Yes, this is the king of fast food fries.

Pretty sure I had some a few days back (if they were out). If so... fuck the new BK fries. Terrible. Of course, it could have just been an unusually thick and tasteless batch of the old ones. Even zesty sauce could not save them... not even zesty sauce. :/

Everyone should try the A&W fries... recently had them and was surprised with just how awesome they were.

I didn't look on the post date and thought this was a necro bump to the time they last changed the fries. Then I saw they were last changed in 1998 and holy fuck I feel old.

Anyway, BK fries weren't spectacular, but they were always decent. I liked that about them. Even if they were cold they were tolerable. McDonald's and especially Wendy's fries are fucking awful cold. I rarely go to BK, so this doesn't bug me too much, but I hope they still have that property.

bk fries are good occassionally, but they get disgusting pretty fast. i usually get their onion rings if i order a combo which aren't that great either but still better than their fries.

The Burger King at my school had the thicker fries for a while (about a month) before they closed a week or so ago.

They were definitely better though you (obviously) get less due to them being thicker.

Haven't had BK fries (or BK in general) for 20 years, since I was a kid, so I won't be able to comparatively judge the new ones.

I guess I might try 'em out in a few weeks since I have a franchise only 3 minutes away.

They lost me at "added a coating".

Just make hand cut homemade fries, include the skin. Cook them long enough. That's all we want.

Fries should rot or grow mold if they fall under the seat of your car, and not last forever like McDonald's or Burger King fries with this coating bullshit.

If I'm eating fast food fries, I'll prefer BK's over McDonald's any day of the week. So, I'm not sure about this. If they're better, though, then hey, great.

My experience as a UK-er is that McDonalds fries are a soggy, tasteless mess, while BK fries are crispier and generally much nicer.

Nothing beats proper chips from a fish n chip shop though.

Yes!

I was hoping this would turn into another "who makes the best fries" which turns into "In-N-Out is better than Five Guys' fries" which turns into "In-N-Out has better burgers than Five Guys" which is followed by Canadians trying to show some sort of relevancy.

The last "new recipe" they did also added a coating to make them stay crispier and hotter longer. So now they're adding yet another coating to them?

"Burger King wanted desperately to be 'French Fries King.' For years, the No. 2 hamburger chain beat out McDonald's in taste tests of hamburgers, but the Golden Arches kept a lock on having the number one french fries. So, Burger King spent several years formulating a new french fry, a potato stick coated--unlike its predecessor--with a layer of starch designed to help retain heat and add crunch. Armed with a $70 million marketing war chest, the company rolled out its biggest product launch ever in 1998.

So, what happened? Burger King's new french fries turned out to be a whopper of a flop! 'Sales of fries are significantly down,' stated a 1999 internal memo. 'Double digit percent of consumers avoid Burger King because of our french fries.'"

I was so disappointed when the fries were changed so long ago. Sounds like the new recipe is more of the same.

Am I the only one who likes Wendy's new fries?

McDonald's aren't even good unless you get them RIGHT out of the fryer and salted. And even then they aren't that good.

I actually was in a hurry one night and was jamming McD's fries in my mouth and an overcooked pointy one lodged on my tongue and the force of it punctured the roof of my mouth. I was bleeding profusely. That shit took like a month to heal.

As a UK-er, my experience with them is:

McDonalds = pretty good fries, not soggy but not crispy either.

Burger King = Shit tastes like the skin of a lizard. Fucking terrible.

Of course, as UK-ers, we both know chip shops are where it's at. :p

Yep. This makes me full of confidence.

I'm hoping they get to the UK soon (2012 is so vague...). I actually like a lot of chips with a coating on it so I'm hoping they turn out good.

I don't know what they did to their chicken tenders but the last few orders I've gotten have tasted horrible. Keep in mind this is like 2 years after not having them.

I'm sorry for your injury but the mental image made me laugh.

McDonalds fries are decent but I like fries that taste more like potato with the skin on them. We have a chain called Johnie's Charcoal Broiler in Oklahoma City that make awesome potato-y fries and they also make excellent onion rings.

Five Guys fries are tasteless pieces of shit. At their Chicago locations at least.

My favorite fries are at Muskie's. Something about them make me want to devour a whole tub of em.

Know what tastes good? When you cut up potatoes and fry them in oil.

What tastes terrible? When you extrude a potato mash through a die and put a special coating on it so it gets crispy

Didn't they already try this years ago with the Mr. Potatohead promotion?

I wish they just sold seasoned curly fries like Arbys. Those fries are amazing!
