Seriously? So their take is that gamepass is for shovel ware.
That's not a good way to sell a subscription service.
The future of any game that doesn't rely on periodical extra content on subscription services is shovelware quality.
Nobody is going to spend "god of war" budgets on 30h games that after you play once you never play again and where most people pay 10$ instead of 70$ to play it.

It's UE4,but all the talk leading up until a few weeks ago was that it was being made on UE5
Really? Wow I mean that was literally in their marketing and press impressions, hyping up that it was UE5.

Geez someone definitely has a job on the line after thus blunder

They don’t respect the Xbox fan base. If they did not even half the shit that has occurred would of been allowed to pass.

And yeah “we hear the feedback” fuck off. You shouldn’t need people to constantly tell you to do better, what are you being paid for exactly?

I’m tired of Lord Farquaad and his gang and his groupies. Services, controllers, updates, delays, wait till next E3, Gamepass, Gamepass, Gamepass, Cloud.

Get fucked.

Remind me again why games need to be $70?

Hard to Kill
It might be that they have to produce a review in order to get paid, but the game they have to review is in a pre release state.

If the developers say "ok, we know there are issues with the frame rate and the AI, BUT we are issuing a day one patch, so try to look past that." Then the reviewer is in a tricky position.

If they give a damning review they potentially spoil their relationship with the publisher. If the patch comes along and does fix everything then their audience accuse them of being shills or on the payroll of another publisher. If they delay their review they don't get paid / don't get clicks/ don't get noticed by the publisher / other publishers / lose status.

I can imagine that things got more complicated once games started getting patched, and particularly now that so many games are coming in hotter than ever. I don't know if we're seeing the results of the pandemic and lockdowns still or what.

The whole culture of gaming and the internet is about "now" and "first". To some degree, that's why releasing a broken game and fixing it later won't be enough, you never get a first time a second time.
That's interesting I hadn't thought about it...Maybe just add a paragraph saying how buggy it is/was during test but that it is an unpatched version that may be corrected then remove or keep what is needed once the game releases.Because reviewing a game based on the promise that the issues will be fixed on released is too much a gesture of faith.

Elon seriously needs to look into these shills on twitter and do something about them.

There should be a massive disclaimer surrounding every tweet they send out and their profile should come with a warning.
Like on YouTube and Amazon when you have to declare in big bold letters that the item has been provided for free or that it is paid sponsorship.

This is what gets my back up with Microsoft paying these media shills and fanboys like Sage (and probably Mage) but not having to declare it.

I said a few days ago, should be illegal.

This meme has never been more true.

Looks like Red Fall’s performance on PC isn’t so hot either, as I’m watching GGManlive’s review. Pretty pathetic what AAA publishers are shoving out the door anymore.

Why even bother with a nobody? This guy has 1700 followers, my cat's Twitter account has more followers than that.

Stop giving these random npcs from the fringes the spotlight.

I mean his perma is not even a week old, did you have him on ignore? its a way for his terrible takes to continue long after his removal.

And here we have a game sponsored by NVidia in a terrible state.
Are you going to say it' NVidia's fault or the Devs fault?

Uh?

A 3050 performing >60 fps at epic settings 1440p is a terrible state?

Unreal stutter and inherent quirks, that’s a given. But this performs light years ahead of Jedi survivor from the reports

Stupid AI, clipping, shit game, that’s on devs.

That is the sensible thing to suggest, I agree. BUT the problem then is that when a publisher comes back to you 3 months later and says "Ok, we know it was in a bad way, but the scores we got really don't reflect the current state of the game, and y'know, our teams really worked hard on this. We all wanted to delay the game, but some guy in accounting that I've never even met said it had to go out and we had no choice. A bunch of the developers get a bonus based on the metacritic score and that's still valid if we can get a fresh review. Also, the guys that did the sound, they did an absolutely stellar job. Nobody can argue that, right? A few of them are having to relocate and are trying to get new jobs, but it's pretty tough when the first AAA game you worked on hasn't reviewed too hard. So could you reassess it?"

An then at that point, there are a bunch of good reasons to reassess it, not least because it might now be a great game. But you've got a life to try and balance with your work and you've already done a 60 hour week, and next week the new XXXX by XXXXX is coming and you really need to put out a good quality video/article/preview/review for that because it's the biggest game of the season. And, also why should you work for free? You've got to play a fair amount to check they didn't just fix the beginning of the game and you've got to make a video or fresh copy. That could be a couple of days work right there.

I think basically everyone is caught in the middle.

I can't wait for the post mortem on this. I'd say (no proof of this obviously) the revelation that the PS5 version was shitcanned was a calculated response by the director to Microsoft pushing the game out to die. The game needed more time and was probably revealed eay too early. They massacred my boy, thank fuck Prey and Dishonored exist.

The schadenfreude is real here. I said for like a year on this forum that this shit looked like trash, and what do you know it is.

Arkane are lame developers.

I'm not sure why Dishonored gave them cult status but the art style was always ugly, untalented mobile game level.

Same with Deathloop. The obviously paid off 10/10 scores couldn't stop that title from deservedly bombing. It deserved the same scores that Redfall is getting.

What are you talking about. Sony, Nintendo and Square Enix are still making these huge single player games and spending millions in the process, they also sell really well, despite you saying that they basically don’t.

Plenty of people on the Steam forums complaining about low. performance. And stutters are a metric in performance, in fact it's the most important, as it affects the minimum fps.
Which is really bad, for a game that looks like an early PS4 game.

But that was not the point I was making.
Lately came out a couple of games, sponsored by AMD, that had performance issues. And some NVidia fanboys immediately blamed AMD for that.
But when it's a poorly optimized game sponsored by NVidia, they look the other way. Just look at Redfall, Warhamer: Darktide, Battlefield 2042.

The fact of the matter is that NVidia, AMD and Intel only sponsor games to include them with their GPUs, and implement their tech. Not to optimize games and fix bugs. That work is for the devs.

Afraid of Boobs
I've read the article and it's pretty crushing, really. It implies that Redfall is a flop and Gamepass is a shady proposition.
How is GamePass 'shady'? Sony fans paid $70 for Forspoken and most Xbox fans paid $1-$15 to play this (among others) on Gamepass. Seems like the better deal.
I watched Redfall for 2 hours on Twitch and it looks like fun and didn't see any bugs. Actually ran very smooth and looked good. Plan on playing it tonight. Seems like a lot of Sony fans piling on and reviewers who generally review Sony games, giving the game low scores. Not saying it should get 9's but a 4? Come on.
