6/10 and that’s purely because I’m a PSVR2 owner - I can’t wait to play Beat Saber (shadow drop) and Synapse (out in a couple of weeks) - Crossfire VR looked decent as well, but no release date is a bummer. Fuck knows when Resi 4 VR will come out.

Spider-Man 2 gave me Uncharted 4 vibes with the set piece.
Not really arsed about MGS remake.
Phantom Blade 0 genuinely looked awesome, but could be another Stellar Blade and goes into hiding.
Oddly enough, FF16 and SF6 were the best games in the show and they are just around the corner, thank god.

My problem is every single time I get myself excited for something (anything) Bloodborne related. And I'm disappointed every god damn time. My fault I know.

As a third party showcase it was really good and I'm hyped for Alan Wake 2, loved the first one so much.

As a first party showcase, it really didn't blow my mind but that's because I really don't care about Spiderman in general.

VR part I forgot already. So overall average I guess.

That MGS3 reveal was criminal.

Treating a franchise like that to National Geographic CGI fuckery only to end on a CGI mugshot of snake and that's it.

Like WTF. Couldn't they have waited a few more months and show off a short snippet of gameplay for the fans? Its Metal Gear Solid for fuck sake.
Honestly I am slightly shocked how much CGI and "Not actual gameplay" we got

It looks like I will play Spiderman 2 and then my PS5 will likely collect dust. I don't think anything that they showed won't be on PC and would rather play there. I think the GAAS focus is going to be a problem. Can't believe we didn't get anything from Sucker Punch, DS 2, Factions, etc.

Spiderman was good. Alan Wake 2. Blade 0 game. Marathon looked interesting.
Too much filler. Too many games that looked the same.

No big reveal was the biggest disappointment.

I play PC games but have a soft spot for PlayStation and was really hoping that something in this showcase would make me want to get a PS5 this year………

Thread keeps getting deleted because there’s too many threads and reactionary threads are frowned upon conferences. IIRC this should stay at the pinned thread. I think this happened before so I just remembered it.

I voted very good. I mean Dragons dogma 2 and marathon were shockers.

I thought it was a good idea not to just throw up a new game in a franchise that’s been mainlining for the past decade. Sony isn’t Nintendo. A new uncharted or GOW isn’t the same as new Mario or Zelda.

Let those franchises rest a bit and bring something new. I think marathon fills that criteria (even though technically it’s an old ip ) Sony has tried for years to get a mainline fps. This could be it.

I would give it a 7/10, which means I am quite disappointed. I just expected more after 2 years of nothing :pie_eyeroll:

Yes, a lot of the games LOOKED phantastic, seem like next gen finally arrived.
But then a lot of "yet another shooter", yet another multiplayer, yet another "cute little japanese girl fights against something" game. Those games probably have fans, it is just not for me...
And a lot of trailers for something new where you have no idea what the game is about and how it will play.

Anyway, there were a ton of games and a handfull which looked like they could interest me with new information.
And now we know what some of the new Sony studios work on, it is just not that interesting. Before this we did not knew what Playstation gives us beside Spidey2 and Wolverine, that has not changed.

Mediocre and I'm probably being generous. I went in looking for reasons to buy a PS5 other than FFXVI and Spider-Man 2. I expected ALOT more from the showcase. I think I'm just gonna stick with my Series S to play Diablo 4 and wait til mid gen consoles get announced. I really want FF though. Fuck I'm so disappointed. I'm at the bargaining stage where I'm questioning if Ratchet and Clank, Returnal, FFXVI, and Spiderman 1 and 2 are worth the cost of a PS5.

It was okay for me.
I got the Metal Gear remakes and ports I wanted (Except for 4), the entire RE4 Remake campaign in VR, and a couple other games I was interested in.

PS only folks in shambles. The only way forward is having access to al platforms. If this was all I had in my gaming future, I'd try to get into pogs or something.

Bafflingly average.

Surely there’s another one on the horizon to show off all the titles that everyone was expecting…? Right…Right…?

As a general games showcase: Eh, thought it was fine.
As a Playstation showcase: ..There was a Playstation showcase..? Where?

5/10

Jim Ryan mentions that we are three years into the PS5 lifecycle , with a fair number of games you would be forgiven we have traveled three years back.

