Media Create Sales: Week 10, 2012 (Mar 05 - Mar 11)

Going around showing a bunch of 10% or whatever complete games would be the more desperate move imo, especially if they are unique to the Vita and not ports.

They don't have to show 10% complete games, but making some kind of announcement would make a lot more sense at this point than giving the impression that they're not coming at all.

MGS3D and Peacewalker HD very close. Any numbers for the first week Portable Ops / AC!D games?

[PS3] Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition - 38,378 / 62,980
[PS3] Metal Gear Solid HD Edition - 58,864 / 72,398
[3DS] Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D # <ADV> (Konami) {2012.03.08} (¥5.980) - 38.374 / NEW

From Garaph:

[PSP] Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops - 194,423 / 358,277
[PSP] Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus - 88,940 / 355,916
[PSP] Metal Gaer Ac!d - 24,149 / 118,553
[PSP] Metal Gear Ac!d 2 - 22,234 / 50,943

Did Konami even hint at such plans? Just asking. If they do bring PW over, hopefully it'll be more polished than MGS3 3D. The framerate wasn't so good in the demo, and I think it is reflective of the final product IIRC.
Yes. Kojima said if Snake Eater 3D did well then they planned to port the rest of the series chronologically. That's actually why they started with MGS3, because it's first in the timeline.

And look how well that turned out for them.

Also, there is a PC build of PSO2 that is much further along which ppl can look at and set their expecations with for the Vita.

The problem with Vita Heaven wasn't announcing PSO2 early, it was that they had NOTHING else to announce. Your argument here literally works against itself.

Was SFxT expected to sell as well as mainline titles? I sort of classified it as a spinoff.
Is there any point in combining two franchises if sales don't increase?

You mean the point which is less than a month after the wordwide launch of the system?

Wait for some major game expos, that's where the announcements will come.

Do we have some pre-orders charts for Kid Icarus Uprising, or retailers expectations ? I'm feeling the hype has reached a new level with the big push from Nintendo. I'm now expecting a +150K for the launch and big legs to sold + 500k ltd.

Wasn't Kid Icarus shipment limited? I know they're pushing it like crazy but other titles have shown that you can't sell beyond the number of units available. Hell, couldn't even get the JP version from Play-Asia as they ran out of allotted units for preorder.

It's the perfect time for release though, what with the new schoolyear starting and kids using portable games as icebreakers for new groups of friends. Does the game have a download play option?

i really hope it does very well. i root for 800k to a million if all is said and done. i know have high maybe unrealistic expectations.

what is the 3DS highest debut?

Vita's 4 months old in Japan however, where are the major announcements? 3DS had them well before this point, why doesn't Vita?

That sounds fucking awful tbh.
Well, it's probably the best 3DS can hope for out of MGS. After Peace Walker bombed hard outside Japan I doubt we'll see another mainline on a handheld.

I wouldn't mind 3DS getting other stuff like a spinoff (AC!D3D) or 3D Classics remakes of the MSX games though. Actually I'd prefer that to 5/1/2 3D.

3DS had more major announcements before launch than the Vita has had in its entire history.

Hell 3DS has more major cancellations then the Vita has had big name announcements in the past 4 months!

I seem to recall the 3DS getting alot of crap for a pretty abysmal line-up for a good while. It wasent until the price drop, and nintendo announcing games late last year that things turned around for the 3ds.

Do people seriously not remember the problems the 3DS had at launch?

It makes you wonder how many games are cancelled before they're even announced. Though I think Sony is more trigger happy to announce games early than Nintendo.

I dunno but i can guess with a certain game expo being less than 3 months away.

But seriously, just announcing is pointless. Did the 3DS sell on those announcements alone? No, it was after the games released (and it failed and needed a major price drop).

3DS had Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance, and other stuff announced before launch.
When 3DS was doing horribly, its lineup has horrible, but it had those things waiting in the future, plus the inevitable stuff like Pokemon and 2D Super Mario.

That's what people are talking about, Vita has none of that.
Monster Hunter isn't even a sure thing now.

One Piece and Naruto Shippuden still in there, which is nice. I think this is great for anime games. Slightly disgruntled that its One Piece that did more than Naruto...but both will be great.

You don't seem to be responding to what anyone's actually posting.

Yes, 3DS had a crappy lineup when it launched. It also had a much commercially stronger long-term lineup announced well before the launch.

^^Or what Busaiku said (though I actually don't think 3D Land was announced until just after the Japanese launch).

Looks like Vita has stablized at 10K for the time being. As for the software I'm not surprised at all to see One Piece Mosou still at the top. Next week though I expect it to drop 4 or 5 spots. Also decent numbers for Project Mirai. I still haven't picked it up but plan on getting it eventually.

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.

Yeah I'm still sticking by what I said in Week 7:

I really believe KI is going to surprise people. Nintendo is showing heavy support, it has an intriguing upgrade/weapon system that should provide a lot of replay value, and a very promising online component. Also they have AR battles with new cards released through chocolate candy, and it comes with a cool stand for free.... which is always nice. :)

I predict > 400k LTD in Japan. The main concern I have (which seems to be a popular one) is that KH is really going to eat into KI's sells.

How do you people see the 3DS 3rd party sales? I have to say that I am a little bit suprised, they're better than expected.

Quite well overall, it has had far more hits than misses.

Great to decent performers:

Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle
Samurai Warriors: Chronicles
Ridge Racer 3D
One Piece: Unlimited Cruise SP
Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
Senran Kagura: Shoujotachi no Shinei
Tales of the Abyss
Monster Hunter 3G
Inazuma Eleven Go: Shine / Dark
SD Gundam G Generation 3D
Resident Evil: Revelations
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy
Harvest Moon: The Land of Origin
New Love Plus

Some flops:

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II
Dead or Alive: Dimensions
Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights
Dragon Quest: Slime Morimori 3
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy
Beyond the Labyrinth
Tekken 3D: Prime Edition

lol, Vita survived another week with its miniscule increase.
The PS2 still rules the DS and the 360.
And I wonder whether now the 2 year timeframe begins where the 3DS is dominating the SW charts, similar to the DS before it.

Well Vita's failed and needs a major pricedrop / major announcements too. Sadly there's no indication either are in it's immediate future however.

3DS was also never doing as badly as Vita is either, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss early announcements either.

is the Vita actually doing reasonable considering it only has a couple games charting sporadically? I guess there aren't many comparisons other than PS3's early life?
