Well please help me understand then.

It all becomes something else when these systems we didn't care about when used for "who cares stupid videogames" will be used to grant people acces for more vital stuff as acquiring medical care, housing, the right to vote on basis of intelligence gathered form your person. Slippery slope?

IE: you're "free" to use our services if you use and/or pass our TOS.

Section 1:A subsection F:0623 says you're unqualified because you've been a twat on Twitter 7 years ago. Have fun BYEEEEEE

As mentioned already, Sony and MS do the same.

What's shitty here is this whole deal of the game overriding party chat.

Quite the leap you've made. I don't suppose you transcribed your fears on papyrus and had it flown by pigeon to a trusted third party for posting on the internet just now. The fact of the matter is that cell phone in your pocket has been always listening and always tracking for years.

I don't want to scare you, but did you know when your phone is off, it isn't really?

Ofcourse I'm aware. I guess that's my point, it's already in use so we're all fucked when it comes down to it.

Remember you are losing your right for privacy with this setting. Anything that happens near your microphone can be heard.

These type of stuff are privacy invading garbage. Anyone who supports it, can f off.

I dont want to hear couples arguing about their life, while their kids are playing the game.

Anything can be used to track you.

Its all about how you use it.

There is alot of retards on social media, who post their private information to public.

I just dont like some stupid retarded company invading my privacy too much. Especially, when i am blocking every tracking shit on my systems.

Videogames are meant to be a form of escapism, not an outlet and a warrant for a company to track you. Most games don't have any system required to do this.

If you are defending this, because you have nothing to hide. Good for you.

What's stopping Turtle Rock from selling these voice recordings to a Third-party?

They're going to turn the best excerpts into tweets
Maybe they'll get me from last night,

"What the fuck is she doing? She's just looking at me... Why is she just looking at me?!?"

- Me while pinned by a Special Ridden and my teammate ran circles around me without breaking me free to help toward the end of chapter 1.

Yeah, sorry for the sarcasm, but I honestly feel like these companies are decades behind the likes of Google, Facebook, and Apple with regards to surveillance. Microsoft might not be too far behind though.

The people saying this is an invasion or erosion of privacy - do you not understand that privacy goes out the window when you elect to use a third party service to communicate with? You’re also writing these concerns on an Internet forum lol. This forum stores all your communications too! That’s how other people can see what you write!

It’s not “spying” as a few have said because spies don’t tell you upfront that you’re being spied on lol. They make it very clear that if you use chat in the game they record it, and they tell you why they do. If you don’t trust they’re telling the truth then don’t play the game or don’t chat. To those saying “what’s stopping them from selling the chats!?” The answer is the same as it is to the question “what’s stopping any company that has any of your data from selling it!?”.

Again, you’re choosing to use a third party service that is making it clear up front that they record your chats. You shouldn’t then act shocked or appalled when they record your chats. So much slippery sloping going on in here it’s ridiculous. You’re no doubt pretty much all posting these concerns from devices running closed source operating systems too lol.

I think this recurring argument of “but other people do it too!!” is tired. We’re talking about a specific practice in this game. People not specifically addressing every other bit of shitty behavior by companies in THIS thread doesn’t mean they’re okay with it.

Also, while I understand if someone needed to it could be traced but there is some obvious anonymity on a message board that isn’t *directly* associated with your real identity to posting on NeoGaf isn’t really comparable.

Also, on a message board I’m responding to very specific topics in a way that I’m not when I’m having a candid conversation with not just my friends but my family. I don’t need a conversation with my wife or son that we may be having while playing a game saved to a server for reasons so obvious that if I had to spell them out, there’s no reasoning here.
