Autumn Anime 2015 |OT2| It'll at least last longer than Steve.

Gargantia was a pretty cool show. The most annoying thing about it is that it was a 7 or 8 out of 10 anime when it could have very easily been a 9 out of 10 if some things were changed just slightly. As far as art/world design goes it's practically unmatched by anything in the last five years. I have the production art books for this show and the attention to detail that went into producing it is mind blowing for a modern one cour show. There's about 300 pages of character design work (even the most minor background characters without any lines have full designs) followed by 100 pages of mechanical design (mostly various appliances and tools seen in the show) in one book. The other book has about 100 pages of mechanical designs (Chamber and his sibling units along with the mecha used by the crew of Gargantia) along with about 300 pages of design work for the ships. There's also some additional setting details included, like the cipher used for the Galactic Alliance language and some things not seen directly in the show. Together they're my overall favorite anime related artbooks outside of the Gekidan Inu Curry book for Madoka Rebellion's Production Note.

You know what, you're right. All that shit is pretty impressive, so to call Gargantia bad would probably be a disservice. But I feel like that show fumbled the plot and character details in such an extreme way that it just turned me off the show as a whole. And I didn't really like the first half, either. That it is unfinished doesn't really bother me since I didn't even bother to watch the OVA that came out recently and I just lost all interest in the series anyway.

So Gargantia is the Order 1886 of anime.

I don't think that's fair.

Gargantia sold itself as a anime, and it was one.

The Order 1886 sold itself as a videogame, but it was really just a QTE demo kit.

I guess that's the one time I can agree in favor of Gargantia.

Reading that The Order 1886 review thread was a treat.

Tragic victim of fan death
Boruto The Movie

I enjoyed Team Boruto. Mitsuki is hilarious, Sarada is surprisingly a great character and Boruto isn't an annoying dipshit like his dad or his soon to be father in law. They just need to make a laid back show about Boruto and his dumbass adventures. Come on. Give it to meeeeeee.

Monster Strike 14

sg21TQGh.jpg

Pretty cool episode with Akise stealing the show.

Awesome that we're getting more than just one cour of this. Little by little, Spring 2016 is getting better.

Comparing the viewers of the Japanese Videos Vs. The English translation is always interesting. JP episode 13 has 1.3 million viewers while the English upload only has 13k.

Interesting...
Well. At least Japan is watching this, only means that I'm getting more Monster Strike.

Maturity, bitches.
Since the Winter OP is a team effort you can choose the next subtitle. Oh and I recommend coming up with a good one so I don't come up with another bleak one that leaves you cold.

Monogatari Series: Second Season Episode 15:

For the record I still hate that arc, oh god do I abhor it for being so boring up til this episode but ironically I rather like the end result and I look forward to the advancement of things.

Since you're already on the next arc. Don't forget to watch the proper opening for it !

You are in for a ride. Just don't expect anything from the main plot.

Also S1>>>>S2.

Nu-uh.

One of Konaka's wildest rides >>> episodic shit

The "episodic shit" is better written than a main plot that doesn't make any sense because the creators never intended to reveal the mystery to begin with.

That's the beauty of it !

Also, I do recall thinking it made certain amount of sense.

And anyhow, it was still better than the episodic material of S1. That in itself had Shin Mazinger Z tier ending to it. S2 has at least semblance of conclusion.

Still amazing.

Kino's Journey Episode 3

The world is ending!? But I wasted my whole life watching anime!

Heh, Kino is perfectly willing to take advantage of the situation. She's a nice character, but she's devious too.

Huh, a poet in a roundabout way kinda destroyed this country, and manipulated another?
These idiots are going to war over this? Over a poem!?

Oh man, what a weird episode. This show doesn't seem to be really so much about morals, but just an exploration of odd circumstances and human behavior.
It's actually a really enjoyable departure from the norm.

Gargantia looks fairly attractive generally, but the art design for Yamato 2199 is stronger.

EDIT: It's also a real shame that the director hasn't had the opportunity to direct anything else since Gargantia. He did a good job.

You know he's making the CG film Sekai Suru Kado at Toei right now, yes?

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya

Really liked the art direction and when combined with great animation during the couple running sequences it looked gorgeous.

Story and characters were good and I did get a bit emotional two or three times. It didn't feel like it did anything particularly new and captivating though. It's a pretty typical by-the-books golden cage princess story, albeit with less of a happy ending. Really did make me think about how awful those customs were for the women in particular if they're historically accurate, which I imagine is the case. That topic itself will remain relevant for the foreseeable future of course.

OST was good as well.

Still amazing.

Heh, haven't seen that one yet.

It's a retelling of an ancient Japanese folktale, without any real modern twists added on top of it, so it's not surprising that the story is not new.

Koufuku Graffiti 1

Even outside the OP, this is very promising. Hopefully Naoyuki Tatsuwa has gotten to do a quality show in between being forced to work on Nisekoi.

Since all that sexual fanservice was such an issue for you with Soma I wonder what you'll think about Koufuku Graffiti's own take on that.

I thought it was worse myself. At least Soma has a shonen sports anime as the main part. This was just fanservice (food and little girls).

Soma's erotic content is trashy and cheap, mostly focusing on big bouncing boobs and people getting their clothes ripped off and being raped by cooking. Koufuku Graffiti's erotic content (judging by episode 1) is classy and refined, mostly focusing on detailed drawing of luscious lips, which is thematically appropriate, visually appealing, and much less pornographic.

? I'm nearly halfway through it myself but outside of one singular instance, I don't see anything on the level of Soma fanservice.

At least in Soma the characters can eat their food normally. In KoGra they appear downright aroused before the food even gets inside their mouth. Can be supposed to look as appealing as it wants to be, looked mostly plain stupid to me.

What? That's not true at all. In fact, one of my main complaints about Soma is that no one can eat anything without having an orgasm. Even when they're trying to distinguish between two dishes, they normally do so by having the first cause a big orgasm and the second cause an even bigger orgasm.

Was rather meaning they can put the first bite in their mouth normally. Then they all have their foodgasms, that I won't deny.

None of these as whatever BGBW decides on will be appropriate.

Koufuku food looked tastier than Soma's food and seeing them enjoy the food was much more pleasing in Koufuku than Soma mostly due the the fact the girls aren't having foodgasms each time they eat they are merely enjoying the food.

If anything Ryo doesn't have foodgasms but she enjoys her food with more flare.

Kirin enjoys the food but fucking inhales it.

Shiina eats her food normally but has a very refined look about her when she does.

Toriko's foodgasms can literary destroy planets, so this wins by default.

Also, I remember people thinking this was the next big shonen after One Piece, Naruto etc. Heh.

I like that the purpose of cooking in Koufuku Graffiti is not to overwhelm your enemies, as it is in Soma, but to nuture and express love. This is one case where the shounen/seinen distinction does indicate the level of maturity.

Shueisha tried to push it as the next big Jump series, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
