It started like cheap torture porn with people in a makeshift prison, then gradually got weirder until you realise what's going on. A bit gory and messed up, characters are meh and dialogue is mostly rubbish. I was curious how it would end but not a fan.

Shudder is worth it for Creepshow, they also have Summer of 84 (my personal favorite movie of 2018). Friday night at 9pm eat is a new Joe Bob Briggs Last Drive In 3 movie marathon, and tomorrow night Haunt premiers on Shudder....

22. Sleepy Hollow. Rewatch. Grew up loving and watching the Disney cartoon. Saw this in theaters as a kid and just fell in love. Still has some of the best atmosphere and mood from any horror film.
23. Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Rewatch. What's to be said that already hasn't been said. Movie started some of the popular horror film tropes. Forgot how funny some scenes actually were near the beginning of the film.

#26 Bloodlust: Subspecies 3 (1994)
The saga continues. This trilogy is one continuous story and it feels like watching a soap opera. Like the original Dark Shadows with a budget. They could have made 2 & 3 into a single 2 hour film but I'm sure they didn't for financial reasons. This one is not as good as the last two but the series has won me over anyway. It's cheesy and predictable but quite fun and chill.

Classic giallo about a child killer. Good mystery and up amongst Fulci's best.

Even Dave DeCoteau should be ashamed of this. Makes Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama look like a serious accomplishment. However, given that this whole film was an after thought made in 4 days I guess I'll forgive him. Worth it for Linnea's punk song.

Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors
This was my absolute favourite Freddy Movie as a kid, as I get older it’s still good, but not as great as my childhood remembers.
Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.
They still have Kirsten, but she’s played by somebody else, they kill the Dream Warriors in the first 20 mins, but after that it gets good and bring some continuity to the series.
It is really tied with 3 as the best the series has to offer, and it’s when Freddy starts throwing out punchlines on each kill.

#29 The Boneyard (1991)
For bad movie fans only. Low budget monsters in a morgue. The first few monsters are actually quite nasty looking and effective but the direction is flat, the dialogue really stiff and corny, editing and acting sucks. The first hour and a bit is played straight and drags with some unintentional laughs but during the last 20 minutes it suddenly turns into Bad Taste with ridiculous monsters. I laughed my ass off at the end. It was more funny because I didn't know what was coming but it looks like all the trailers and box covers give away the ending.

28. Office Uprising (2018)
Slacker works in a weapon factory's HQ. they develop a new energy drink, transform people in aggressive messes.
Adequate action comedy that was labeled "horror", i guess they are "zombie" like. few giggles here and there, the action scenes were fun. it's just one of those movies...

#30 Switch Killer (2005)
Okay, now I'm really scraping the bottom of the trash pile. A psycho stabs lots of strippers and randoms. The central plot about a woman just out of an abusive relationship is utterly stupid. The main thing keeping this from being very boring is lots and lots of t and a (sadly too many fake tits). The final fight is kinda amusing for overkill. It's only 67 mins long and they desperately pad the credits with extras and a highlights music video to reach over 80 mins. My favourite bit was they shot their own version of scenes from Casablanca, really badly, and put them on a tv in the background a few times as part of the story.
Early 2000s shoestring horror is the worst. The only subgenre it does well is found footage. Le sigh. Despite that I will keep looking, lol.

29. The Love Witch (2016)
looks incredible with its late 60s, early 70s feel to it, sadly got incredibly bored of it by the 1h mark with another whole hour to go. It doesnt have a nice pay off in the end. Numerous nudity scenes might have kept me going tho.
Would not recommend.

30.Night of the Hunted (1980)
A guy driving during the night towards paris encounters a girl who is seemingly runing from something and picks her up and neglates to see her naked friend behind the tree, shortly she shows signs of memory loss and seems to be confused. Nudity ensued.
Really enjoyed the movie it is quite interesting and has a great dose of tits as prescribed by the doctor, and a rape scene, staple of 80's movies.

Devil Within Her[Amazon Prime]
Stripper is cursed with a devil baby by a dwarf for not banging him. Aside from Joan Collins in various states of undress, the crazy sexual tension between Donald Pleasance and the nun, and the wacky score that doesn't fit the movie at all there isn't much to get excited about with this one.
October 20th:
House of the Witch[Netflix]
Kids get trapped in a house haunted by a witch. Very solid practical effects and really good pacing hampered by excessive cg smoke. Still worth a watch though.
October 21th:
Halloween[4k Blu-ray]
Not going to say too much here but I got a chuckle out of Loomis not wanting the sheriff to tell everybody about Michael as a safety precaution which is in stark contrast to part 4 where Loomis has had enough and embraces having a roving vigilante squad. It's a nice little of bit of development that really works for him.
October 22th:
Pet Semetary[4k Blu-ray]
The dialogue and acting are a bit out there but everything else is great. Whole movie is kind of absurd but still works really well. Much better than the godawful remake.
October 23th:
Inferno[Amazon Prime]
I opted for the much maligned follow-up to Suspiria instead of my usual Halloween rewatch since the 4k release of Suspiria is due next month. The opening underground sequence is one my favorite horror movie moments and there are some other other highlights but I think the pacing was a real problem. The entire segment with the female student should have been cut has it served no purpose and that time could been better spent shoring up the narrative building up the rest of the cast. Still there are some gorgeous visuals and creative touches that make it a worthwhile watch.
October 24th:
The Lighthouse, Countdown[Theatre]
The Lighthouse is a gorgeous descent into madness. I wasn't completely feeling Patinson and the movie feels like it could have gone up another gear but it's still really good.
Countdown was a surprise. It's light on kills but it's pretty darn funny and the jump scares were pretty well-executed for the most part. Very solid date movie.
October 25th:
Audition[Blu-ray]

I can't believe how many people he gets to kill while staying at home.
fun killer clown movie with a lot of gore and the most oblivious character in a town where that happened a year prior.

