos on, gets a lot more views than hers and I've only ever been given BBCP:ex (PS4 ver) free and phantom breaker Omnia(Xbox ver) what I really appreciated, I've never been paid. XD.

But I also don't take my channel seriously or really put any effort in.

I'm gonna take the high road with this, the devs tried to make something different. It's incredibly hard to make a game and it's not on account of not trying.

If this flops that is.

But any significant problem normally are highlighted while on console 30fps + 500ms of input lag + auto aim gets 10/10...

This game will just make it easier for Sony to acquire SE once it bombs lol

Wanted it to be good, because it’s been pretty dry for new releases lately…

what is it about this game that is woke? Japanese devs been making games with European characters for decades and no one ever said that was woke

Why would anyone other than Xbox Studios send review codes to Windows Central?

I don't think it's woke. It seems to be an isekai story with a western main character.
And the graphics seem pretty good at times, despite all the complaints about the performance and resolution on the demo.

One of the few things people are actually complaining about is the fact that the main character is constantly babbling which makes her annoying as hell, just like the actress' performance in the Resident Evil Netflix series.

Yeaaaaah I was all gungho about giving it a try but the hard requirements and the 150 GB of space required coupled with the $70 price tag just tells me to wait for a deep sale or just to avoid it entirely. At a glance I have a feeling at launch it's going to be a unoptimized pile of shit. And all that power for just 30 FPS. Big OOF.

I don't care THAT much when Hoggers Legacy is right around the corner with much more acceptable requirements.

All what power? Was the reaction to A Plague Tale Requiem the same? Are we expecting a 1060 or 1660 to carry for another 6 years? Let's stop the fake outrage.

IDK I don’t think I’d go as far as to call it “woke”, but it definitely has that modern gen-Z style writing to it.

Young black female main character who they tried to make super likable and relatable, constantly yapping and making “witty hot take” one liners as she saves some medieval world with her modern values and sensibilities.

To be fair I think it’s just your typical corny isekai writing, and it seems woke because there’s not much difference between a generic isekai MC and some diversity Mary Sue.

Well I mean, if these reviews do not buy the game. The games sales will be zero. so kinda make sense.

Also, no PC review code means the game runs like a potato on PC.

In Sqeenix’s defense, the majority of outlets that have been denied a code so far are ones that blatantly bashed the demo. Why would they give a code to someone who talks shit about their demo? They are obviously going in with bias already. I don’t blame Square on this one, sorry internet world lol
Edit - and to be fair, I don’t think the game will be over a 70, so I’m definitely not defending the game at all.

Imagining that Sony paid for 2 years of exclusivity, which certainly wasn't cheap, as Square is no fool.

I don't understand the question and not sure what Requiem(nor do I care about it) has to do with it. Given what Requiem asks for is much more digestible. And achieves 60 FPS instead of....30?

A better game to compare given what Forspoken offers would be Sonic Frontiers and Sonic Frontiers is asking for far less.

Given the ludicrous storage requirement alongside recommended specs being 24 GB RAM it smells like a poorly optimized port to me.

Cautiously optimistic but I have a feeling this isn't gonna be a good look for this game's launch.

I'm looking forward to how this all pans out.
