RoboCop: Rogue City |OT| Somebody Call A Goddamn Paramedic!

I’m sure Weller knew what they were doing considering he’s the actual voice of the character

You need to see RoboDoc

Don't worry i saw it. Robocop is one of my favorite movies of all time and that's exactly why i'm saying it.

One thing is dubbing and the other is the mocap. Sure, Peter ain't going to do the mocap but still...

Robocop animations just feel wrong. The legs are wrong, the estacado head movements, the first the chest than head movements, the rigidity on shoulder/arms and hands position. Etc.

But that's a (real) hardcore fan pet peeve of mine.

Ps. You can see the difference even between the body language of the Pete Weller and Robert Burke on the atrocious 3rd movie

Curious how this is on PS5. Review from Push Square said it looks and feels very AA. Said environments weren't impressive.

So I'm wondering if there's a big discrepancy between console and pc
There is now , this game is amazing!!!
The city is so freaking awesome it feels and looks next gen, like we were promised.
It also feels real. I've been to places like this. Go to a slum in some of our US cities and this really makes it feel real.
The gun play is awesome and the rpg elements and dialog, solving crimes breaks up the pace.
Excellent on ps5!

I am surprised at how damn decent this game can look at times. The image quality on console is soft, but very presentable.

Series X - Quality Mode.

see? As opposed to AW2, this game manages to have clean reflections.
How is image quality in motion ? fsr or something ?

I'm kind of getting GoldenEye 007 flashbacks from this- a game which I didn't really expect to wow me which then turns out to be surprisingly awesome, and completely stitches up the atmosphere, the tone, and the feeling of putting you into a pop culture icon's shoes.

I don't want to put it down.

This game is far better than it has any right to be.

Gunplay is good, looks great and even the side content is surprisingly not throwaway trash in the slightest.

Biggest issues are textures taking a little while to load and the black screens after interacting with anything, but in the grand scheme of things those are minor complaints.

So far it might just be the most surprising game of 2023 for me.

Yep i talked too fast , didn’t have any crashes for a few cut scenes and now it’s back . Will install all the windows updates including my bios because I’m out of idea at this point

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

The reflections are a mix of SSR and Planars, you can see the fallbacks, but the coverage is fairly decent, and in motion, it does have some fuzziness. It's UE5 so might be using TAAU or maybe they switched to FSR2 like the Immortals of Aveum devs cause it's lighter on resources, maybe.

Surprised no tech channel has made a video on this yet.

Finished today, such a good game.

Now i need someone to sell me on terminator resistance.

Consider that i'm only a fan of the first 2 movies (dah) and that i prefer the past days portion of these movies, (so our present), i don't really care for the future side with the resistance and all of that, i'm not a fan of smashing non-humanoid mechas, humanoids always offer the better response gunplay wise and you can detach limbs and shit, not sure if i'm clear.

How is the enemy variety in this one? more humanoid types or more lame robo spiders or moving turrets type of enemies.

And how is the ratio stealth\action?

I'm reading some people calling the game a fallout lite...

Thanks.

P.s. i'm reading a lot of people saying that this gmae is specifically for terminator 1-2 fans, but those movies are almost all the time in the past while the game is all in the future, so i'm a bit confused.

I can't even load my current save. Tried 7 or 8 times to a black screen. No clue what to do.

I get the description of a Fallout lite. I played through it a few months ago and really enjoyed my time with it, moreso in the beginning to mid game. Its actually very similar to Robocop in that it is comprised of small hubs for missions and base areas for talking to npcs and trading etc. What I think the devs get is quality gameplay, so it was engaging throughout where I had fun exploring and doing all the sidequests. They seem to know their limitations as well and one can see the corners they cut to stay relatively focused. The games themselves are entirely set with the post apocalypse resistance. Sometimes the storylines felt kind of like fan fiction material but at the same time they were serviceable. Also nicely there are potential love interests. I managed to fully upgrade my character as well doing all the side content which was nice.

Robocop is cut from the same mold, just surprisingly far better looking for a studio with a smaller budget. The enemy variety in Terminator is low, with most being equipment variations of the skeletons and spider bots and turrets. But that's to be expected from the source material. Destruction was also minor and vastly improved with Robocop. I also recall a bit of stealth in the beginning thanks to starting off very weak and sticking to it later on for sniping and such.

I can totally recommend Binary Domain if you want some squad-based cover shooter action from Sega. Some decisions for story beats and plenty of robot parts getting blown off which is really cool.

Just did the opening mission. Looking forward ro jumping back in. There's too many games I want to play and too little time. What a bonkers year
Exactly! I'm bouncing between Alan Wake 2 which I stopped for Robocop and Goody Little Two Shoes, both of which I'm enjoying more lol. Plus countless other games waiting to go across all my systems. Great year into next is going to be a 1-2 punch for me as a favorite.

