You don't get it. If an entity or person continues to break the law then the punishment for breaking the law will continue and it will ratchet up greatly as long as the law is being broken. You act like operating illegally endlessly will not be dealt with. It will. CMA has enforcement powers to deal with this kind of thing.

You should watch the video again, because the guy literally described what you are saying as "bonkers".

I guess "I don't get it". I just don't see a scenario ever where the UK would force MS out or where MS would leave the UK. You guys even suggesting that the UK would issue a fine so large that MS would leave the UK sounds bonkers to me. If MS says hey doing business in the UK is not profitable because the 3 billion breakup fee we'd have to pay is like 20 years of profit(not sure on this number actually) from the UK territory so we might just leave so we can close the deal, I actually think UK politicians would encourage MS to stay and pay fines while they get this sorted out.

Ringfencing is possible and all these "tv financial analysts" that you guys mocked me for listening too seem to think MS can possibly do it(I'm sure they would have factored in the UK's possible response when doing their analysis). Maybe every single one of them doesn't know what they are talking about. I don't know maybe I am wrong but let's leave it at that.

It's best if you wait until July this year.

If Activision and blizzard continue the deal, then yes MS has a chance. Otherwise nope.

You are being dense. Microsoft "ring fencing" this would be against the law and Microsoft would not only be fined up to 5% of it's total profit but would destroy any trust they may have won with any other regulator in the world.
Microsoft will appeal, if that fails they will drop the deal. It is that simple.

It's staggering to witness Xbox endorse and allow their own community get torn apart like this.

The attitude:

I'd like to see anyone argue that it isn't a cult now. This won't end well.
there’s been a cult of personality around Phil Spencer for a solid decade now

Are you from this planet?
MS isn't going anywhere or leaving any country.
If they break the law, they get fines, if they want to keep breaking the law, the fines get higher with every new one, but being a company with a big legal division, they are smarter than that , so if it comes to picking between buying ATK to make Xbox stop crying or staying in the country, then Xbox is screwed. They are not gonna risk their international reputation or lose contracts to the competition over a mere 70bn.

This comment highlights that Microsoft generally release well made-games, well-rated games much more often than they release bad games. It's bizarre that people think they need to form a preliminary defense force to defend Microsoft when there's no objective history of media bias against them or of there being a bias against their games by reviewers. It's also bizarre that some people consistently insist that Microsoft doesn't release good games.

Take a look at that list again. Outside of the driving, flying games, and latest smaller Zenimax games that they just purchased (which have a niche audience) only Ori, Halo, and Gears have been rated high. And most of those games came out many years ago.

Thanks guys for laying this out so easily to understand. Almost NONE of my podcasts that I listen to are doing this. They ALL are saying it'll still go through.

You probably kept on spouting your propaganda nonsense...

I would normally think that this type of response was a joke, but in case your response wasn't a joke, all I told him was that he was misleading his followers due to his limited knowledge of UK laws. Not only did he say that that comment was the sole reason that I deserved a block, but he later found out that he was wrong (like I said), and he deleted his original tweet.

Yeah, it was a joke. I usually just ignore the twitter users.

I preordered Diablo 4 now and don't care about the outcome of the deal anymore. But after all that Florian and Senju mocking (yes, i know those guys are let's just say special to be friendly) it would be next level hilarious to read this thread if they somehow are right in the end. I can't stop laughing when i think about what happens here.

Depends what you are talking about. Like the Sages review conspiracy theory. I don't think that's true at all. Nor is Florians claims on Microsoft dumping the UK to get what they want.

What I'm actually wondering if those individuals will stay with us if they are wrong.

Edit: When it comes to being wrong Florian was proven wrong on multiple occasions. He just censors everything that disagrees or educates him. I believe someone recently did that.

Right about what? Even if MS wins on appeal nobody here has completely ruled that out. Doesn't mean Senju and co are exonerated from being total nutjobs who get a lot of stuff wrong regarding the legal system in the UK.

What people are calling wrong is the claim that Microsoft can best the UK into submission. That won't happen here.

If Microsoft wants thus to go through they have to go through the appeal process. There isn't a guaranteed win for them in this situation.

SOP is to never stop doubling down.

Some of their whatever theories. I don't read their weird stuff, but everytime i look into this thread it's full of Mueller and Senju Twitter stuff.

Well because they are extremely vocal against this and Sage was on Gaf for a really long time before he got permed.

I think because they say crazy shit is why they are mentioned here. Same thing with Jez Corden although he's not spoken of as much here. And that guy from Xbox Era.

Is Sage Senju? I'm losing track.

Our of all things, MS leaving UK wasn't on my bingo card.
If this deal is feasible, leave it. Go for small studios before Sony or other companies snatch them.

People who talk about ringfencing or carving out the UK portion of Activision business, here is the #1 reason that will never ever happen: The financial loss would be insane!

Giphy's pricetag went from $400m to $53m!!!!

Facebook/meta is how to lose money, but still be in the business.
