Media Create Sales: Week 35, 2013 (Aug 26 - Sep 01)

This is just from my memory so don't quote me on this but I believe we had a figure a long while ago from Nintendo that it has sold 400k digitally. If we add that to the famitsu numbers which includes download cards then it would have passed 4M.

This is mixing up numbers from different sources though which I'm not very fond of.

Here are all of the Japanese figures we have:

Nintendo shipment figures: 4.15 million as of June 30th (Shipped to retailers + Download Card sales + eShop sales)

Dengeki: 3,340,577 as of September 1st (Sell-through retail only)
Media Create: 3,395,088 as of September 1st (Sell-through retail only)
Famitsu: 3,789,641 as of September 1st (Sell-through retail + Download Card sales) (80-100% sellthrough)

Given Animal Crossing: New Leaf's high eShop sales rate (due to production delay), and the fact that Nintendo bragged about it passing the 4 million mark on June 12th, it's safe to say that in total, the game has surpassed more than 4 million Japanese sell-through.

A game that has been out as long as Animal Crossing also doesn't have hundreds of thousands of unsold copies sitting on shelves. Retailers would just order what they need to satisfy the 7-15k sales a week the game continues to get. If they were at 4.15M shipped 9-10 weeks ago, they have definitely sold 4M copies to customers by this point.

So, I suppose we know part of SE's 2014 3DS offering

- Dragon Quest Monsters 2
- Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call

I'm including DQM2 since it's without a date and it has been announced earlier than Bravely Default: For the Sequel, which (instead) comes out in just a few months.

I'm guessing Bravely Default 2 will come in 2014 in Japan too, since apparently For The Sequel is being developed in tandem with the actually sequel.

Yeah, if Nintendo officially stated it in a financial report it must be true.

Either way 4 million is very impressive and I am not sure whether MH4 will be able to surpass that - that would make of it a huge success in the history of the series.

That figure didn't come from a financial report.

They stated the "4 million" milestone here:

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/130612/02.html

This event was on June 12th, and Nintendo was discussing Animal Crossing Japanese sales within the context of a sell-through environment (how many are in the hands of consumers).

Bravely Default: For the Sequel
Bravely Default II
Dragon Quest Monsters 2
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Fall

isn't such a bad lineup from Square-Enix. I expect Dragon Quest XI in 2015.

No serious software releases until end of September

Also a lot of special editions were annouced for preorder so some sales will be postponed for later.

I'd expect sales to stay <10k
Good point about the limited editions, i forgot about those.

Might be a nice way to gauge how much people care about the OLED.

I know its popular around here but I don't think its a big deal to the general public.
Yeah, it shall be interesting to see :)

Someone in another thread said Sony's apparently stopped shipping Vita's to retailers in Japan. So I wouldn't exactly expect good sales, lol.

I was really expecting the next DQ for 2014. It could complete the MonHun, Pokemon, DQ Trifecta. 2015 is so far away

If true, i wonder why. Only thing that would make sense to me is if they dont have enough stock of the old model.

I'm only guessing! I don't know how much DQX PC and expansion development would influence DQXI but the new leadership might want DQXI sooner than 2015.

I'm assuming the new model is cheaper to make, so that's why they're switching. Less money going to waste if the handheld Vita sales don't pick up. Though I'm not sure why they'd want to do away with the separate memory cards in that case.

I wonder what the chances of a Dragon Quest VIII port are now.

Where would it go? Wouldn't Dragon Quest VIII for 3DS be a downgrade?

New model is there so that Sony wouldn't be losing money on the price-cut. The worldwide price-cut is only coming into effect now so that would explain it. Japan got price cut early beacause it needed one and had some decent software to sustain it till now.

Exactly. It'd be really impressive if they even preserved the game on 3DS.

Wii U has to be where it goes, unless they wait for the 3DS' successor (would they wait that long?). Nintendo should really push for DQ8 on Wii U as it could REALLY help push sales.

If DQVIII were to be released on Wii U we'd have confirmation that Square Enix is actively trying to sabotage their IPs.

DQVIIIr isn't happening on WiiU with the kind of sales it is pushing.

Dragon Quest VIII for Wii U sounds very good for Nintendo, but I don't think Square Enix is interested. I'm honestly thinking that mobile would be a better place. Sony platforms could handle it, yes, but Dragon Quest is basically a casual game - better to build it up on platforms with even larger userbase.

Seriously. DQX was already kind of dubious but this... nah.

PS3 is probably the only viable platform for DQVIIIr right now.

And DQVIIr just happened this February. I don't think they're in a rush to remake VIII when they can get XI out.

Well you need software to push hardware...

And DQ8 would be in a much better position than DQX as it's an exclusive remake, not a port of a game that came out a few months to a year prior.
I'm just going by precedence. All the previous remakes happened on already healthy platforms which the WiiU certainly isn't at the moment.

I'm not sure if it'll go mobile just yet. The DS remakes haven't even been brought over to test the waters there yet, though I believe the first three Super Famicom remakes went mobile.

OKAY, get ready for this, Sinobi just tweeted what appears to be..

Tetris Puyo Puyo?! I think?

For Wii U, 3DS, PS3, and Vita, par for the course of platform selection for the series (Nintendo and Sony handhelds + consoles):

This is... odd. o_O Would've expected Puyo Puyo 8 if anything.

Anyone want to give a proper translation?

Mostly said in the other thread, but simultaneous release on all four systems, with single player mode, and a multi-player mode using competing gameplay from both series.

sonic and mario did pretty well in the past though

the first one did 600k, 2nd and 3rd one did 200kish
Wii Party sold 10 million ww and 2,3 million in japan alone. if that is not a big hit what really is?

Mario Party 8 and 9 both sold less than Wii Party
oh, my bad. I thought you were talking about both mario and sonic new games. Almost forgot this one. It might do well. I think it will at least make more than 100k. Right now, the only casualvtitle im betting on is wii party.

And thank god a new puyo puyo is coming. My girlfriend loves tetris and i love puyo puyo. This might be the perfect game.

Weird, I would have expected a Vita version.

And what do you mean by it now lists the current rankings for retail downloads?
The rankings are the actual rankings based on sales from the week of 2-9 September and not the all-over-the-placeness of the charts.

Final Fantasy Agito announced for iOS/Android: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=674921

I'll eat crow on Theatrhythm, but I maintain my position on the trend!

That said I'm assuming this is some kind of social game.

Edit: Produced by Type-0's director. Prequel to Type-0.

Edit 2: Scan is out. 3D game it seems. Can't tell too much else as it's a camera from like 2005.

Lost swords? Every character lost their weapons and you can play as-is or buy them back with real monies?

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle is not the only recent release with heavy discounts at Amazon. Lost Planet 3 currently costs almost as much as its strategy guide.
