It's from Creepshow part II: The Raft, I believe.

And scariest, I'd at least put a nomination up for Predator

Big shoutouts to the Xenomorph, The Thing, and Chucky, but nothing scared me like a Predator could. Cloaking, the tech, the intelligence, and the brutality. Even though he's got ethics like only hunting armed/big game, still creeps me the hell out. Just thinking about what he'd do to his victims afterwards too.

I always wondered why your username seemed familiar; now I know.

theres no point in being afraid of them, either your gonna die, or just dont arm yourself or fight, they wont give 2 shits about you.

The werewolf in American Werewolf in London scared the crap out of me....as did this part;

The thought of the creature from The Thing is pretty horrible, taking you over from the inside out and copying you exactly. But the part that scared me the most was;
TheThing-StomachMouth.gif

I knew something was going to happen, but wasn't ready for that.

Freddy Krueger is also pretty terrifying...before he became a pop culture icon of course. Being a child murderer and molester is bad enough, but his being a burned up demon that haunts your dreams? Ugh!

The face of Amy when she turns in the original Fright Night also scared the hell out of me;

Nothing in the remake even came close to approaching scary.

Really? I laughed pretty hard when I saw the Xenomorph the first time. It was so obviously fake when they show it standing upright even as a kid I noticed it. They showed too much of it too early in the movie.

Now Cujo?

Cujo was terrifying.

Oooooh, that's a good one. Totally slipped my mind, yeah, fuck that dog. excellent movie.

Wow so passive aggressive.
This is a thread about scary movie monsters. Posting a pic without a name of the film is kinda pointless.

Is that REC .gif from some alternate ending? I saw REC and that didn't happen.

I always assumed that its eyes were inside of the head dome. To me, the facehuggers will always be the creepiest part of that movie because that's the 2nd creepiest method of reproduction in the Alien series behind the Predalien's method of pumping Xenomorph embryo's directly down your throat with the inner mouth.

Right, I should have said, the lack of visible eyes. One of the early designs included eyes, but Ridley and Giger decided it was scarier if there were none. Boy were they right.

That Sadako face from Ringu creeps the shit out of me. Only thing about Ringu that the remake didn't improve upon.

Always like to see these threads, a big fan of monsters in movies more than anything else in movies.

But please add a title for the movie or the monster in the post. I hate when its just a picture and I have to guess or ask what the fuck its from.

This thing freaked me the fuck out when I was a kid:

Abominable-Snowman.jpg

Haha is that the thing from that Rudolph the Reindeer film, I can't remember it's name it was that long ago but I can remember watching it as a kid and that thing scared the crap out of me and I couldn't watch the rest of the film. Seems so stupid now but I was truely terrified of that abominable snowman or whatever it was that it was going to kill and eat Rudolph. It was so bad that when I watched one of the Star Wars films as a kid too that scene where Luke gets captured and hung from the ceiling by the snow yeti thing I almost had to turn it off but I got over my fear and I'm ok now lol

Signs Aliens.

If it can be killed by a cup of normal water, it isn't scary. Holy water on the other hand...

Evil Dead
movies_the_evil_dead_1.jpg

Just beats out the reveal of Deadite Cheryl, mostly because of the song.
"We're gonna get you, we're gonna get you. Not another pee-eep, time to go to slee-eep" in a high pitched voice...eww.

The American film is terribad, absolutely terribad.

The American Grudge film however was actually a good watch compared with the original.

I'll be as polite about this as I can, but you're insane. The American Ring remake is one of the better American horror movies that has existed in a long-ass time. It's extraordinarily better than the Japanese one and the Grudge is far and away the worse of the two movies.

I've only seen the "coming out of the TV" moment in the Japanese version, but I found it far more effective because the camera and CG weren't like WHOAAAA LOOK AT THIS CAMERAWORK AND CGI MOTHER FUCKER

I found it a lot more creepy and effective in the Japanese version. That being said, that's the only scene I watched of the original one.

I also preferred Ringu, it had a better atmosphere and was creepier for being less glossy and high budget IMO. The appearance of the girl in the American remake is too much like a costume, whereas the original looked more real and a lot creepier.
That's not to say I hated the remake, not at all, it was good and I'd gladly watch it again, but the original is more successful as a scary movie.

That is pretty clever.

Yea the TZ Movie gremlin is really good.

There is one that i cant really mention because it will spoil the surprise.

Most of the horror icons (Jaws, Jason, Michael Meyers, etc) lose their luster because they have attained familiarity. For something that hasnt been mentioned i would probably go with the creatures from The Bay.

From the 1986 movie "HOUSE", movie is actually not even close to being scary now. But as a kid this thing gave me many a nightmare, as did her kids but I can't find a picture of them on the internet. Her voice made her even worse, this one pic doesn't do her justice.

I watched REC a few days ago and it's definitely not REC.

I think it's from REC 2, but it's been a while since I've seen it. Though I just had a quick read through the plot details on Wikipedia and it is indeed a clip from REC 2.

SPOILERS FOR ENDING OF REC 2;
They go back to the penthouse. When they turn on the camera's night vision, a door appears that leads them to a room. They find a tub filled with water that cannot be seen when the lights are on. While Fernandez investigates it, Tristana leaps out of the water and drags him in. They turn the lights on only to witness that he and Tristana had disappeared. They turn the lights off again and try to remain silent not to alarm Tristana. After Owen's radio starts producing noises, Tristana attacks them and after some struggling, Ángela blows her head off with a shotgun. Owen is enraged because he needed the blood sample, but all Ángela wants to do is leave the building. At this point, the only survivors left are Ángela, Owen, and Rosso (Pablo Rosso), a GEO officer. When Owen refuses to authorize their exit, Ángela starts to beat him to force him to do so. Rosso tells her to stop, but she shoots and kills him. Then it is revealed that Tristana has possessed Ángela, so she can leave the darkness she was trapped in, and consequently the building. After telling Owen that she does not need him to get out as she can impersonate his voice, she kills him. She takes his radio and, using Owen's voice, says that the mission is over and that they can let them out. She also tells them that he is staying behind because he is infected and the only survivor is a woman, Ángela. When asked how the woman survived, the demonic Ángela looks at the camera and smiles.

The ending of the first film is shown, but extended to reveal how the demon possessed Ángela, who went into hiding as Owen and the GEO team broke into the penthouse earlier in the film.

Yes. I know it was done for other reasons, but I genuinely found the women suddenly being played by men once demonic the creepiest thing. It took me a second to realize that the actors had suddenly swapped. I'm not too scared by horror movies in general, but ironically i think I found Evil Dead I more unsettling than most people did.

Pet Cemetary used to fuck me up as a kid. Especially the part with the sick aunt Zelda. Sorry no pics at the moment.

Edit: Actually the title is Pet Sematary.

This movie is so funny. I'm not spoiling it for everyone, but do YOU remember how the protagonist defeats this monster? Thinking about it cracks me up!

OK, that is freaky. I've never seen this movie

I Always said this is the scariest zombie ever made. You should watch the movie. It's both scary and funny, with the perfect amount of each.
