Series X|S Parity Clause Changed: BG3 coming to Xbox this year, no split screen coop for Series S

I wonder if the game's Metacritic score played a role here. It sits at a "Legendary Game" status and I wonder if this is something they agreed for only this instance. Guess we'll have news about it if more studios are informed of changes in publishing on Xbox.

People about to buy Series S for Starfield have some extra thinking to do now.

Who knows what other features future games could miss. (I think it's a one time thing as you said, as it's a huge game).

Phil coming through yet again.

Wasn't he the one that came up with this?

It shouldn't have been a thing since the systems launched.

Don't get me wrong I think it's great that he didn't stand his ground. This is the best kind of apology he can give to consumers instead of telling them to just accept it.

What a shit deal if you are a Series S owner. You thought you were buying a next gen console, just kidding — you have to buy a Series X if you want feature complete games.

Pay more get more. Pay less get less. That's the way it should be.

Although I'm jealous of those with monster gaming rigs. You guys have the right to that power though.

To be honest, split screen co op in this game kinda sucks

During fights Player 1 gets to control all the party members while Player 2 only controls himself/herself.

When one of the players are in a cutscene, the other has to come close and select "Listen" to merge the screen into one, which is bothersome sometimes

Also sometimes I would start a fight that I wasnt expecting while my girlfriend was looting a room far from me, so I would fight without a player until she gets to me

I think it's much better to just pass the controller and divide your whole party by 2 while fighting

The solution was to not force parity between the two consoles, which only proves that the parity clause in itself is absurd. I don't buy a 2000 series card and then expect to get the same experience as those with a 4000 series card. I get it's nice to say that there will be no major differences between playing the game on S or X, but it's nonsensical as games continue to push the boundaries.

I’ve been enjoying my xss quite a bit and It hasn’t affected the level of my entertainment one bit.

Will be snowball effect from here. I don't envy series s owners lol
Second class price gets second class treatment by design. Ram limitations alone mean compromises on textures.

I don’t think that’s a bad thing - I use it quite a bit with the kids. PC for dad, series s for the kids, PS5 for the twice a year exclusive, and the series X for collecting dust.

I wonder if this is an exception for BG3 since it's a 96 on Metacritic or if more games will be allowed to follow.

Series S not looking too hot right now.

Statement makes little to no sense, if anything it looks better today than yesterday since it's getting one of the better games of the year. Pretty tiny group that cares about split screen in 2023.

The S shouldn't exist.

More like your post should exist since it has no merit. Honestly mods should probably just ban everyone who runs into a series S thread to say this, since it's meaningless at this point. It exists, people like it, they sell games for it, it's going to be sold for years to come. It's time to move on.