Spider-Man 2 looks good and I’m sure it will sell plenty although some of the scripted /QTE stuff is getting boring.

For all the technology available a lot of games lack something, a bit soulless, a bit copy and paste. That Splatoon rip off was embarrassing. As the was wealth of not actual gameplay stuff, it’s getting ridiculous.

You could probably be thinking it’s fatigue on my part, I don’t know, when a trailer hits you get that feeling in the pit of your stomach, like a instant wow, you know this is a step up across the board, a lot of these games in a lot of showcases recently have lacked that.

Can't rate it right now but i'll make a little post as to what I felt watching that. The show felt like a reflection of Jim and Hermen. Devoid of any personality. Felt like i was watching mostly the same shit over and over. Games I just don't wanna play outside a few. Kaz, House, Tretton, Layden and Shu(in his PlayStation jail cell) rolling over in there beds right now looking at how just unfun a lot of this shit just looks. Where the fuck was Factions 2? Anyway i'll make another post later with more of trailers I liked and didn't.

That was very poor. If you look at E3 2015 and 2016, arguably two of the best E3 shows in it's history from Sony, they set the bar incredibly high in 2015 and somehow raised it in 2016.

Considering the show in September 2021 was adequate at best, if this is what Sony have to show, it's embarrassing.

Days Gone was 2019. What have Bend been doing?
Sucker Punch hasn't been seen since 2020. What have they been doing?
Media Molecule hasn't been seen since 2020 either. What have they been doing?
Or Bluepoint, or Team Asobi or Housemarque? What have they been doing?
Sony London apart from a VR title haven't really done anything in years, what have they been doing?
FireSprite apparently have several big projects in development for PlayStation even before their acquisition in 2021, what have they been doing?
Naughty Dog have been teasing Factions since 2020. What the fuck is going on with that? If they show it at SGF and not their own conference then that's ridiculous.
Wolverine was announced 1 year and 8 months ago. Why did they bother announcing it if they aren't updating us on how that project is going?

The projects from Haven Studios and Firewalk look incredibly generic and not very creative or good at all. For cinematic announcement trailers, they have not won me over at all. I'm not looking forward to seeing more from those titles at all.

We knew Resident Evil 4 was in development. We knew that Final Fantasy XVI is coming out next month. We had the MGS stuff leaked. Street Fighter 6 we know enough about.

Assassin's Creed and Dragons Dogma 2 were probably the most surprising things for me.

But aside from a lot of indie titles, what the fuck was that? Like this is supposed to be your core showcase where you show the creme de la creme of what you're working on. That was honestly embarrassing. Absolutely embarrassing. You have Street Fighter and not Tekken 8 or MK1. You don't have anything on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Nothing for Silent Hill 2. Nothing on the aforementioned Wolverine. No update on Rise of the Ronin. No update on Lost Soul Aside.

Honestly, what the fuck....

4/10.
There were some nice updates to already announced games, specially Alan Wake 2 and Dragons Dogma 2.
Aside from that it was really underwhelming. Almost no presence from first party studio and what little was there (aside from Spiderman) was boring cinematic stuff. No big surprises or exciting new announcements aside from MGS3, and that was also a boring cinematic trailer

Even spiderman looked meh IMO. It just looks like literally more of the same, I was hoping for some bigger changes as I felt like I already had enough of the formula with Miles Morales.

What time is it?
I'd call it good.

New Things I'm Excited About:

-Dragon's Dogma II
-MGS3 (It will probably suck because Konami but I have to see the trianwreck)
-Sword of Sea
-Talos Principle 2
-Tower of Fantasy
-Phantom Blade

Known Quantities I'm I'm Excited About:

-Alan Wake 2
-Street Fighter VI
-Final Fantasy XVI
-Spider Man

Ports I'm Excited About

-Teardown
-MGS Collection

Things That Surprised Me:

-No Death Stranding 2
-No Teaser for a new title from Playstation Studios
-Silent Hill 2 being a no-show.

Where the Fuck is Everybody's Golf, Jim?

-Jim, where the fuck is Everybody's Golf?

Some interesting 3rd party games. But 1st party showings sucked. I’m sure Spider-Man is good game but I’m so sick of Marvel stuff.
