I would watch the Holiday Special over sitting through the prequels or sequels again. Han Solo is in it. Boba Fett rides a dinosaur. Bea Arthur runs the Cantina.... How can it be bad !?!
I think Empire better shot, acted and directed than the first film, it has way better effects, but the first film did all the heavy lifting in terms of setting up the characters, situation and universe. Its more fun. Not interested in the Force too much, it was better as a vague mystic thing. Jedi were supposed to be cool samurai until the prequels turned them into morons. Plus we got to see Yoda fight, which looked as ridiculous as imagined.
I really don't get the love for Rogue One, other than the tone of it. It's different to see a serious Star Wars film, but the actual story and characters we're kind of dumb, and we already knew the outcome.

1. RotS - yes, poorly acted in places and a clumsy switch for Anakin but man, this movie is just non-stop drama
2. Rogue One - final hour is Star Wars heaven. Just wish the characters were a little bit more likeable

10. Rise of Skywalker - only good scene is Kylo with Anakin's saber

Sadly after so much dog shit in recent years and being force to really actually examine the IP for more than just "Lightsabers and darth vader is cool" to understand why i ever liked it, i've come to find the entire franchise is a bit rubbish overall.
however if you force me to rank it will be empire first, new hope second, return third and the rest is just a pile of smelly mushy horse diarrhea splatted on a hot pavement.

Best sequel ever made (among popular franchises; obviously, I'm not including Godfather Part II here). Beautifully shot, good story, nails characterization and atmosphere, great performances from the leads, and avoids the sentimentalism that's plagued the franchise.
2. Revenge of the Sith
These next three could go in any order for me. But I really like the prequels because of what they're after thematically (people will sell away their freedom in exchange for security), plus it looks very good. And this is the best of the prequels
3. Rogue One
Best set of actors in the whole series, by a mile. Plus, I'm a huge fan of "we'll go on the suicide mission because you cowards won't" type stories. Love the space battle at the end, too.
4. New Hope
Rewatching it now, as an adult, it's very obvious how thin everything is here: budget, backstory, characterization. But it's got more spirit than 99% of movies that got way more time, money, and studio support. And spirit counts for a lot.
5. Phantom Menace
Boy, is it easy to make fun of this now. Some of the line readings are hilariously bad, and the internet is full of jokes about how the digital effects have aged. But as I said above, Lucas tried to make a huge franchise trilogy that was really about something important, and the more I look at the current state of the industry, the more I respect that. Also, that lightsaber fight is A+.
6. Force Awakens
Some of the elements here are very good. I think that Rey could have been a great character to carry the franchise forward (if only they'd given her, you know, actual things to do), and it looks great. That shot of the leader addressing the New Order troops on the base is an all-timer. But the "what if we replayed the classic hits" story is lame.
7. Attack of the Clones
I wrote up the list and realized I forgot this one, which should tell you a lot. But, after some deliberation, I'm putting it above Jedi because I like the "1970s sci fi" vibe it has. As a huge Mass Effect fan, I can really get behind that. Bring on the soft whites!
8. Return of the Jedi
It's very important culturally because of how it wraps up what was (at the time) the biggest thing to ever hit pop culture. But it's aged badly. The photography/framing/lighting is poor, and it veers all the way into sentimentality.
9. Rise of Skywalker
Look, every single page of the script is bad. Every line needs rewriting, every plot point is utterly stupid. But, on the other hand, the cinematography is gorgeous, and the music is as good as it's ever been. As a story it's one of the worst AAA movies I've ever seen, but as an audio/visual experience, it's one of the best. What a bizarre movie.
10. Solo
This definitely is a film that begins and ends! What little I do remember about it is stupid.
11. Last Jedi
The throne room scene is great, and it looks good. But I will never have anything but scorn for this movie because of the way it "acab'ed" the Jedi. Fuck off with that.

Wow not a lot of love for The Force Awakens, which I thought was an excellent return to form for the Star Wars franchise, despite being a near clone story of the original Star Wars.
I'll just lump the original trilogy together and at the top in no certain order:
1. Star Wars/ Empire Strikes Back/ Return of the Jedi
2. Rogue One
3. The Force Awakens

1. The OT, with EsB on top, ROTJ and ANH battle for second place, although ANH has some serious pacing issues nowadays.
2. Rogue One, especially after watching Andor. It makes so much more sense after this amazing show.
3. Force Awakens and Last Jedi. A remake and the Star Wars remake of the first Battlestar Galactica episode, that at least tried something new
4. The prequels, starting with RotS, TPM and then the PS2 game AOTC
5. Solo, but only in the german dub: They found a great voice for the young solo that sounds and behaves like the original one, just younger
6. Rise of Skywalker, because somehow, Palpatine returned in a Fortnite event

Prequels were worth getting just for the Auralnauts dubs. Those things are great.
1. Empire. A real filmmakers film. You can tell everyone involved put everything they had into it. The story, characters, art direction, special effects, sets, music etc are all some of the best ever put onto film. Incredible film.
2. Star Wars. Biggest fluke in film history but it works on every level. Great fantasy.
3. Jedi. Wraps up the trilogy perfectly. Who could have any real complaints about this film?
For the sake of making a list:
4. Sith. Cheesy acting and script, mostly garbage special effects but the way it ends on such a downer and concludes the story by leading into the main trilogy is admittedly well done.
5. Phantom. Dumb film with so much cringe but some parts do at least feel like Star Wars with some original ideas here and there. Bad execution though.
Yikes here we go:
6. Rogue One. Enjoyable but totally forgettable with too much unnecessary guff added to the OG trilogy elements like the CG Peter Cushing being about 8 foot tall and Darth Vader with his weird voice and campy walk murdering everyone in a linear corridor that puts Final Fantasy 13 to shame. The CG actors will not age well at all.
7. Solo. Enjoyable in a way, but again every single character is forgettable and ultimately irrelevent so what was the point? Also why the fuck is the film so dark and muddy?
8. Force Awakens. Basically a remake made without any intention of continuing the old story in a meaningful way (why is Luke not in this film?) and as we found out no intention of even crafting a new story WTF.
9. Clones. This film is unwatchable really. Really boring, really bad script, really bad CG, abysmal acting. It does at least try to tell an interesting story but it fails so hard on all fronts that whatever might be good is lost in all the bad. It would easily be the worst Star Wars film but...
10. Last Jedi. Reintroduced elements from the prequels that no one liked such riding on stupid CG space animals, dumb settings like the casino planet, awful cheesy humour etc. The less said about the story the better because let's face it there isn't really one at all. Why make a sequel but have absolutely no reverence for the films that came before it? You get the feeling Johnson doesn't even like Star Wars and wrote a bunch of dumb shit just to appear cool. Unbelievable.
11. Rise. A genuine contender for the worst film of all time but we should've realised all hope was lost prior anyway. Almost no redeeming qualities that I can think of and everything it tries it fails at. Hopefully JJ Abrams has been blacklisted from filmmaking.

I refuse to call Star Wars 'A New Hope'. That didn't happen until the re-release in 1981 and of course later VHS and screenings of the Lucas re-releases with all of his stupid changes.

I hate Revenge of the Sith as much as I hate the other prequels, contrary to much of this thread apparently.
But Disney-Wars also sucks... I watched The Farce Awakens and never bothered to watch its follow-ups to this day, despite growing up on the original trilogy on repeat, because Disney sucks the soul out of everything it touches.
As for the classics:
ROTJ == ESB >>>> ANH
Even though ESB is the better film, the Luke-Vader showdown is one of the most memorable things in the entire franchise, really the centerpiece from which I view the entire arc of the trilogy.
