Scariest movie monster (and the movie it's from)

The concept of Freddy scares me since you have no chance against him, his stock has gone down significantly as he's become too big of an icon.

The last shot in the Blair Witch movie is forever burned in my mind.

Cujo truly terrified me when I was a kid, probably because it felt like something that could really happen to me.

From the Star Trek THe original seires, this guy always freaked me out as a kid (eve worse since I think he's in the credits of a lot of episodes)

What's funny is the alien is actually a puppet being controlled by the child-looking alien Balock...

...who was played by a young Clint Howard!

I love NightmareGAF :D

But this is the first thing that came to mind.
I'd like to think of myself as a horror movie expert.
I've seen it all.

BUT THIS.
Thank the lord there weren't too many scary parts in that movie with this thing because than idk if I could handle it.

It gives Chucky a run for his money, for sure.

Making it worse... THIS DOLL ACTUALLY EXISTED

Annabelle Doll from The Conjuring.

My vote has to go to Mary Shaw.

I'm not afraid of ventriloquist dummies, but the look of a human body that has had its parts replaced with doll parts scares the crap out of me.

EDIT: If you post a GIF/Pic, please include the name of the movie along with it.

Mod edit: If you are going to contribute to the thread, name the film you are posting about. Do not post an image and call it good, as that helps no one.

Did you mention the name of the movie for yours? as I have no idea what movie this is from

The Skeksis from Dark Crystal always kind of freaked me out...assholes that they are.

Seriously lady...get the fuck away from me man. Always hated that bit where she runs toward the camera. The sound effects made it worse.

SWEET ZOMBIE JESUS!!! This guy, The Master from Salem's Lot. But also Ralphie scratching at the window;

and Mike Ryerson sitting in a rocking chair and hissing;
SalemsLot_04.jpg

They all got to me in varying degrees, but the weird noises the Master makes, and the fact he doesn't speak combined with that look....ugggh.

Monster designs have never really disturbed me but I have seen a plenty of movies with scary monster moments. The moment
when that dead child comes out from the TV
in the ring is probably my number 1 scariest movie moment. Another favorite scary movie moment of mine is this one, which comes from House on Haunted Hill. The scariness in this clip has nothing to do with monster design, of which there is barely any, but the inhuman movement coming from a human.

Most of the shit that scared me as a kid has been posted already. This freaked me out the first time I saw it. Also the whole driving with the lights off on the highway made me nervous as all hell lol.

Yes. I know it was done for other reasons, but I genuinely found the women suddenly being played by men once demonic the creepiest thing. It took me a second to realize that the actors had suddenly swapped. I'm not too scared by horror movies in general, but ironically i think I found Evil Dead I more unsettling than most people did.

I did not know this. Can you elaborate?

I would also like to hear more. A quick google search didn't turn up anything.

These are all very scary. I also love Barlow from Salem's Lot. Your image of him doesn't show up for me. So here

I mean WTF?

No lie: I was reading this thread while preparing something in the microwave, and when it went *BEEP BEEP BEEP* to say my food was done, I was a little spooked. lol

It's not really a monster, but the old woman in the photos in Insidious really creeped me out. I think it's more the concept than the visuals though. The fact that on each photo, she comes closer and closer.

^ Good man! Yeah, Insidious really had some great moments/ideas. I just found out the other day there's a sequel out. Suffers from the same problems, but not bad either.

The monster from Insidious is seriously god damn scary until they take all the tension and power he holds over the characters and viewer away by revealing him and having the characters directly confront him. Such a strong first half followed by an extremely boring second half. Too bad.

Not a monster per se, but I still look away when Zelda appears in Pet Semetary.
I wont post a picture. I cant.
I'm 27 years old.
I love horror movies.
Fucking Zelda.

I guess they had to change second half, otherwise would have been straight Poltergeist remake.

Yeah. The first half is really good, and very well done: gorgeous cinematography, good actors, some legitimately scary shots (this one comes to mind, but also the goddamn creepy dancing kid in the house and the ghost huntress sequence where she describes the monster).

And it all falls apart during the last twenty minutes. It made the monster look so goofy.

As a kid I could handle most scary movies. It was the shot of this asshole firing two guns into the camera that freaked me out - the kind of terror that seemed more likely than any supernatural creature. Utterly terrifying.

edit - Certainly the terminator design from T1 is just as impressive and scary.

I'll be as polite about this as I can, but you're insane. The American Ring remake is one of the better American horror movies that has existed in a long-ass time. It's extraordinarily better than the Japanese one and the Grudge is far and away the worse of the two movies.

I have to disagree I believe that you may be insane. The American Ring may be a good American horror film but it doesnt compare at all to the original Ringu. The difference is like someone whom knows what horror is and someone trying to copy it. The original contains subtlety and real dread, functions almost like a documentary causally filming this horror. The audio is horribly atmospheric. And the tapes the new one is like a bad student film, where everything is a clue. The original is like something that came out of a nightmare, nothing makes any sense, it has no meaning. Also the look of the original girl you never see her fully.

My vote goes for the Alien in Aliens, for scariest monster though. There was nothing like it before and hasnt really been anything since. I have had so many nightmares because of it.

I'm glad I'm not on my own when it comes to Et.

This also traumatised me as a child, really shouldn't be watching this at the age I did.

Don't Look Now

Edit: I am now noticing a trend in my fears, small wrinkly things.

Didn't think anything in this thread would get me at 8:30 in the morning, but fuck.

Insidious was terrifying. Probably the scariest movie I've seen.

These aren't from a movie, but they are fucking horrifying and a continuation of my fear of small wrinkly things.

Terrahawks was one of the most disturbing kids shows ever, full of fucked up monstrosities.

First time I saw this part I was so scared that I couldn't breathe. Fuck that, I agree.

I loved Inland Empire, but strangely that scene didn't freak me out. The one that did was when Laura Dern confuses her film with her own reality, then it dawns on her and she just looks around at the cast and crew (who are all looking worried). One of the best scenes of madness in cinema.

Shutter (please watch the original taiwanese version, not the american shitty one). OMG that movie is brilliant and features some very tense scenes.
The bed scene is great, there's also the in which the main character is taking pictures for a wedding which freaked me out
.

Nah I'll watch it, cannot be worse than MAMA which I just finished, one of the worst fucking movies I've ever seen.

The Return series is actually as comedic as it is scary.

The Blair Witch Project's witch is it for me simply because you never see her/it. I think that when you see the monster/ghost, you become familiar with it and thereby lose one of the more powerful catalysts that renders a character scary.

Fear ruined, maybe...this was an action figure of the Blair Witch. There's another one where she's literally a tree.

She's worth a mention. Shutter Island is just a thriller, that's why I was scared by many scenes.

I've never seen the human centipede movie but is there a scene with the actual human centipede? That should be freaking scary!

If you mean scary as in disguting, I guess so. There's not really a "monster" though.

Also please watch 3 extremes. 3 short movies and they're pretty fucked up.

There's not really monsters (more like a ghost in the first story)