21. Hell Fest - Caught this on Showtime , never heard of it . Stupid college kids get killed by slasher at a horror theme park for no apparent reason. Could've been more gory but still enjoyable !
22,23,24- A Nightmare on Elm St. 4,5,6- They're on SyFy on-deamnd . My favorite horror movie franchise . 1 and 3 get most of the praise but I feel 4 and 5 are where Freddy really stands out . Unlike Jason and Michael , Freddy has a personality and ton to say , always wise cracking before murdering someone in a decidedly inventive way . 6 I still find entertaining but I feel I may be biased due to my love for the franchise
5 is probably my favorite of the bunch

killers klowns from outer space - okay cult movie. the best part are the practical make-up effects/costuming of the clowns.
videodrome - okay cult movie. at some point, i lost the plot.
it comes at night - typical a24 horror joint. some flashes of good stuff, but lacking in originality/execution, and doesnt come together to be a classic of the genre.
lake mungo - the format is neat, but the story falters as it is basically an okay campfire story.
blackcoats daughter - see it comes at night.
the green room - see it comes at night.
dog soldiers - decent werewolf movie. feels too long at 2 hours.
mandy - this is the best new movie ive seen of this years horror lot. feels too long at 2 hours.
trick r treat - really thin/weak stories even by anthology standards. also feels like it wants to be audacious with gore and nudity, but doesnt take it far enough.
lighthouse - see it comes at night.
10 cloverfield lane - okay kidnapping/hostage thriller.
crawl - okay. basically 'the shallows' tier. disappointing given the rt score and buzz it was getting.
dawn of the dead (re-watch) - this is probably the most critically acclaimed horror movie i cant get into. atmosphere, visuals, zombies are all so much worse/more dated than the 10 years older night of the living dead. its just so 70s. also feels too long at 2 hours.
american werewolf in london (re-watch) - other than the vfx/make-up in the transformation and jack, theres not a lot here. it feels like its spinning its wheels until it get to the transformation, and then feels like its spinning its wheels getting to the credits. feels too long at 1.5 hours.

Watching Jeepers Creepers, Suspiria tonight. Question: is Annabelle Homecomig with the watch? I’ve loved both Conjuring movies and like Annabelle and Creation.

I can't say much without spoiling the many twists of this film, but in my opinion it's the best psychological thriller since Silence of the Lambs. I watch this over and over. It stars Ksenia Solo and Charlie from Lost. Not your average obsessive stalker horror film. It's on Amazon Prime and if you don't have that, if you look close enough you can find it for free on YouTube.
I can't say much without spoiling the many twists of this film, but in my opinion it's the best psychological thriller since Silence of the Lambs. I watch this over and over. The Green Room lacking in originality and execution? Oh come on now.
the concept is original - a punk rock horror movie/stuck in the green room. but the way events play out once theyre in the green room is just eh. good/original kills? nah. good/original characters/characterization? nah. dont even remember any of the characters names, and stewart was kinda wasted.

A spin off from the Subspecies series. The guy who writes and directs all these films has a quite distinct style. Very pulpy and po-faced. Sort of a 90s answer to Hammer. Didn't think much of this one because I couldn't get into the lead characters, and the narration and other bits of writing felt weak.

32. Child's play (2019)
First chucky movie I ever watched, just never got around to it.
cannot attest to its fidelity, quality vs the OG but i quite liked it. gonna try and get some of the originals in before the end of the month
33. The Endless (2017) - On Netflix
I just learned this movie was made to be watched after Resolution (2012) as a companion piece yet stand alone.
Two brothers who escaped a death cult go back there after seeing a video.
Great atmosphere, good mystery going, good movie. I have to find out about resolution now.
34. Skeleton Key (2005)
Kate Hudson is a hot nurse for an old man. Voodoo ensues.
I need more of this, liked the setting, the slow creep up of things, and the nice finish. I wish I had more time to watch more movies on my list like this one. recommended to anyone reading this.
35. Scary stories to tell in the dark (2019)
Kids go into an abandonned house, find a book, bad things follow when the girl brings the book back.
I liked the red monster part. thats it. It felt like a goosebump trying too hard. Would not recommend.

This just dropped on Shudder and it's a movie by Eli Roth about a bunch of college kids who go to an extreme haunted house in the middle of nowhere run by a bunch of psychopaths. Some good kills, and interesting premise, nice twist at the end. NO BOOBS!

#33 Night of the Comet (1984)
It's like The Omega Man reimagined by Cyndi Lauper. Or if MTV teamed up with John Carpenter. So much 80s. How did this pass me by all these years? It's a time capsule. Shamelessly pop, fun, and a little badass. Love it. My new fave Xmas movie. (very little horror though)

I remember being creeped out by The fourth kind (2009), The Haunting in connecticut (2009), Jeepers creepers (I was young, haven't seen it since mostly because i only recently learned the title of it), Hills have eyes (2006), and darkness falls (2003) Note that those were seen as teenager / at their launch, most of them.

Ok original is good, different from the newer one. I think I like latest one the more.

Until i saw the sequel. I prefer the sequel to the OG and Remake. really fun, I Liked that it wasnt as much about the kid actor and that chucky speaks more often and visibly more active.

it was fine. Death scenes few and far between. and the grenade kill isnt even satisfying.

1)Robert Englund chewing up scene after scene as the campy strip club owner
2)Some actually good zombie makeup fx and gore/kill fx
3)Terrible story and acting (mostly)
4)About 90 minutes of straight up titties from about 6 different girls including prime Jenna Jameson (who surpisingly wasn't terrible at acting)
