A lot of hotheads in here and the Panama team. It's regrettable there were so many dubious decisions this match, but you can't lose your temper like Panamanians did. Specially over a frigging Gold Cup.

after watching the gif, thats not a penalty what should have he done with his arms then, its a fucking reflex ?

Um...maybe he shouldnt have fallen on the ball then.

Guys he lunged towards towards the ball which was like 4 feet in the opposite direction that he was originally going

yup, I don't see how anyone can see it different... He tried to get up to follow the ball, but fell over.

Well, yeah. Exactly. He was following the ball, fell back onto the ball, and his arm made contact with the ball. It's not a good look to fall onto the ball in the box, and it's even worse when your arm makes blatant contact with it.

Not necessarily an automatic penalty, but it's hardly incomprehensible that the ref called it.

Panama shouldn't have gone down to 10 men in the first place, though. That was a pretty harsh red.

Oh man, this should be the last Gold Cup, and they should just continue with the real Copa América (the whole continent) every four years, starting with the one next year. Gold Cup is just embarrasing.

It's not going to happen, but one can dream...

doesn't matter. He changed the direction/movement of the ball with his arm. Its not the 1st time players fall on balls
lol
but to put your arms so close to the ball like this, you're leaving it to the ref baby.

Only the three North American teams have won the Gold Cup. I assure you, when a Central American team wins it they will celebrate it more than anyone at Mexico will.

he was trying to get up, its not loke he was jumping to it like hte goalie does, you think he should just let the ball alone after he fell?.

This and the penalty against Costa Rica leave clear that this is rigged to fill the Stadiums

I won't be crying over a Gold Cup loss. Panama are most likely getting punished for their display.

But Panama has never won anything in futbol, and has never made it to a World Cup.

How hard is it to see that they care about this? And for good reason?

To fill the stadium with people that throw projectiles on the field and light up the players with green lazers.

Well, they are not helping their chances, getting their players banned for the qualifiers.

That said, people blaming Guardado for not missing the pk are out of their mind. Should players throw them away whenever they get awarded a not!penalty?

What a horrid game. Just a stain on the sport. El Chapo spreading the wealth again out there because that was a hatchet job in the extreme.

How are you not calling the push on Mexico on the first "PK" or the offsides on the 2nd? Just flat out embarrassing. Ref should be sent to the fridge.

The head official representative on FOX said it shouldn't have been a penalty. He has every reason to argue and protect his ref, but didn't. Usually even if there is a small window to protect their refs, they do so to save face....but from the moment it happened to even after the game when he could've looked at it over and over...he went on National Television again and still felt it wasn't a penalty.

True but I doubt anybody was thinking that far ahead in the heat of the moment. Regardless, I doubt their entire squad will be sanctioned, and they'll probably play some team like Aruba in the next round of qualifiers.

After hearing the commentators from Univision, F it, go Mexico, win this silly thing. All that salt can be traced to the previous game, they where cheering for Panama only because they don't liked the idea of Mexico winning this.

On the other side, this is the worst Mexico I have ever seen. We don't deserve to have got even out of the group stage.

Watching the replay, is an obvious penalty. The commentator are pushing the limits, even going into political field. Shameful.

I doubt Panama will convert from a baseball nation to a futbol nation after San Zusi and tonight. Lots of sadness without much history.

And Mexico was the beneficiary both times!

It wasn't a penalty but "Dr Joe" is often wrong. He's retired for a reason :p

Well it was refreshing to hear Guardado, he was so sad.

In short he said they played like shit, he did think about failing the pk but he is a professional and sometimes you're on the other side and the rival wont touch its hearth, and is easy to blame the players because they give the face.

No. The commentators are pretty neutral on all matches, they dont have a hard on to hate on Mexico. But that call the ref was bullshit, everyone knows it. There is no "Salt". It was a shit call by the ref. Mexico played like shit and would have lost the match if it wasnt for the bad call.

Panama deserved to win. They were the better players tonight.