Robocop is awesome so far, one can really see the growth for the devs. A definite sleeper hit. Also a looker at times.

I’m getting this sooner than I thought for two reasons:

1. You guys! Your reaction and response to the game in here is exactly what I love to read and what I like in a game

2. I’m not completing Alan Wake 2. It’s not my cup of tea. Too much reading and solving. That’s not why I have a dualsense controller in my hand.

I just have to decide now if I should get Assassin‘s Creed Mirage, Resident Evil 4, or Robocop Rogue City next

I already played binary domain like every self-respected player.

It's a great game.

Some games manage to achieve greatness by a mix of polish, quality, presentation and everything that concerns gameplay, Terminator: Resistance is a GREAT game despite looking at times (when it comes to characters interactions/animations) like Oblivion on 360 with only higher res textures and the addition of sub surface scattering, in one single open level many visual elements on par with a GameCube game even, and average/at times bad voice acting.

Because the game structure, exploration, sense of progression, encounters, level of agency, atmosphere, side content, every damn thing concerning the ludo aspects in this game is immaculate and closest thing I can think of to literal perfection.
Writing, boss battles, controls, gunplay, hit boxes, sound, IQ are also honestly great and even visuals can be, and you'll most of the time really feel in the future war seen in Terminator and Terminator 2. As said, the atmosphere is on point.

Seriously, as someone who loves looking at every nook and cranny of every game and to perfect every encounter to waste less amount of resources, this game is mindblowing. Consistently from start to finish and to such an extent at times I found myself thinking this might be my favorite game ever..

Let's put it this way, if this game simply had a better presentation when it comes to characters/interactions, a stash, a handful of very minor different things here and there, and mostly a NG+, to me it would personally be Top 5 games of all time.. if not more. I'll be for sure playing and replaying it all the time.

Just a thing to consider, this all refers to playing the game at Extreme difficulty (which is obligatory really), especially the game progression, exploration and atmosphere portions.
You have to love exploring, and take your time planning your moves.
Some levels are absolutely gigantic and every inch of them is unique and worthy of exploring, to the point single missions took me even 7-8 hours to complete.
If you play on PC you must install the "uncensored sex scenes Mod", simply because otherwise one optional scene is awfully and extraordinarily embarrassing. The other is fine.

This fucking game is so good I keep wanting to finish this 100% run despite having a new RoboCop: Rogue City copy waiting for me, and I'm a bigger fan of Robo than Terminator.

These developers clearly have a LOT of talent and care, so I'm excited to see what more they can do with a larger budget and experience.

Many of the things you listed as "grievances" I have a good feeling they'll be addressing in updates, as they seem just as passionate about overall quality as Larian has been for BG3.

This is already in my top three of 2023.
I absolutely love the film and this is the first time the character has been done tight in any other medium.
Well done to the Devs, they totally understand it.

Holy shit I was not expecting a full on AAA like game here, I was more expecting a 10-15 linear level shooter with Cool RoboCop moments, this is kinda incredible and honestly so far a better sequel than the films were (god I cannot fucking stand 2, such a bad film)

I get that.

I will say this game is a labor of love. The devs totally GET IT. I feel like you have to at least be in your 40s to fully appreciate how great this is.
Yea I'm 36 and grew up watching this and Terminator and the like 80's/90's films were really something else that doesn't get captured too well these days, everything needs to have a message or be connected to other films/IP's now, whereas back then it was a fun time to see a beefed up motherfucker just go postal on bad guys that spoke funny

Think I found the one after trying the 10 others solutions haha . Go in your windows settings and disable hardware acceleration for GPU . The one thing I noted while booting the game and look at its graphic options that made sense versus the fact that frame generation is glitched is that you can’t turn it on after this so I’d say there is a relation in the solution there . It does diminish the performance of your card sure however dlss ultra performance looks pretty much the same as quality on this game so it’s « fine »for now . You have to turn it back on and restart windows for other games tough which is annoying. All this to say doesn’t seem like nvidia is at fault here , there is just something wrong with the game that needs to be patched big time

How is performance on PS5? Game ran like ass on my PC when I played the demo. But I also don't have a super high end machine.

I've probably never been this triggered before..
Yeah it's mean and evil as shit, who cares, masterpiece of a movie.
Top quality RoboCop badassery, best entrance in history of cinema, meta levels through the roof with the whole "RoboCop 2 and PC programming", RoboCain go-motion..

Ok I was pumped to play this just to take a stroll down memory lane, but holy shit this game is actually really goddamn good!

The shooting is nice and meaty, its just fun to blow shit away. I like exploring the little open areas too.

Every time I breach a door with the bash and start mowing scum down im just like “OHHHHHHH BABY”.

I just wish they played the main theme more. Put it on repeat for every gunfight, I dont care. I cant get tired of it.

I highly recommend unlocking the slow mo skill early on. Between the destructible levels and the satisfying shooting I legit thought I was playing a FEAR successor.
