You do realize, players can wear anything on the character right? You can have a lot of material on you in the desert as well which is part of the main game. It's a game you know, she doesnt actually feel heat exhaustion my guy.

I don't see any problem, yeah, surely she is stripped off any feminine trait possible but it's a post apocalyptic world, I doubt a character living in that world would likeor care to express their sexuality via casual fashion means.
 
Mankind had its neckrings and plates in lips, but this looks as useless as boobarmor just colorful artsy fashion without purpose.
The clash between robots and tribal stuff really created a weird unplausible art style.
Some Helghan Samus Aran stuff would have been logical, but even less feminine, so whatever. No idea what sort of mods exist on PC- some actually meaningful protective gear?- but nude mods do, so that "problem" for some was "solved".

It has nothing to do with graphics or engine of the game and more to do with different philosophy of how Japanese developers model their characters and how western developers like to model theirs.

For Japanese developers it doesn't matter if character more realistic or even using face scan they will always try to make characters pleasent to look at.

Tess and Aloy look fine to me, like I'm not expecting a gorgeous middle aged woman in a Post-Apocalypse

And besides, Mama/Lockne is based on and played by Margaret Qualley who looks like this:

I take it you are talking about Fashion Hunter.....of which near none of Aloy costumes could make the cut.
Its not that they are ugly, they are just over designed, like the designers could have stopped a month or so earlier and you would have a much more coherent costume.

I don’t understand the design philosophy though. Why is everything screaming for attention? Why not go with something that could be good for stealth?
You'll be glad to know there is a pride faceprint in there (see in some picture in this thread). Not sure if it was in the main game too, but it's nice you can really delve into the 'Aloy is a lesbian' angle if you are that way inclined. Disappointed that we can't change the hair to be short and spiky or shaved though, bit of a missed opportunity they will hopefully correct in the next game.

I don't think there are any armour sets in the game i liked visually. They did a good job making the sets design linked to whatever clan though.

My first thought when seeing that bottom outfit is that I feel like I'm burning up just looking at it.

All of the outfits look pretty terrible. I guess the bottom one kinda seems like a ceremonial outfit.

I would not say nightmare , but they are certainly not beautiful. They should rehire the guy who did the designs in part 1.


I couldn't take them seriously at all in those costumes. They just look silly.

Still going with this myth of making her look different cause of agenda when in reality they just made her identical to her VA probably for easier translation of animations. She’s literally Ashley Burch now and that’s all there is to it.
I also think this is whats actually going on.

in genshin impact aloy at least looks girly, ofc totally different artists/design/agenda, usual wokeist will ofc say its the same look and just different lighting/shadows/camera angle, but we all know the truth =D

IDK if really paid off for HFW sales, but not only Aloy had the lower usage of all chars in the entire Genshin Impact, but in the meta/abyss(people that look into damage) as well. Was a bad choise to put into an anime game by far.

They should had choise a japanese character from Japan Studios instead of a west one.

Lets see if/when we get 3rd game in the series, how sales gonna look, maybe even we will see that expansion/dlc sales soon, but ofc we all know sex sales, so if u make main character less sexy/more ugly on purpose u can expect sales to get boost from that.

There is a reason we all love/loved tomb raider series, back in the 90s and the reboot too, and lara never looked ugly, less sexy/sexualised in reboot for sure- but not to the point of actually not being attractive :)

This is why I don’t understand why people praise this series’ art direction. It is literally the epitome of taking a bunch of styles that clash and stuffing them together. It is obviously just a technical showcase to say “look how complicated our character models” are. Straight up some of the worst character designs I’ve ever seen.
