I can build the one I mentioned with 1400 usd with a sick case.

Oh easy and with change left over. Though the whole bespoke pc market is a different kettle of fish mind.

Be nice to see what the other vendors take on the Steam Controller is like. I wonder if it will be like for like or if they can deviate a little? Maybe minimum spec but can add a few things or maybe change up the ergonomics. Still release date and prices going forward would be nice.

I don't really understand the point of these very-expensive 'unique' form factor steam machines. Oh well, I'm looking forward to trying out the controller whenever those are available.

That's a sexy ass little box, although I'm concerned about the cooling in that thing.
Probably uses a mobile CPU/GPU, so cooling shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Most PC cases are ugly as fuck IMO. I hate my current case and always want to go smaller. Which is why that tiny 8"x8" alienware box is so appealing to me.

bish gets all the credit :)
Oh DDOSes. Isn't there some way to fight them? A bunch of sites have been down all week due to DDOSes.

Same here. I already have a PC I've put plenty into and I don't know enough about SteamOS yet to be interested. That controller really interests me though

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
You guys act like you were never a teenager who used telnet to connect to NASA's servers and write "dix" half a dozen times just for the thrill of it.

So the idea behind having a dozen companies do their own thing is choice and competition?

Yes.

It would be hard to maintain a standard that all Steam games could adhere to, this would counter-productive in an area like PC-Gaming.

I've never had this many problems getting the Steamguard email. Just not coming right now.

They probably don't have the manufacturing capability to satisfy the demand or the amount of possible configurations.

I hope we get some more information on the Steam Controller. After seeing the specs and form factors for the Steam Machines I can say that I am quite content with what I have currently (Christmas was very merry gaming time around here, got a new power supply, 4gb ram, and a MSI Twin Frozr gtx760 for the PC as well as a Zelda edition 3DS XL).

But come on man! I want to get my hands on that controller!

Well, putting something like a 4960x in there isn't going to be cheap. That's $1k+ on your CPU alone.

Sure, and another grand on the Titan. Nearly $4000 for everything else still seems excessive.

It's kinda odd they're offering Titans in these things when a 780Ti trumps it and costs less.
