Sony can just start PornStation and get time exclusively to Adam’s Wife getting BBC’d.Sony x Pornhub
Yes but if you really look at everything that was revealed, there is no white knight here. Both companies would kill anyone to get ahead. Buy companies, sign exclusives, each with their own version of a game sub service. No saints, just greed.
Sony would just as happily run MS out of the business as the other way around. One just happens to have more cash.
As to managing companies, yes, Sony seems to have been more successful, but I don't know what to attribute that to, them or the companies they bought.
Playstation Experience September
Would be my guess
This is where I'm at. Generally, I'm opposed to consolidation/acquisitions, but in a post-Activision world Sony must start protecting their moats to ensure longevity and relevancy. It's not enough to rely on 1-2 big AAA Sony first party titles per year from their current collection of studios, especially when their rival can now likely double that number AND is offering them at a highly subsidized cost on GamePass which is a war Sony cannot compete in.
The best moves would be to acquire smaller companies that play to their strengths while also featuring some Live Service properties. Square/Capcom are obvious targets. CDPR is a riskier target, due to less properties and less cadence of content, but it would fill a WRPG niche. FromSoft is also another candidate but may be difficult to acquire.
I personally wouldn't touch EA/T2. Ubisoft is a possibility but they have a lot of problems and limited IP that are relevant. IMHO, I would aquire Square/Capcom/From for a princely sum of $18+B and consider that an adequate moat for the time being, with considerable IP that goes back decades, and where Sony can instantly add significant value.
It's a good compromise between upfront $70 Day 1 and bleeding money on a multi-game Day 1 subscription model IMO, and it will also help drive even more digital sales plus cut down on the need to do software sales as often, so games can retain their original prices for longer. I think something like that will have to be done sooner or later.
That’s an interesting idea, essentially a payment plan that you get insight to before purchase. Though some people may frown on seeing $18/mo for purchasing 3 games.
Either snitch is a fanboy.
Or P already bought S and a youtube video is uploaded to the server ready to be unleashed on the unsuspecting gaming audience.
I don't think so. Probably just a tease for the PS5 Slim. If it's happening this year we should be getting an announcement soon. I'll finally buy a PS5 if we get a slim
Unless its part of a bigger blowout, or a combined hardware announcement with the Q lite.Don't see why they would reveal it in the middle of a slow month like July. I don't even think a PS5 Slim needs a hype announcement; if it's the Revision D with the removable disc drive, it'll phase out the other PS5 models anyway while taking their place in the pricing structure.
The Snitch is implying that Playstation has bought a publisher with "S"in the name
Maybe Sega?
PlayStation Slim?
Playstation Showcase?
past fake news.past tense?
PlayStation pasta exists: https://www.ocado.com/products/garofalo-playstation-special-edition-pasta-606660011No love for Pasta x Spaghetti
I think it would be a fantastic get, no joke. It'd be cool if it was SloClap.
Can anyone find Square's stock being traded right now? I'm doing quick searches and every other major Japanese game company is showing their stocks being traded. Yet no data is found for Square. I may be looking in the wrong place.
Already found it. Thanks.Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. (SQNXF) Stock Price, News, Quote & History - Yahoo Finance

you can't just keep it "hush hush"
unlikely that "insiders" would even know
nobody knew
Microsoft buying Activision has opened the floodgates. Companies largely have carte Blanche now to get deals through - the precedent has been set.Sony already gets all of these games exclusive? I’m sure this will be accepted pretty easily by regulators but the difference between buying the company and buying third party exclusives is those don’t bring the regulators to your door. They probably can’t buy anything else now since they are first place and this probably opens up Microsoft being able to get Sega with almost 0 push back.
Seems pointless tbh
You guys cheered for consolidation, there is no going back. Everyone is bout to be bought by somebody.
Pretty much my view.I mean, catch me 2 years ago and I would 100% have said that (and have said that) on here.
With the current climate of Microsoft buying everything major? No, I wouldn’t care any longer. Whole industry is going to total crap. Nothing stopping this train now.
If Snitch gets these leaks from YouTube uploads, this is about a game presumably and not an acquisition.
A game beginning with “S” … significant enough to tweet about, that is coming to PS when it wasn’t known to be.
What could that be…?

Colin's missed the mark on a few things recently though.I agree that I don’t think it’s about an acquisition (who knows), but I wouldn’t be surprised to see SOCOM announced soon.
I trust Colin a lot who has said he heard they were potentially making it again. Fits the S, even though the “x” wouldn’t make me think it would just be a game announcement but more of a crossover.
Who knows.

What happened to whatever he was teasing about bloodborne?
He does seem like someone who'd know a few things, but the bloodborne thing was the last thing I remember him leaking, so IDK.I believe Colin has good insight personally, but things change (be it announcement dates, development delays, etc).
He is also pretty clear that sometimes he hears something, but it isn’t a “leak” just passing in info.
I have mentioned before, but during my stint in the industry, you’d be surprised how easy it is to hear info that isn’t meant for public consumption.
People talk somewhat openly among others in the industry. Think about it logically, at a conference I went to once (or a game show, if you want to use that instead) there are many people from many different branches. Many developers or what not, people in PR, testers, just “suits”. You can’t keep a lid on ALL those people, and you all have one common work thread: GAMING. You naturally find yourself conversing about things in the industry because you have it in common.
Colin certainly knows people from his time at IGN, and he isn’t a “clout chaser” like so many of the gaming press. So when he says he hears something, I trust his discourse. Doesn’t mean you will always bat 1000, things change… somewhat rapidly even, in the industry.
Just my .02!
