I have been thinking about picking up the current model but wanted to wait for the next version reveal. I hope it is worth the wait.

Can’t be a big I pro enemy but it could be like oled steam deck was. More ram / oled screen / bigger Ssd’s and maybe slight processor / gpu increase.

Hoping for a bigger screen myself and real EGPU support

Woah this is huge. Please 60Wh battery, 16:10 aspect ratio and a real dpad! The Z1E chip still holds up really well but sometimes you gotta push it to 20W.

8" oled, more POWEWERRRRRRRRR, a working sd card port, and joysticks that don't feel cheap would be great!

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
I would buy it if i wasn’t saving for Switch 2. My SD is serving me well atm

Not sure if 8” screen is needed to be fair. Legion is too bulky. Maybe do something similar to the Deck, shrink the bezels go halfway to full on 8” screen.

Bigger battery is a must. Performance won’t improve since AMD doesn’t have anything this year.

Steam deck oled has spoiled me, I could never go back to 7" or non oled, so hopefully.
Be fun to see something that folds into smaller but then unfolds into 10"! Not that the Ally 2 will do that......

I kind of like Ayan Neo 3DS shape with dual screen. It’s pricey as hell, but kind of cool.

Bigger and more efficient battery, OLED screen, USB4 support and larger SSD (preferably up to 2tb storage) is what I would like to see.
Oh yeah, USB 4 or better yet USB 4 AND oculink. But at least two full ports would be nice.

Storage is fine as is, maybe have 1tb option. It’s actually super easy to upgrade storage as Asus can pull a new image through the BIOS. Takes maybe 20 min.

probably whatever ryzen AI crap amd has, i doubt it will have strix point halo...unless Asus does the Asus thing, announce today, launching 9 months later.

Yeah, I've upgraded to 1tb but 2tb cards aren't for sale here where I live. It would be more convenient if Asus offered a model with it pre installed.

Oh, no 2TB? They are all over Amazon in NA/EU/UJ from what I have seen.

That does suck, so yeah, hopefully they will have 2TB option.

I don't think AMD has an appreciably better chipset than the Z1E at this point so I assume this will be screen/battery/form factor upgrades with a minor spec bump (if anything).

This.

HEY GUYS...THIS IS THE ROG ALLY THAT ISN'T A BROKEN PIECE OF SHIT WITH A WIMPY BATTERY! BUY NOW PLEASE!

$299 asus ally clear out coming soon I bet lol.....pretty sure bestbuy still has a boatload if these......
Best Buy has had the regular Z1 model on sale for $399 for what seems like 1 week after release so I can definitely see that model dropping even more.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well. I'm kind of interested if either Valve or Microsoft will be part of this. Maybe a Steam OS option? New Windows handheld UI?

MS would not let a whole new OS UX/version be part of an OEM presser like this. Day 1 if it has official holo (SteamOS) support though.

If it's not OLED I don't care. Also, needs better thumbsticks. That's a non negotiable. Ally thumbsticks were WAY too loose. I loved my ally but I simply could not play shooters on it with those sticks. Ally needs to get their updates consolidated. Opening 2 programs to update every week was wild. Ally is still amazing despite the flaws. Excited for some improvements

Wish windows would get their shit together and make a proper console mode already.

I got mine for a spare motherboard and low speed ddr5 ram that i had in an old build before I switch to mini ITX ( technically worth of 250$ CAD is how much I bought these stuff used long time ago. )

so this is how much I got the Rog + spigen glass protector x2 + dock with hdmi and usb ports for rog + black hard rubber case + travel case for rog

so in theory I almost paid almost nothing for it ( oh and the SD cards work without any problems and no dead pixel or scratches as system was barely used )

but .. this rog ally 2024 kinda making me feel like my system is already outdated lol.

I know its the same processor from what the rumors so far. and I think full HD is more than enough ( I don't even like oled if they switched to that and they will probably will ). but still feels like having inferior version ( or at least i hope its not the case )

overall, amazing system to own.

Americans are getting that Ally for basically free. Insane value from those Best Buy sales. A fully fledged PC handheld for a mere $400 is some deal. And it's bound to go even cheaper soon.

Not fussed about OLED screen unless it does VRR like the ROGs current screen, Bigger battery and much better efficiency from the APU.

Had the original ROG for about 6 months then got an OLED SD and never looked back, device has okay hardware but the software experience using armoury crate and windows is an absolute cluster fuck, the battery and performance modes are absolutely useless.

It needs a lower end chip with much better optimization, this is essentially just a laptop in a handheld form.

Oh yeah and the screen needs to be alot bigger with smaller bezels.

DenchDeckard

Moderated wildly
If this thing has an OLED, bigger battery...more memory for games I am sold day one. I love my ROG ally and use it more than almost any other device outside of my PC.

Do we really need OLED with burn in issues?
Agreed. If it’s the same device but with bigger screen thanks to less bezels then I am ok with keeping my IPS screen. I hate oled with a passion.
Media can fuck off with promoting oled as much as they want . It’s mini IPS for me and IPS in general over any oled

Even in the TV space, I am buying either Sony 9 or Sony 7 with mini IPS tech and skipping 8 because it’s Oled

Hell even Sony think their highest most expensive TV is not an oled
