what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

I know they've been posted already but.............

xenomorph.gif%3Fformat%3D500w

terrified me as a kid, still creeps me out a bit today.

The physical form of blasphemy
The Thing; Prequel and Carpenter's version. In the prequel it was just starting out, so their chance for survival was a little bit higher. Carpenter's Thing is basically a death sentence as soon as the dog showed up. Hyper intelligence and a one touch instakill. You can see a Xenomorph or try and fight off a facehugger.

From the 1986 movie "HOUSE", movie is actually not even close to being scary now. But as a kid this thing gave me many a nightmare, as did her kids but I can't find a picture of them on the internet. Her voice made her even worse, this one pic doesn't do her justice.

Speaking of movies that scared me as a kid.

I don't remember what they were called but I believe they were from Beastmaster? They would take you and digest your body and spit out your bones? Does anyone remember that 80's flick? Those things scared the shit out of me.

Yes. I know it was done for other reasons, but I genuinely found the women suddenly being played by men once demonic the creepiest thing. It took me a second to realize that the actors had suddenly swapped. I'm not too scared by horror movies in general, but ironically i think I found Evil Dead I more unsettling than most people did.

I did not know this. Can you elaborate?

This movie is so funny. I'm not spoiling it for everyone, but do YOU remember how the protagonist defeats this monster? Thinking about it cracks me up!

I Always said this is the scariest zombie ever made. You should watch the movie. It's both scary and funny, with the perfect amount of each.

Lol,yeah I actually watched it recently with my son. I was cracking up all the way through the movie.
He chopped her up with an axe, after he opened the room with the flying tools in it.
Another funny part happens after he killed her too
the part where the hand is on the back of the little kid, running around his house

That tar zombie also scared the crap out of me as a kid, I really believed the part in the beginning of the movie where it said this was a true story. I had nightmares about zombies and cemeteries as a kid constantly.

Her at the end of Rec.

Also, not really a monster but the demon in The Exorcist which you only see for a frame.

That is actually Satan. One night I was trying to sleep, the flashes of satan from that movie started appearing in my head, and I freaked the FUCK out.

Masterfully done by the director.

For some reason this dude scared the living shit out of 8 year old me, partly because I never saw the ending until about 12 years later.

and reading this thread while getting ready for bed was a terrible decision

Jesus, you won't have to ever remind me to avoid that movie like the fucking plague.

Return of The Living Dead is amazing. Please don't let that keep you from watching it.

Unless you've already seen it and meant BRAINS zombie is keeping you away.......you should still go rewatch it because it's amazing.

It looks good, but it's not complete without that scream

The Thing spoilers obviously: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3dfqTSQePQ

Such a great movie.

The Blair Witch Project

Probably one of the scariest monsters I never saw.

Haha fuck yeah. This was one my earliest horror movies, and introduced me to the idea that monsters and zombies don't just exist in dark creepy places, but can just appear in your fucking house. Scared the hell outta me.

This movie ruined my brother's life for years. He was terrified to be alone in a room, he slept on the floor of my or my parent's bedroom every night and wouldn't shut the door to a bathroom.

Wait, are you my brother?

Seriously though, I slept on my parents floor for like a month after seeing that movie. I was terrified of that motherfucker being under my bed, so when I would get out of bed I would literally leap as far off of it as I could and make a beeline for the door without ever looking back. And it's all because we watched that stupid movie in the afterschool program and my dad came and picked me up when it was only 3/4 of the way through the movie. If I'd seen the end and realized how silly the movie was, I probably never would've been afraid of it.

I finally faced my fears as a 20 year old and remembered saying "that's it? that's what has haunted me my entire life?

I loved the Ernest movies too, so I was really excited to laugh my ass off when I first watched it. Nope, scared the shit out of me.

Pennywise, of course. Though not It as it was in the film, because they turned it into a lame spider thing. It in the book was... well, everything about It was terrifying. I had to put that book down so many times to hide under the covers because I would, typically if stupidly, read it at night while in bed.

When I was younger, I was terrified of G'Mork from the Neverending Story.

This asshole from The Adventures of Mark Twain still disturbs me to this day.

I can do no wrong, for I do not know what that is.

Nah I'll watch it, cannot be worse than MAMA which I just finished, one of the worst fucking movies I've ever seen.

Return of the Living Dead is basically a comedy and Mama just makes no sense. It sucks and is completely forgettable, but I can watch some seriously garbage movies. Try watching a movie called "Thug Life" with nephew Tommy. Damn near unwatchable.

Just to note, it's not so much scary as it is flat out entertaining. That zombie just happens to have a great look.

Oh no doubt. I used to watch movies like this with a bunch of friends, we would stay up all night every day during each weekend watching stuff lkeBRIIAAANAANANNSSSS

but MAMA? fuck that movie it was terrible in every single which way.

Heh, my parents actually let us see it in theaters. I think my brother was only 5? Quality parenting right there.

That ending really really sucked too, I swear it felt like they were just winging it.

Its from Creepshow 2, The Raft segment.

You're welcome.

I recall that immediately before this scene, he's scoping a sleeping girl's boobs right before she's eaten alive. Even though he'd just seen 2 of their best friends horrifically killed by the lake sludge.

The Blair Witch Project's witch is it for me simply because you never see her/it. I think that when you see the monster/ghost, you become familiar with it and thereby lose one of the more powerful catalysts that renders a character scary.

Yeah, this is the thread I wanted to read before bed...

Anyways, my vote goes to The Thing. The fact that it spreads like a fucking virus gone horribly wrong is the scariest aspect of it.

The troll from Ernest Scared Stupid got me good as a child as well. I loved it, and watched it several times, but never stopped being afraid of that bastard until I was much older. The opening scene to that movie (the one in the forest) is still some hair-raising stuff for me.

Pinhead freaked me out so bad as a kid. Also anything that was a werewolf. Just that it's a vicious animal just scares the hell out of me for some reason. I never thought IT was scary. At all. It still boggles my mind how people are scared of clowns. I always thought they were stupid.
